If I have to use the mount's speaker for phone calls, is there any way to have it not play other sounds like music? Having to use both the mount's volume control and my car stereo to control the volume when listening to music is a poor solution.

Hi beavis956

This is the way the car kit was designed. The audio out only sends information outward. It acts as a bluetooth-handfrees device with amplified speaker for calls with the availability to listen to music and nav directions from your car speakers.(aux cable connected). iPhone application sounds and iPhone call sounds come from different audio sources that the aux cables don't process.

You are absolutely correct that the Car Kit adds GPS functionality to the 2G iPod Touch and it should work with the first gen iPhone. However, we never had the chance to test it; therefore, we cannot guarantee it.

Hi Steve,

We are terribly sorry, but the Premium Car Kit is currently only available in the United States and Canada. We are working with taxes to solve this issue. It shouldn't be long until we can start shipping internationally. We will let you know asap.

where's simulation mode?

I can't find the simulation setting in the manual. Where do I set it? Thanks.

Once you pick the destination, instead of touching the Go icon, go to the bottom of the screen to the options tab. Once you touch the options tab there is a simulate tab on the bottom of the screen.
 
Is this the only Iphone Navigation mount that allows you to use Iphone in a case? Has anyone tried/used it with a Mophie Juicepack?

I'd like to stress that beep signal and faster startup time that trihard mentioned before. The beep signal has always failed me, while your start-up time can really be time-consuming on an iPhone 3G, I'm hoping you guys could also give some love to us 3G users :p

The address integration somehow is also not working. Out of 7 contacts that I only tried, only 2 worked, the other 5 were standardized yet your app won't recognize it as a proper address. I tried to manually type those 5 addresses in the app, and it showed exactly the same to what I have on my contacts.

On top of that, the "Save Location of Car and Close" needs to be removed by the end of your navigation. Somehow when I passed the destination by mistake, the nav app just shows that screen and I can't continue to reroute because of that screen. There should be a small button when you're at your destination to stop the navigation, not include the entire screen.

Others have noted some bugs on previous posts, as well as the known aux-output issue you guys are having on the Magellan car kit, which also needs to be fixed.

Gps Question?

I have a question about the function of the Magellan gps function. :confused:

Under the word Magellan on the gps unit is a little square. Is this suppost to lite up? Since i recieve my unit it doesn't? I also have a problem of the speed not showing when i am traveling South or North. Seem to work when traveling East/West. (see under this thread, under the post from Maggie about the gps unit, under "buy now"; it on the gps unit itself just above whern the iphone/ipod connect to the unit)

I have a ipod touch 2g with the latest software updated. (no it not has not been jail broken)

Hi Maggie, I have an Ipod Touch and the car kit, I was wondering if its possible to use the Car Kit's bluetooth to connect to my blackberry while I navigate with the itouch? Or does the bluetooth has to be docked in order to work? thanks!

Hi battleonmac,

Yes, it is possible to pair the Car Kit to your Blackberry while navigating with your iPod Touch. This is possible because the Bluetooth feature in Magellan Car Kit allows it to pair with any Bluetooth compatible device without having to be docked. (e.g. your Blackberry)

I left this question in the other Magellan thread for Maggie, but can Maggie or anybody else answer this for me?

Can I still get $20 off the car kit if I purchase the Magellan app today (the 30th) and purchase the car kit by the 31st? I am purchasing an iPhone tomorrow, so I can get the registration code once I purchase the app tomorrow.
