Well the No wifi news is out!!

I ordered my Ipad a few weeks back and because of where I live I did not get it until today. To be completely honest, I haven't even opened the box yet. I have been reading all weekend about the wifi issues. I seen them on this site and on apple's site but now they are reporting it everywhere. Search it on Google and every news station and or magazine is talking about it. Most are saying its not software, rather its hardware. This means Apple may have a huge recall on its hands. So I may just send mine back so I don't get hit with the restocking fee. I am in the basement of my family's home so I am not right by the router ever, so I am pretty sure I will have a problem. I don't know what to do.

Wifi issue? And why would you be charged a restocking fee if there's a hardware issue?

Haven't had any issues myself, but I suppose there could be something that people with a certain configuration will experience. You never know with these things.

I'm lost here "This means Apple may have a huge recall on its hands. So I may just send mine back so I don't get hit with the restocking fee."

It happened to mine a couple times. It couldn't pick up my router's signal (and no other devices have ever had problems like this), so I turned off wifi and turned it back on, and worked without a problem. It only happened once or twice, and it's a small price to pay for such an awesome device. And it will eventually be fixed with a firmware update.

If you want the device, keep it. If not, send it back. It's not a major problem, so don't make it out to be.

I have tested:

Hampton Inn wireless
Denny's wireless
HTC hero as a wifi router
My home wireless

All of them works great, no problems at all, I have wireless N in my house and I love the full 20mbps that I have on the ipad, on my netbook wich is only B,G I get no more than 6mbps I don't know why.

I called apple and they said that they WOULD charge a restocking fee because they are denying that there is a problem. Search ipad wifi problems on google and see what comes up and then you will see what I mean. Its everywhere.

Now tell me there is no problem! I want this thing to work just as bad as everyone else but I bought the 64 gb model and a don't want to pay a restocking fee if there is something wrong with mine. I guess I will roll the dice and see what happens. Apple had major problems with their imacs also and denied it forever and still are but the yellow tinge was a huge problem, but they didn't admit it, so why would they admit this either, thats just what I am trying to say. You don't have to jump on someone who has concerns, if anyone comes on here with a problem they get jumped on by you guys for even thinking that something is wrong with the precious ipad. Its rediculous because there is a problem.

I am having WiFi issues with my 16GB iPad.

It's not a connection issue but rather signal.

I have a very strong router signal in my home.
I can take my Macbook Pro across the house and
outside with minimal signal loss.

My iPad can't go across the house without dropping
to one signal bar and then struggle to load web pages.

It seems to me that the WiFi antenna on these things
are poor.

That is what a ton of people are reporting. But if you say anything on here you get jumped on like they own stock in the company.

I know. I have complained here before
about other minor issues on other devices
and gotten jumped on for it. I know the deal.

However, it seems this issue is real and I
hope that it can be resolved by a software
update.

Public wifi problems?!?!?

Okay so I haven't had one problem before now with my ipad. Today I took with me to my classes to show friends (brag) and to my luck I can't connect to the universitys wifi. When I open safari, it prompts me to the schools wifi login page and when I enter my username and password, it just freezes up for me and I have to press the home button to get out. I tried it on my iPhone and it worked as it also worked with a friends laptop that I was trying to show off to! Anyone experience anything like this where you can't log into public wifi?

Happening on my work as well. Ive been on the phone for about an hour now with an Apple engineer and they aren't sure what is going on. I am going to record a video of the process.

Mirroring the exact same process on my iPhone and a co-workers Droid it works great. There's a bug here in the iPad.

At the university I work at I had to hit the blue arrow next to name which would bring another screen. I then click auto join which would then let me put in my user/password then I can surf.
