Nice mock-ups.

The original iMacs were that way to make an impression in the marketplace and present a theme of change and progressivity, after years of beige boxes in a failed attempt to attract business.

The iPod market is very clearly consumer and young/hip focus. Having colors is sensible.

Flower power was not their biggest seller, but it was in many of their marketing campaigns to make a point. Having a flagship or even an outlier product is sensible. People still fixate on it!

Then have the boring units for the lemmings you are really selling to. :)

Hi Steve.

Rocketman

The current colors BTW are more professional then these connects... God forbid no neon colors

I doubt very much there trying to target us "kids". They might not even be childish colours, if you want a professional one buy the ipod classic or ipod touch, the recent ipod nano's have always had a colour range

clam down kid, and re read my post... this is for feature products not current

just chill, everything is going to be alright;)

perhaps something similar to the iphone (iknow i know cliche) but white back frontbezel another color? etc etc

or solid color body and multicolored wheel?

id think a gradient esque Nano would look spectacular

i just dont think it would make much sense having it like the previous imacs, since there are a lot of skins out there you can apply to you ipods at any given time.

exciting to hear, cant wait to see....or "touch" ;)

Maybe people dont want a professional looking ipod? Just one for fun?

sigh..... re read my post I said the current ones are more professional....

colors are fine if they are done right, but so far these patterns and neon colors artn setting ,me

FLOWER POWER iMAC NOT UGLY!!!!! I liked the flower power iMac, it was out there and it had personality!

Don

To avoid the mistake they should make the outside skin more like a faceplate and offer the plates. Either included (for the user to change as the mood suits them) or as a purchased kit, "Nano Faceplate Pack." If they did that it would open vendors to sell more colors (apple to only offer a few) and for that matter maybe different textures, etc, even p00p Zune brown if you so choose.

No offense, but i think that's a terrible idea, faceplates are always tacky and never work right.

This doesn't really fit with Steve's liking for sealed units - and isn't this what cell phones makers were doing 8 or so years ago?

and now no cell phone makers are doing it, hmmm....

That's kinda what I had in mind, but from darker to mid range. Or of course from color-to-color (here's my quickie try, showing the effect done with a color-to-color option that hopefully Apple will pass up)

Actually i think that it looks really good

I predict

I predict that apple will kill off the ipod nano and the ipod classic. I think all new ipods will now be wifi capable and able to connect to itunes store like the ipod touch and iphone.

That must mean the dead of the click wheel, if the wheel dies then expect to see a mini ipod touch replace the nano.

Does anyone remember Apple's patent for color changing surfaces/computers?

Multi-Coloured iPod Nano could adopt the same colour pattern of the iMac Al.

If you observe the iMac and the iPod Nano, they look very similar in form factor. This leads me to believe that the iMac with every revision will get tapered and eventually thin enough that its it not physically possible. This also leads me to believe that the iPod Nano will start adopting the black halo that surrounds the screen.

:apple: has been know to test design ideas in new products before jumping in with both feet for a full release. They did it with the translucent plastic buttons, then utilized its look for the iMac and then the G3 PowerMac.

This is no different. :)

I was really hoping for something about new macbooks, as I'm getting kind of antsy trying to hold myself off on purchasing my first Mac.

I believe during MW Paris 04' it was mentioned that with the introduction of the iMac G5 that it shared similar form factor and style to help link the iPod with the iMac G5.

So either the iMac will share design and colour specs with the iPod line or vise versa.

I personally can't envision how multi-colored iPods would be better than solid colors, but I bet Apple will surprise me.

All I want them to have is wi-fi. As long as they have that then I'll be happy. Sharing music, using it as a remote, connecting to airtunes. It'd be great.
