Just curious. How can u ship iMacs across Europe?
I thought Applestores only sold them in the country they are based in.

Unless there is another online store that ships them.

Im from Greece and I was really looking on what are my options here!

100% predicatable isn't it. At least your journey home will have an extra incentive. Do post how it goes.

So far, it's my worst Mac ever.

Right out of the box, the screen has red vertical and white horizontal lines on it. Reserved a seat with the Genius Bar right away.

This doesn't bode well. :(

Aye, I don't know what I'll do if mine is dodgey. There no apple stores anywhere near me and I've never even seen what a genius bar is or even know if they exist in the UK (I suppose they do). I'd have to post it all the way back again, wait a few weeks for them to get round to looking at it and then have it/new one shipped all the way back again (or even have them say its fine and have it shipped back still dodgey anyway, taking up weeks of time for no reason... man I hope its ok!) :D

Sorry to hear about yours minik, I'm sure with a problem that clear they'll sort you out quickly.

Thanks guy.

I just found out that I'm eligible for on-site service. However, I would still prefer to goto the actual Apple Store for an exchange or repair.

Luckily, I still have my PowerMac G5 with me. If you're not aware of, I thought my G5 was RIP a week ago. It turned out the original Apple RAM went bad.

What's wrong with me and my Macs these days?

I hope you guys receive your 100% solid iMacs very soon.

Mine is also shipping from the Czech Republic, but since when did Apple stop using China? My last 2 machines where both shipped from China.

Foxconn has a long long history of building Macs. I can remember Foxconn also made the original Xbox in their facility in the Czech Republic. Foxconn today manufactures mostly in China.

Foxconn used to build Macs in Singapore many years ago...

I am curious to know what the first few characters of your serial number is (as this specifies the factory)

That looks like it could be a logic board problem or a bad GPU. Yours is the only report I've seen yet of such an issue on the new revision at any rate. I'm quite sure Apple will sort it for you. :)

Just use Coconut Identity Card to get the information you seek. ;)

im in France and my imac was shipped from Netherlands

And I am in Holland and my iMac was shipped from Czech Republic. Still listed for delivery today, but no import in Holland received, it was in Nuernberg this night.

Well, my old iMac is great too, although the apple-key and the R-key are showing its age.

Right. I totally forgot the graphic card issue. Guess I have been reading too many screen related matters on MR.

May 3, 2008 9:49 AM Departed FedEx location SACRAMENTO, CA

no update since  grrrrrr hurry!!! =P

Just got home to find a nice surprise, my iMac has arrived 1 day early!! :D Just busy downloading software updates and getting everything set-up just the way i like it. :apple:

No problems to report so far...

Since I ended up with a hairy iMac from the Manchester store (which I took back and got refunded on) I ordered mine back on 29 April and although it shipped on 03 May, the online store reckons it won't be here until 13 - 14 May!!! I only added Applecare, Wireless mouse and RAM!!!

(yes I added apple RAM - unusual for me but it was only £25 difference from crucial)

It's also being shipped from the Czech Republic and I've been told I will only be able to track it once the packages (iMac and AppleCare) meet in the UK...

I've still gotta wait a whole week!!!!!!! LIVID!

Who's it being shipped with ? I'm with UPS from Prague. I just put the tracking number in from the Apple Web site into the UPS site and hey presto I can see where it's been... and got to.
Left Poland on the 5th.. Currently in Tamworth as of 11am this morning.

Mine's on the truck finally. I'm just waiting at home for it to show up...

Very eager. Also hope mine doesn't have the crazy line problem. o_O

Well, when I check it from the UK online store it says that no carrier is assigned. However, if I check from the US online store it says that it is being shipped via Syncreon (who apparently are an amalgamation of Walsh Western and TDS Logistics). I know Walsh have shipped Dell machines at work.

Anyway, when I click on the track button from the US online apple store, it reveals a tracking number that begins with WW so I presume it is actually being shipped via Walsh Western. When I got to the WW site to use the track and trace facility, I have to enter a customer number and an order number. I don't have a customer number though. ERGH! Frustrating!

ok just got mine =O

about to open the box... wish me luck, i'm hoping everything is intact and works fine =/

Was your's on-time or late? Mine STILL says In Transit from Reno, NV (last update was Saturday May 3rd) and it is estimated to arrive today (though Apple said it could arrive anywhere between May 5-9).

The Reno, NV update didn't occur until Monday - so I'm afraid the package was attempted to be delivered today, but wasn't signed for, and is sitting in their local distribution center - but I won't find out this tidbit of information until tomorrow!

Arrgh, what's the point of online package tracking if the updates are stale?

iMac Shipping

OK, my new iMac custom build arrived today. It was ordered April 28 (day of announcement) and took a FULL three days to build. I went cheap and opted for the free shipping. It was Picked up by FedEx in San Jose on April 30 at 9:30PM and arrive today, May 7. I am in Charlotte, NC.

I'm used to free UPS shipping from amazon.com taking about 3 day. This felt WAY too long! Of course this is my first Mac so my excitement level was high and I was checking the tracking number multiple times a day.

The bottom line is if you want your mac quick... pay extra for shipping. After I shelled out for the nVidia card and a 750gb hard drive I should of spent a few more bucks for quicker shipping.

Would you mind posting the route it took from San Jose to Charlotte, NC? I live in Charlottesville, VA so I'm thinking the route couldn't be much different. Basically I am wondering if it stayed on the truck from Reno (I'm assuming yours got scanned at Reno too) until Charlotte, or if it got scanned anywhere else along the route. Also am interested in the time delays between scans.

Getting anxious

mine was on time but my tracking updates weren't too great.... it said "left sacramento" and for 3 days, then LATEEEE the night before delivery date it updated to arrived at my city.

and this is my first switch to mac from PC, so hoopefully it'll copntinue to go well. sorry bout the typos.. got 2 keyboards on the desk and arms are everywhere =O
