I thought if that, but Apple has decided the pins will be stainless steel and I'm not sure how much that will clash with the black.
I wouldn't worry too much about it - I've been wearing both the blue and green bands with my Space Gray Sport and it's never been a problem. When you're wearing it, you never see the pin and the watch body at the same time, and the "non colored" silver pin blends into the liter color straps decently, where a black pin would really stand out. On the original black sport band that came with the watch, the black pin makes more sense, since everything else (the watch body, screen, band) is black - in that case, a silver pin would have stood out.

Now, if they made every sport band's pin color-matched to its strap, that would be cool.

I got mine at the Upper East Side store, but for those few minutes that in store pickup was available online, it was available at all of the Manhattan stores.
Thanks -- as of yesterday afternoon around 5:00 PM all NYC Apple stores did not have many of the new sports band colors, including midnight blue and red. May have to check back at a later date or order it online.

Over in the (RED) band thread we are finding that our bands are getting ready to ship, far ahead of estimates. Mine was ordered Friday night after I couldn't find them in stores. It is currently "Preparing for Shipment". My estimate was 3-4 weeks.

The SS Red Band original picture I shared above was taken outside in bright sunlight so you can see what it looks like in bright light.

1st picture is with my OEM Apple iPad Mini red cover - ver similar in color. 2nd picture is with my Red Wings jersey which is a primary red color. 3rd picture is indoors under fluorescent lighting at Costco. 4th picture is the watch on top of a Coca-Cola can pack wrapper.

The red band color is not a primary red or "fire truck red" color - Sir Ive would not let that happen. It is basically a primary red slightly skewed towards the orange side of the color spectrum.

Off topic, but what shopping list app is that?? Shoppy??

Hi, It is bit darker and you won't be disappointed. Here is more accurate comparison between two.

RE: Stone band color. That's a relief. Thanks for the additional photo showing the black/white/midnight blue/stone for side by side comparisons. I just told my DH to pick up the Stone while he was in the Store since they didn't have the Red or Midnight Blue. I have the white sport band already so was wondering if I'd made a mistake with that color and should have gone darker. I'll have mine tonight. Have to say I'm excited to have more sport band colors to chose from.

update: I just posted an indoor nighttime photo of my Stone Band along with my White Band in this thread. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/new-sport-bands.1914191/page-2#post-21886459 Will add a few daytime photos as well.

Any ideas on how quickly stores refresh stock? I was in one Apple store that said they sold out of most of the new colors of sports bands last Friday, but to come back periodically to see if they've refreshed their stock.

Thursday I got notified that my turquoise sports band, ordered a week or so ago (and still had a couple weeks on the clock), had shipped, and would arrive next Thursday. On Wednesday, after visiting the Apple Store to check out some of the new colors, I ordered a Product Red one, expected to arrive in 3-4 weeks. But Friday (yesterday), I was notified it had shipped, and will arrive this coming Wednesday. So one week instead of 3-4. Curiously, the turquoise is coming from China and requires a signature, while the Product Red one is coming from Hong Kong and does not require a signature.

FWIW, the app Delivery Status (Mac/iOS) from junecloud.com, can track Apple shipments, as well as Amazon, UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc. So it's checking obsessively for me :D

Understandably not for everyone, here are alternatives not offered by Apple. Available at amazon.com by MoKo:

FYI, the green one is an Apple band.

I can tell from the connecting buttons. Personally I'm not into bold primary/secondary colors so this wouldn't be an option for me. I am sure there are plenty of clothing items out there however that they would coordinate with nicely. I do plan to get a red sport band but it will be an Apple one.

Are the middle and dark blue the "blue" and "indigo" options? And which id the lightest blue? I have both a blue and indigo from Moko on order since the OEM Apple blue was lighter than I wanted.

I got the purple Moko in on Friday, and I love it. Though if Apple came out with a real sport band in the same color, I'd definitely buy it. The color of the Moko band is great, the quality isn't Apple - the silicone has a different flexibility and feel to it, feels not-quite-sticky to the touch, the connectors are more fiddly (they lock in, but not as smoothly as Apple's parts), you can see the metal sub layer that anchors the latch mechanism, through the silicone, with just a touch of discoloration from this showing next to the watch, and the "button" on top of the pin has more squared off edges that make it not feel as nice to attach and detach - this last might be necessitated by the different flexibility of the silicone. So, good, but not up to Apple's standards. But it sure does go nice with the purple color on the modular face. :D

I've got Apple turquoise and red sport bands inbound, and the turquoise is now scheduled to arrive Monday.

I received my red band yesterday , the original ship date said October 5. I'm ordering orange next. Love the option of changing bands.
