I want to say thanks the OCLP team for their amazing work.
I'm on OCLP 2.1.2 and Sequoia 15.1.1 Macbook Pro 11,3 Nvidia GT750M
I'm running Xcode 16.1 and Content Preview is Working And Simulator " I tried iOS 18.1 iPhone 16 Pro Max" , I had to enable "Prefer iGPU" in the simulator settings and use Intel GPU only and it's running very good .

I hope the OCLP team can manage to get the Simulator running on Kepler also , the OCLP project is really amazing and brought my Mac to life back , not just by supporting the last OS , but also by features like Disable Thunderbolt and Disable Firmware Throttling and many more.

Hi, I would like to bring up the "gray background" issue again, which is actually a boot speed issue. After installing 15.1.1 on my Mac it happened again and both methods of NVRAM reset and SMC reset did not help this time. The startup was very slow, but once everything was loaded, the machine behaved normally. So I ignored the problem and worked for a few days, shutting down my machine at the end of each day. Now, after a few days, my machine starts up very fast again and loads everything quickly. So it really seems that this "gray background problem" is a temporary problem that can occur after an OS update, but later disappears...

Does anyone know what mac os lets me apply the root patches on a cMP 5,1 with a amd radeon R9 280x?
I know its worked in the past.. just don't remember if it was Ventura or Sonoma.

I have been using Sequoia 15.1.1 on my cMP 5,1 with the specs below for the last few days and everything appeared to be working well. Today however the TV App crashed twice while adding or changing the artwork for a few tv programs.

After restarting the TV.app it crashed again after a further 1 hour.

I rebooted the machine and then when opening the TV.app as it is waiting to populate the app's screen with artwork it crashed again. I tried several more times then,,,

I reset SCM and cleared NVRAM 3 times (from the OC boot selector menu).

I ran ONYX.

All to no avail. The TV will no longer start to open.

The first few lines of the crash report reveal:

The Apple TV app is notoriously buggy with external media on Sequoia as I understand it. Probably not a OCLP issue.
Look on the regular forums for advice on that.
Also: did you try my advice on fixing your last update issue? Did it work ok? Feedback always appreciated for other users.

Sorry I didn’t get back to you on the update issue. Thanks.

I have been working at it since you posted the for the solution. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me on the remaining version of Monterey I was trying to reinstall the patches for OCLP. I haven’t given up yet on that drive but after breakfast this morning (it’s just after 5 a.m. this morning where I am) I will repeat those steps again and if I still don’t have success I’ll try a new install of Monterey over the top of the data disk.

I’m going to go back to Monterey for the TV app as I’ve had no problem with it for about the last 18 months of use.

On Sequoia, the TV app will no longer open. The overnight SuperDuper clone, when I reported th TV app issue, had already copied whatever the problem is so my Sequoia backup no longer helps me out.

I have never had a problem with the TV app on any previous macOS versions nor for several days with it on my Sequoia 15.1.1 until yesterday, that is. It has a large library linked to a 24Tb usb C drive containing over 17Tb of video files. I have a scheduled backup daily of the TV.app Library as well as the 2 clones of the 24 Tb drives but unless I can revive the Monterey drive and reapply the OCLP patches I may need to do a clean install of Monterey - of course I’ll make a separate copy of the TV.App Library from Monterey otherwise I’d need to add 17Tb of files to create a new one on my clean install. Previous experience has taught me that would take more than 48 hours.

Thanks. Reinstalling the OS should also work, yes , but the solution I gave is much quicker.
Sidenote, may I suggest you have a look at Kodi for external libraries if you have not done so already.
Ah well, hope it works out regardless.

After attempting the method you set out 3 times and resetting SCM and NVRAM before and after each attempt it made no difference I could not re-install the patches for OCLP.

I went the much longer route of re-installation of the OS.

Just finished the reinstallation of macOS 12.7.4 It worked with a freshly installed and patched OCLP 2.1.2 and my TV App on this OS is functioning 'as advertised' by Apple.

In case anyone else wants to do it this way I did not do it simply over the top of the SSD without editing the drive.

Make fresh OCLP USB installer

Use the Disk Utility on the USB in recovery to remove (not just erase) the system drive, leaving the data drive intact.

Quit Disk Utility and Install the macOS from the OCLP installer USB - you will need to rename it as it will appear as (in my case Monterey - data) in the boot selector.

- Thanks for the side note about 'Kodi': Unfortunately I just have two ATV 3s I'd need an ATV 4 to install Kodi.

I will persist until I find a solution for the TV app crashing on Sequoia before that becomes my OS of choice.

By now I know, with absolute certainty, that with Sequoia and OCLP (from official version 2.0.0 to 2.1.2 or 2.2.0 Nightly) after a few days of constant Mac power on, with various longer or shorter standby times, downloads slow down absurdly.
For example: OCLP Nightly downloads from the Source.md page occur at a few Kb/sec and claim to take many hours (4, 8, 12...).
But if I restart the Mac the same downloads fly by and the file is downloaded in a minute.
Question: Is this a Sequoia problem or unfortunately could it be due to a bug in the new OCLP's KEXT for Wi-Fi modules?
The thing is, this has never happened with Sonoma.
Thanks for the answers and any solutions.

Obviously I use Wi-Fi and I cannot use Ethernet since the Fiber modem is far from this room

I have seen the same (various network speed issues and drops, both on wifi and ethernet as well as also the iCloud safari sync issues) and have gone back to Sonoma. We shall see if this is a bridge too far. But functionality on Sonoma is great, so no biggie here ;)

I got Sequoia running on iMac 12,1 21.5” 2.5GHZ i5. It seems ok. I get nothing but errors just trying to create the installer on my 2013 iMac 27” 14,2 so I’m sticking with Sonoma on that for now.

It‘s the 2.2.0 nightly no direct links to nightlies - may search for OCLP source.md an read, you‘ll find…
Yes, I have the link to the Nightly. I am thinking to install it. I have several problems with Sequioa 15.1.1 (Macbook Pro 15 late 2016): Facetime, Messages, Handoff, Maps, share button in Finder...not responding. I would like to try that OCLP 2.2.0 and if it does not work, go back to Sonoma.

The OCLP 2.2.0 Nightly version is dated November 17. I don't think it can solve the described problems, because it does not introduce any improvement over the official version. In fact, the CHANGELOG.md file shows no additions or changes.

As for the disappointment that prompts you to go back to Sonoma, I understand because I also have this doubt. However (I say this based on previous macOS) generally Mac systems gain stability around XX.3 or XX.4 update and usually even OCLP improves and fixes everything or almost. So, I decided to wait.

Thanks OKnnel. You have described perfectly what I am thinking about and my doubt about to go back or not. I will wait so. Let's see...Thanks again

When I updated to Sonoma 14.7.1 with OCLP 2.1.0 by OTA, the OLCP prompted to do root patch, but my wired keyboard and mouse don't work this time, I think OCLP should wait 60 seconds then do root patch automatically, how can I suggest this to OCLP develop team?

There is Legacy USB 1.1 for root patches, does this mean my wired mouse and keyboard cannot be used? what can I do next if it is true?

Today, in the hope of solving the well-known Wi-Fi problem myself with Sonoma and OCLP, I decided to try modifying OCLP's EFI in the way I will illustrate below.

In fact, **I have written before** (see one or two days ago) about a sharp degradation of Wi-Fi performance if my iMac (a desktop Mac and not a battery-powered one...) is left on for a few days, going to standby at night and when I am not using it. The result is a very sharp reduction in download speed from the Internet to the point that the download speed, in some cases, barely reaches a few hundred Kb and prolongs for hours downloads that otherwise take a couple of minutes. The behaviour is somewhat strange in the sense that it is as if the Wi-Fi module is running on battery power and running low, with obvious reduction in performance. But the iMac is running on power....

Here's what I did, but first I RECOMMEND don't try this unless you have VERY much experience with OCLP or brick your Mac.

My reasoning was this:
if it is the stand-by that are causing the problem, since when the Mac wakes up the KEXTs contained in /EFI/OC/ are not reloaded, it may be that by moving the drivers to /Library/Extensions/ the Wi-Fi module will be reactivated each time it wakes up from sleep.

For convenience, I used OpenCore Configurator and first of all activated the EFI.
I then opened the EFI/OC/config.plist file and disabled and deleted the two KEXTs “AirportBrcmFixup.kext” and “CatalinaIntelI210Ethernet.kext” (the latter I could perhaps leave in place, also because the Mac is not connected to Ethernet and I don't know if with Ethernet the Internet speed would equally have problems. However, I chose to remove this KEXT as well).

I then went into the EFI/OC/KEXT folder and MOVE the two aforementioned KEXTs to the System disk in -> /Library/Extensions/

I then corrected the permissions with the command
Code:
sudo chown -vfR root:wheel /Library/Extensions/AirportBrcmFixup.kext /Library/Extensions/CatalinaIntelI210Ethernet.kext
e
Code:
sudo chmod -vfR 755 /Library/Extensions/AirportBrcmFixup.kext /Library/Extensions/CatalinaIntelI210Ethernet.kext

Finally I rebooted, deleted NVRAM and reactivated EFI-Boot after holding down the Option key at the sound of the Gong until I saw its icon.

At the moment **everything is working perfectly** and the SpeedTest by Okla is giving me the most in this room (about 250 Mb/sec while the router, about ten meters away and with a wall in between, gets 1Gb/sec fiber).

We will see if everything continues to work well in a day or two or if the problem persists.

NOTE: I am also making attempts to solve the Histogram problem that does not work in Preview.app -> Tools -> Adjust Color..., but so far with no positive results. Some time ago I asked @khronokernel for help, but he did not respond and nor did I expect him to respond as used to be the case. I take the opportunity to thank him equally. 😍

If these two problems are solved, the 27-inch iMac of late 2013 will run smoothly, as it did with Sonoma and on par with the new Macs. Of course, I am referring to smooth operation in general and without wishing to compete with the performance that depends on the hardware power of Apple's new Silicon chips.

The way I understand what OCLP does, it patches your USB ports. If they are not patched, then your your wired mouse and keyboard (which you plug into USB ports) shouldn't/won't work. Are the wired mouse and keyboard your only options? No inbuilt keyboard - as in a laptop?
