Well, when I check it from the UK online store it says that no carrier is assigned. However, if I check from the US online store it says that it is being shipped via Syncreon (who apparently are an amalgamation of Walsh Western and TDS Logistics). I know Walsh have shipped Dell machines at work.

Anyway, when I click on the track button from the US online apple store, it reveals a tracking number that begins with WW so I presume it is actually being shipped via Walsh Western. When I got to the WW site to use the track and trace facility, I have to enter a customer number and an order number. I don't have a customer number though. ERGH! Frustrating!

Know the feeling! Ordered a 3.06GHz with wireless mouse and AppleCare on the 29th (lateish afternoon). Shipment was originally estimated at 5th May, but it slipped a day, so arrival has moved out to the 15th (previously 13th-14th). Still - it hasn't stopped me from checking the tracking page every few hours for the last few days!

Decided to make the permanent switch from a 4 year old self-build PC (after 3 or 4 too many BSODs and NTFS rebuilds) - having trialled MacOS X via a 12" Powerbook for the last few months to ensure the wife can cope with the brave new world! :) Although, I've always hated PCs and it was a "needs-must" sort of item. I guess I feel that in terms of hobbyist computing I'm switching from my trusty Amiga A4000! :D I do like my menus at the top after all!

Can't wait now... it's like waiting for Christmas, but not knowing what date it's on! (I couldn't even hold on until the new Belfast Apple Store opens up!)

Got mine in, just spent ALL day waiting on it. No screen issues to announce. I guess I got one of the good ones?

Let the waiting begin...

I ordered mine yesterday morning, and as of this afternoon it is "prepared for shipment". I'm guessing it's on my desk early next week, and I'm looking forward to that.

What's the latest migration wisdom with Leopard, Migration Assistant via firewire or from Time Machine via Ethernet?

Woohoo out for delivery. Shame it's going to my parents... I won't get to see it until I get back from Kenya (work shipping me out at short notice).. hence why it's 04:50am and I'm still in owrk :(

My order tracking is still talking nonsense.
My courier details have finally been updated a whole week after actually shipping. My last update was on around the 1st when it said delivery estimate was 12th and that it updated this info on the 6th (the future!). This mornaing I have carrier details, though the tracking number they gave me is just the same as the customer reference and thus useless, and the carrier info is just "UK DISTRIBUTION CENTER" so again, not telling me who's got it.
What is interesting is that it says the details were updated on the 7th (yesturday), yet me delivery estimate has been brought forward from the 12th to the 6th!!!!
So my order has traveled in to the future, and now back into the past.
Crazyness. Be nice if this thing actually worked, I can't believe any of it anymore.
Ah well. It should be here by monday... I hope...

Last update: May 6, around 01:00 in Nurnberg. So I decided to give Apple a call yesterday what happened. Oh well, it's unusual, yadda yadda, if nothing appears on the tracker, I will give a call to TNT.

Well, the guy from Apple did and phoned me back yesterday that this time the iMac was really on transport and would be delivered to my house today (Thursday). It has yet to show up in the tracker, so I don't believe it's gonna make it today.

Ordering at Apple Store is so funny. It is easier to ship from China then from Czech Republic to Holland and sometimes it arrives 1 day early, but most of the times it arrives 1 week late.

UK DISTRIBUTION CENTER ??

thats what it says for my assigned carrier...

UK Distribution Centre must mean it's close. If you saw that yesterday, you might find that it will be here today! Let us know...

Mine says exactly the same about UK Distribution Centre. I have spoken to Apple today and the lady said that it is in the Netherlands at the UK Distribution! What a joke. Apparently the consignment is 1,000+ iMac's and the reason why they can't release the exact information is because of security issues. Are they having a laugh!

I ordered a 24'', 3.06, Nvidia, 750GB from german apple store on May, 2th. Estimated shipment was May, 8th and this was correct. Machine shipped this morning. ETA May, 14th. No idea where it gets shipped from, but hopefully it'll be here quicker. Berlin is far east and not far from Czech, if this is the new place they be shipped from in europe. My last ordered machine came from singapore end of last year, and when I returned it (due to crappiest display ever seen, 20'' iMac :-( ) was send to the Netherlands. Really the iMacs are born to travel in there first days of life. ;-)

Oh!

Then again... UK Distribution Centre could mean it's in another country altogether! Deary me!!!

I really think Apple need to look at how it's customers can reliably track the gear they purchase from them. I spoke to an Apple agent yesterday and although she was very polite and wanted to be helpful, she couldn't give me a clue as to where my iMac was. She said they (Apple in general) know where it is, but she (as an agent) didn't. Not confidence inspiring... I think most people will agree that this is very frustrating. Plus, if DELL can do it, why not Apple?

Route info

Would you mind posting the route it took from San Jose to Charlotte, NC? I live in Charlottesville, VA so I'm thinking the route couldn't be much different. Basically I am wondering if it stayed on the truck from Reno (I'm assuming yours got scanned at Reno too) until Charlotte, or if it got scanned anywhere else along the route. Also am interested in the time delays between scans.

Getting anxious

Here you go Enuratique:

Apr 30, 2008 9:13 PM Picked up SAN JOSE, CA
May 1, 2008 5:25 AM Arrived at FedEx location SACRAMENTO, CA
May 1, 2008 9:57 AM Departed FedEx location SACRAMENTO, CA
May 2, 2008 11:51 PM In transit MEMPHIS, TN
May 6, 2008 2:33 PM Arrived at FedEx location CHARLOTTE, NC
May 7, 2008 4:17 AM On FedEx vehicle for delivery CHARLOTTE, NC

When FedEx says ground, they really mean it. I wonder why they didn't show and arrived and departed timestamp for Memphis?

When you get your iMac check the disk size. The formatted capacity is much less than 750gb, more like 690gb.

If they count in gibibyte or gigabyte, who cares. It's plenty of space for me anyway. Actually I'm more worried to get one with display issues. Hopefully not as harsh as this one.

Yeah!! The website has just updated and TNT delivering it tomorrow. Hope everyone gets there's too!!

Mine shipped yesterday from San Jose, arrived Sacramento at 4am today. The estimated arrival in Connecticut just changed from May 14th to May 10th! Is that really even possible? Does FedEx ground even deliver on Saturdays??? That would be great if it's true. I ordered a Firewire 800 cable to migrate from my current computer to the new one, but now it might not even get here before the new iMac! I have a firewire 400 cable and an ethernet cable hooked up to time machine hard drive. What's my best migration option?

Well, sadly, it does not matter that Berlin is very close to Czech. They will deliver via the Netherlands anyway. At least that's what my UPS track shows:

Desperately awaiting delivery....
(2.8; 500Gig; Nvidia 8800)

Mines now got a TNT tracking number too. TNT havn't got a delivery estimate though, so I'm probably stil behind you guys. Mine just says TNT will pick it up today. Do TNT delivery on saturdays? Or will it be delayed until Monday if its not Friday?
(though tbh, my wife is out on friday so unless they leave it with a neighbor, which I doubt they will, it wont get delivered anyway)

Mine's got a tracking number from TNT too now! Wa HEY!

But, I think I might not bother opening it, send it back, and get a stock mac pro and 23" display with my student discount instead... just a thought for now...

Got my iMac

Mine came today a day earlier than it was supposed to be delivered :D 2.8 24" 500gb 2gb ram I couldn't be happier! :D except i do not want to have to transfer my files from my xp laptop EVER again! :( nightmare!

Mine was showing up as the 15th this morning, but I just checked it and it's with TNT and supposed to be being delivered tomorrow :)

TNT says it's "out for delivery", at this time of night? (Nearly 11pm)

Well... my TNT tracking now say "call for informaiton about this delivery" with an orange explanation mark spinning.
Aye me... thats now three times during this order my tracking has been weird. Hopefully its just not fully updated, and not that they've lost it or something! The apple site says delivery for today so who knows. Not that anyone will be in for all but a couple of hours mid-day! Crazyness.

You need to change the option on the front page from domestic to international on the tnt uk website to get tracking information. My imac is 10 miles away now, but hasn't left the depot. I have to do something for 15 minutes this afternoon, so no doubt it will come then :(
