Girardi is available. (doing some color commentary for Cubs games, and ??) The Yanks should re-hire him, then when they have another bad season, fire him and re-hire Boone. How many times did George (God rest his soul) hire Billy Martin? ;)

I wonder if Kapler will be let go at the end of the season?
I can't really say. I kinda of doubt it.

I can't even say if I want him let go. Right now I do. But I'm always a 5 game win streak away from changing my mind. lol.

I really want them to sign a couple of decent pitchers.

I think our young position guys our going to gel and be pretty solid defensively.

Giants needed the game today. If only Rogers hadn't given up that HR last night. The Giants actually came a little close to winning the series. Considering where they have been, that is a bit of a moral victory.

On To Philly.

@sjsharksfan12 - Agreed.

@maflynn - I'm still on the fence about Kap. I'm not a big fan though.

His time in Philly was interesting. He made some really odd decisions and with a some gifted athletes on the roster he failed to parley their skills into wins. As for SF, he seems to get the players to succeed, maybe even beyond their abilities at times, but at the end of the day he is just a .500 manager. Being on the east coast, I really don't follow, or keep up on west coast teams, so I really don't know how well he is or isn't doing. They're still in the wildcard hunt and as long as they don't choke they'll be in

I've seen the better part of the last two games and all I can say about Kap is I like the shirt he was wearing ...

Anyone know where I can get it? It's "SF" in some Aztec logo thingy...

We call those the dark years... lol. One too many if you ask me. :)

I found it on Etsy

Search San Francisco Giants Aztec logo t shirt.

I'd post the link but I'd go to quarantine/banned jail again.

Even in a down season there are a few little pleasures, the Red Sox swept the Yankees for the second time this season. The Sox are not doing that well, but at least the Yankees are doing worse.

The Giants are not serious contenders. Two gut punch losses in a span of a week, adding to the two Inside the Park HRs (Even though the second one should be a triple and error) and this team is painful to watch. Bring on 49ers Football.

No but they weren't really projected to do well. I find them to be leaderless, lackluster and without direction and focus. I don't mean Cora, but the front office and ownership. So going into the off season, if nothing changes above Cora, I don't see the team's prospects improving much in 2024. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but I just don't think the GM is pushing the right buttons and making the right moves.

That puts a spring in my step to be sure :)

One decent starting pitcher away from being a solid contender in the postseason... or at least a thorn in the side of anyone we might face.

Next year
lol.

My bad.

But isn't there another period before the season ends where we can sign someone...?

DeJong FTW!! Will he be available for the postseason? i.e. can he be on the roster at that time?

I feel like there is deadline on who can play in the postseason based on when they signed, right?

It seems he struggled a bit with the Blue Jays... he may not find another chance on the iPad to play, lol.

Not a bad way to make a good first impression on a new team.

The deadline for having a player on the 40-man roster for postseason eligibility used to be September 1st, so De Jong should be OK if the Giants can claw back a wildcard slot.

Youre not wrong. The front office wont admit it but after 18, they initiated a slow, drawn out, tear down and rebuild. Claiming they couldn't afford marquee players like Mookie Betts and Xander (regardless of how he's doing in SD now) but they had $300 million just laying around for Raffy Devers. It's confusing and frustrating at the same time.

I think their run in 21 was a downright fluke and I'm sure even the front office salivated at the prospect of maybe getting their 5th ring for SUPER cheap but it wasn't meant to be. That being said, I think they are rebuilding for after 24. Casas, Durran, and Bello are leading the charge of the new talent who will be under team control for another couple of years. The deals they signed with veterans are just to provide direction and teaching and aren't to be taken seriously. Devers, Story, Yoshida and possibly Sale (assuming he doesn't break from a gust of wind for the rest of the year) will be the pillars of the team going forward.
