Do you mean Macmini3,1 2009 Late can be updated to Sequoia?

An OTA updated MBP 13,3 using the latest (on 14 September) OCLP 2.0.0.0 nightly is pretty much problem-free except that it has an iMessages issue. The app launches and seems OK for a few minutes and then starts beachballing more frequently as different Messages conversations are accessed until it finally becomes App not responding. I posted the first page of the hang report a few days ago. If you need the full hang log (very long) I can post a Dropbox link. Otherwise—great job.

this is a Copy/paste of the lastest Changelog for 2.0.0 (CHANGELOG.md)
Looks promising - just trying a clean iMac10,1 install

Wow ... clean install on iMac10,1 flawless, even usable unpatched - but after patching definitely a GO!

Screenshot 2024-09-14 at 10.04.01.png

Now trying to update existing Sonoma 14.6.1 (OTA) ...

Update 1: the patcher realized an OTA is flying in and informed it needs to prepare the system for it ...
never saw this before
Screenshot 2024-09-14 at 10.25.42.png
Screenshot 2024-09-14 at 10.25.07.png

Update 2: as on the previously OTA updated MacBook Pro 10,2 the Preparing Phase seems to be stuck and the progress bar isn't moving, until it finally finishes and asks to reboot - patience a virtue, obviously ...

2012 quad i7 Mac Mini runs fine with Sequoia, haven't noticed any instabilities.
E86EC6A4-C6D7-4FB1-ABE6-AC39EDE2BFB2.jpeg 2013 dual core i5 runs well enough at first but it seems to have a tendency to hang after a while. Had it happen twice with Firefox. Afterwards most apps refuse to open until you reboot. Might be the Macbook itself, might be OCLP or it might also be macOS.

IMG_5455.jpeg 2017 TB MBP runs Sequoia the same as it ran Ventura and Sonoma. Works great on this one! And for this MBP it seems to be completely arbitrary by Apple to remove support since the graphics drivers still don't require patching and everything still works fine.

After updating to Sequoia, I opened my MBP after 10 years and cleaned out the dust. What a satisfaction! Now the temperatures have dropped, and the fans run less frequently.

Update 3:

the OTA update behaves a bit weird. As expected it at some point restarted and booted into the updated RC.
But ... the patch spins at "Fetching KDK database ..."

I'll let it run for a while now, luckily LAN is still working - WLAN is gone... but no obvious progress currently ...

Update 4:

after spinning for about 30min the Root Patching suddenly started...

Yee-haw - big thanks to the Devs!🤗

❗️Please read carefully the warnings on the page❗️

With the release of OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.0.0, we're proud to announce macOS Sequoia support! And with it, 83 unsupported Mac models will be able to run Apple's latest operating system!

image.png

With macOS Sequoia, we spent many months working tirelessly to get these old machines running. And because of the sheer number of different hardware we support and the challenges of working on a closed-source operating system, not all features are currently available.

Main limitations with macOS Sequoia:

  • Lack of support for recently dropped 2018 T2 MacBook Airs (MacBookAir8,x).
  • Single CPU limitation on 2008 Mac Pro (MacPro3,1) and 2008 Xserve (Xserve2,1).
    • Booting with more than 4 cores breaks Sequoia, OpenCore Legacy Patcher will automatically disable additional cores.
    • When running an older OS, you can disable this limitation in Settings.
  • Photos Application is non-functional for non-Metal-based graphics cards.
    • Applicable for pre-2012 Macs (See table below).

just read through that page, looks like if i wanted to, my late 2015 iMac is supported and ready with open core 2.0.0. currently have Sonoma 14.6.1. Is 15 ready for a daily driver, or is it still too buggy ? Most of the time with officially supported version, i was able to upgrade day one with very few issues.

First wait and see how it works on the officially supported Macs...

Of course, there's nothing wrong with installing macOS 18.x separately as another macOS.
