(I'll let you in on a secret -- I think I like the anticipation of getting the 3G iPad more than I'll like the device itself. I played with the wifi for a day, and though I was impressed, it really was neither magical nor revolutionary.)
 
Cancel Item Link Disabled

The only change I've noticed on my order on Apple.com is that the Cancel Item link is now grayed out and can't be clicked.

I have an Apple fanboy who tells me that one of Apple's warehouses is in Southern California (he think's Long Beach). I don't know if where someone lives is affecting the shipping status. I live near Oakland so if this is true, it may by why I'm not yet seeing "prepared for shipping".

I expect to get e-mail shipping notification sometime tomorrow morning.

FYI - I ordered my iPad 3G on March 12th at 7:31AM PST.

Me either! I am in week 10 right now and it still kicks my butt. :( Otherwise the results are pretty awesome so far.

I think the 3G arrival will almost be anti-clamactic given how much I am online checking statuses and stuff. :)
 
Besides the comments from people repeating what Apple CSRs told them, if you've not seen it, there's an article on the MR front page 'confirming' that the iPads are in local warehouses. I assume this means most, if not all, of them will be shipped overnight, on Thursday (duh) and that's why we haven't seen payments or tracking.

If it's not obvious, I'll bet it's FedEx, since I doubt UPS will be trusted after last times' issues. :D

I also bet we see a flood of updates in the early AM Thursday as things update for the 'real' shipping day.
 
I am sure by tomorrow afternoon, this board will be flooded with "OMG OMG OMG OMG mine shipped." And just wait until Friday with the "OMG OMG OMG OMG I got mine!" threads. :p

The fun hasn't even begun yet.

15 minutes? The only reason there will be a pause between receiving the package and opening it is because I am looking for my box cutter.
 
Does anyone know roughly what time these will ship tomorrow?

I purchased 2, one at a time, so the pre-authorization went through fine, but I just realized my account's limit is probably going to prevent both from being charged on the same day. I'm wondering if I will have time in the morning to go get this handled.

Someone please tell me these will ship in the afternoon!

Hehe, I enjoy getting rushed by freaking out iPad purchasers, wondering why their UPS tracking doesn't show something the second it happens, or is different than everyone elses by 1 minute and think that means they won't get theirs till June....

:p

J/K haha. I look forward to helping people, and if the need arises I may make a public link for a consolidated page with information updated as the process happens, so I don't have to retype everything 1238172 times, and people can refer to it and these threads.
 
Ugh!!!!

Just got an email with subject Shipment Notification that got my hopes up big time (I really am looking forward to just watching it travel!!!) but it turns out it was just my case. Ugh.
 
Does "delivered on April 30th" mean that we will get the iPad actually on April 30th? Or does it mean that it's shipping out on April 30th to arrive by standard shipping (if you choose that option) 5 days later?

Deliver on April 30th = At your doorstep on April 30th
 
There's still one thing that could put a fly in the ointment.

Credit card fraud checks delaying shipment. It would put me through the roof to come home tomorrow and find an answering machine message indicating the sale was not approved pending authorization because it is such a significant charge. Sure, I'll authorize it and then I might have to wait until who knows to get one.

The stupid fraud "analysts" put a hold on my card if I get gas and go shopping!

Thanks for posting this. I had had a call from the Fraud people at my cc last week when Apple did a pre-authorization for the amount of my 3g iPad.

I just called my credit card company and had them put a notation on my account that I was expecting a $782 charge from Apple and NOT to block it. That it was an expected charge. Should be good to go!

Thanks again! I would have been pretty peeved if the transaction got blocked and delayed the shipment.

I get upset when the fraud analysts do his as well....but at the end of the day it's for your own good. If someone swiped your number and charged up a storm you would be wondering "why didn't my CC company" stop those charges.

In today's world, you do not want to deal with the ramifications of identity theft.

True. However, I do wish that they have a better system or algorithm for security. The way it is now, regular consumers are inconvenienced more often than thefts are blocked.

Agreed. I'd rather my preorder get cancelled and have to go to the Apple Store to pick it up than have someone else use my CC # to buy a bunch of gear.

Yep, good point; thanks for the reminder. I called my CC co. just now to alert them.
 
I guess no one saw my posts made three days ago to other threads in this forum concerning calling your bank? This shouldn't be new news to anyone. Oh well, I hope all goes well for everyone and we all get our iPads on Friday and are happy with them. :)
