Anyone familiar with the new fullscreen (with synchronised lyrics) figured out how to show lyrics that are manually added to the songs?

The issue is for Apple Music tracks, it shows the big lyrics with autoscroll. Great! For other tracks, it doesn't even load lyrics embedded in the local files. Since most of what I listen to is local, it's sad that I cannot use lyrics for >90% of the times even after years of collecting lyrics in those songs!

It seems to work fine for me in full screen and the regular window view - just need to click the little comment icon on the top Right?

What is annoying is that if you change the view - it does not persist when you come back (just like the "filter field")

Most of the lyrics in my library have been added manually over the years and they all seem to show when the icon is selected - I like this feature better than in iTunes and also in the mini player.

Filter Search has changed in 1.0.4.104 to command-option-F. I have reverted back to iTunes provided by your link. Works great! IMO Apple Music is not for personal music management. Until they add back the functionality that was in iTunes I'll stay with iTunes.
Thanks, that works on Music 1.0.4.104, command-shift-F does not.

Haha no! This one has been available since the earlier versions. I am talking about the *new* synchronised lyrics which comes up when you single click the album art in the now playing section or using the shortcut cmd+shift+f. This is static and shows a smaller font. That one has a much bigger font and auto scrolling and background colours like in iOS.

Ha ha - did not know about that screen  - you are correct - even when the Lyrics show in the mini player - they don't display in that full screen cmd+shift+f

I even tried with a album I purchased recently from the iTunes store to see if that made a difference - no lyrics displayed - even thought the icon to display is there - It Just Doesn't Work - LOL

okay so I found a bug in Apple Music in Music App.
If you try to add a new album from Apple Music to your library - it truly adds, but leaves the button "Add" in Artist section.
Does anyone experience the same? So annoying. Catalina is a mess.
I tried to login logout/turn on off library - no luck.

this happens only in Mac OS. iOS is fine.

Anyone know why if I delete a playlist on my iPhone it deletes it from my Mac.
This never was the case.

one good news, the filtered search now stays when switching to album or artist view.
Nice! Hopefully making playlists (set to view as albums) keep their scroll position is next on their todo list.

The features I am most missing is the album art in the title view.
+1

Unfortunately it doesn't even work 100% of the time for albums – at least if you have lots of them (~4000 in my case). Positions in the bottom quarter of the scroll view aren't restored correctly for me.

still hasn't been fixed...

Yeah, I have this same issue. Also another I've noticed is that if I add a new song from a yet-to-be-released album (or if I add the entire album even though most songs are not yet able to play), they will not have the Release Year in my Library. I have to manually add the Year.

I noticed that since updating to 10.15.4, the option to download playlists is not showing up anymore. The remove download option is there, but if I remove the download (files are now in cloud only), then the option to download is not present.

You can select all songs in the playlist, and then go to the menu bar/songs/download and do it that way. However, before the update, I could just right click on a playlist and download option was present. When that was clicked, all songs not downloaded were then downloaded to the local machine. Since the update, when I right click the playlist, download option is not present.

Anyone here seeing this issue?

So, I had a few albums that I had under the same album name, but had different album covers for some of the tracks based on regions of where they were released.

For some reason the tracks on my iPhone show the same album art for all the tracks in the album, but in iTunes if I went through each track I saw the different album art.

Any reason why this is happening?

I had to copy and paste the album art again to have it display correctly.

It's super annoying for me as well. My solution is to view the playlist in Apple Music where "download all" button is available.

When viewing playlist in library, click the circular "…" button above the playlist description and choose "Show in Apple Music" in the drop-down menu. If it's a private playlist, you have to tick the "publish it on profile" box first.

There is still no way to force an upload of a certain track if you are getting a mismatch, right?. Remastered and expanded versions of albums are still getting matched with the regular version present on the iTunes Store, despite the sound signature being very different. Very annoying.

Missing Features

  1. Column browser - Good News - It's Back v1.0.2.19 - In View Menu - See Screen Shot
  2. Internet radio (old style streaming stations)
  3. Filter playlists (search in playlists) View -> Show Filter Field (Still does not persist between switching playlists Music 1.0.3.1 ) very annoying when using column browser
  4. Multiple library selection (option clicking when opening the app).
  5. Can't keep files where they are when importing new music Working if unchecking Copy Files to Music Media folder in preferences
  6. Can't import old iTunes library except once when updating to Catalina place copy of old iTunes library in "music" folder and hold option key to choose the library to open it and import
  7. Album/song view: Can't view albums in place. Music has a separate page for every album. Artist view can view them in a list.
  8. In song view, the options to "always show artwork" and "sort by artwork" have been removed
  9. No option for setting grid size in album view. ie in iTunes you could have 13 albums on each row, in Music only 5. Makes scrolling through library tedious.
  10. Can't view a bigger version of the album art from Now playing. (in iTunes you could cmd + click to open a bigger artwork. This was separate from the mini player which wouldn't resize quite large and won't open in iTunes full screen)
  11. Gestures missing in Apple Music (compare to iTunes Store where gestures still work)
  12. According to marketing material, playlist sidebar is meant to have icons based on album art or custom - coming in future update (?). Still nothing in 1.0.4.x.
  13. No way to rename playlists inline either from the sidebar or in playlist title on main page. When clicking rename or double clicking, a new dialog box with text box to edit the name pops up. Seems very kludgy.
  14. The iOS iTunes Remote app doesn't work yet with the Music app. Still shocking that the app has not been updated yet. App update required, sync manually not through Home Sharing (see troubleshooting)
  15. XML library is no longer automatically generated for "sharing info" to other apps but can still be created via "Export Library" – this causes issues for some DJ software.
  16. Ripping old CD's into "Music" Still does not seem to add "Non Apple" Artwork - requires manually adding artwori
  17. Siri can't control Music
  18. AirPods gestures can't control Music
Bugs
  1. Library can disappear completely (see troubleshooting)
  2. Crash on deleting multiple playlists (iCloud syncing issue?)
  3. Locks up on Updating Cloud Music Library
  4. Album art can be missing both in local/iCloud playlists
  5. Can't uncheck Update Album Art
  6. Views and sorting settings for playlist are not saved through restarts (fixed in b5)
  7. Error 9309 on opening after force quit/crash
  8. Genius results can’t be updated right now. An Unknown error occured (18004) (4001). This also happens in iTunes under Catalina.
  9. Consolidate files does not works: the files are not copied to the Media folder (fixed in b8)
  10. Logged out of Apple Music. No way to sign in. When trying to sign up with a plan, get a dialog that says I am already a member. Then get shuffled to the genres you love screen with the next button obscured by the Apple Music ad.
  11. Does not connect to Apple servers to collect iTunes Match data.
  12. Apple Music: See All (top songs/albums etc.) on artist page doesn’t do anything
  13. A new playlist is not created takes a long time to appear when creating from an album in Apple Music. To reproduce, click the "More" (the three dots (•••) button on an album in browsing mode of Apple Music, then select "Add to Playlist," which then provides a long list of playlists, including "New Playlist.". Takes a long time with a "Creating playlist in Library" in activitiy. Causes error 9,039.
  14. Playlist/albums scroll positions aren't retained if you switch away from them. Album now retains position as of 1.0.2.37
  15. Some of the advanced playback features (for example Sound Check, Equalizer settings, Volume Adjust and Start/Stop) are not working when AirPlay playback is enabled.
  16. On a wired (Ethernet) connection with WiFi off, try selecting an AirPlay output in Music. The primary network connection will immediately drop out and take some time to reestablish itself. Any network traffic (e-mail, file transfers, etc.) will be interrupted. (Holdover bug from iTunes)
Issues
  1. AppleScript / Scrobblers / Keyboard remote apps addressing “iTunes.app” no longer working
  2. UI conventions from iOS are unwelcome, especially the slide-in lyrics / playing next panes
  3. Remote app (iOS) not working
  4. Filter field is ugly. Shows redundant "Filter text" label and takes up too much space. Does not persist between switching playlists.
  5. Back button is ugly. Redesigned in 1.0.1, but still a single button on same spaced line as "Filter text"
  6. Loading the library can take a long time, especially after a force quit. Even on SSD.
  7. Beachball when switching to any library view or playlist for the first time (SSD).
  8. The stoplights buttons are aligned too far to the left
  9. The hover zoom in Apple Music is blurry on non-retina screens Hover effect removed in b6
  10. Same font weight and size and tighter kerning for both primary/secondary text (instead of say Bold artist, regular title) in Apple music. Only differentiation is font colour/brightness. Harder to read and scan - especially on non-retina screens.
  11. Switching to Music from any other app has a delay
Troubleshooting
  1. To rebuild your library, try deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Music.plist then
    1. Move your music out of the Music folder and delete everything left in it.
    2. cd ~/Library and remove any folders that have Music or iTunes in the name
    3. cd ~/Library/Caches and delete any folders with Music or iTunes in the name
    4. Reboot
    5. Put your music folders back where you had them before. You may need to Import your music again to let the Music app organize them in a way that makes sense to it
  2. OR:
This Applescript will force playlist re-build from original "iTunes Music Library.xml"
    https://github.com/dimecho/iTunes-Catalina
  3. Music Store can be enabled under view and in preferences.
  4. Pseudo column browser under Artists (Library > Edit) (no longer needed as column browser is back!)
  5. Home Sharing has moved to the Sharing pane in System Preferences (Media Sharing)
  6. Some sync issues for older iPods fixed by installing ItunesAccess https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/has-anyone-gotten-an-ipod-shuffle-2nd-gen-to-work.2196567/
  7. Switching all your playlists (back) to song view is quicker if you add a keyboard shortcut (System Prefs -> Keyboard) to this View item:
    View attachment 870422
  8. Doug Adams have started updating all his scripts for Music
  9. You may need to connect the remote app manually and not with home sharing:
open remote app => tap settings in upper right corner => add iTunes library => in the music app in your Mac: look for the remote app symbol (arrow with your iPhone name) and enter the 4 digits
  10. Music always starting in full screen mode? Close Music, run

    defaults delete com.apple.Music

    in Terminal, and reopen Music.
  11. Seeing as we are stuck with 1.0.4.104 for Catalina, your best solution is probably to just install iTunes again.
New welcome features:
  1. New top bar View attachment 857531
  2. Indented selection of playlists - gone again.
  3. Real-time lyrics in pane, mini-player and full screen mode (1.0.4.89)
  4. New Full screen mode activated from mini-player zoom button or keyboard shortcut

Good Morning everyone, hope you are doing alright giving the situation. Since a few days back, I've been having troubles with album artwork not loading in 'For You' tab. 10.15.4 didn't fix it. Any help? I'm very disappointed with the Music app, it feels like an alpha version, it doesn't feel like an Apple app.

I have the same problem:

Music is still super buggy. I haven't found a solution yet... The supplemental 10.15.4 update didn't fix it.

Have you solved it? In my iPhone, For You tab is working fine. I might try to start over and transfer my library, but I don't know how to do it without messing up. There is a new Music Library file within the Music folder, so I don't understand what it has to do with the old iTunes Media folder.

Have a nice day!

I have no solution. I have deleted all the setting files and logged out and so on but no go. As you say, the Mac app is very buggy. On my iPhone, iPad and on the web-player everything is working fine.

Well, as it turns out, there IS a way to force an upload to Apple Music/Icloud Music Library, at least on Mac OS Catalina. Take your wrongly mismatched CD or lossless audio files, and convert them to 96/24 files in AIFF format. Then, import them to the music app. They will be uploaded instead of matched.

The question is: Does upsampling 16/44 audio to 96/24 deteriorates audio quality?
