Dear god U2/Bono is crap - I wish they would just slip into obscurity and stop punishing the population with their garbage.

Now they are pushing cold play.... we might see a cold play ipod.... knowing apple

I'm thinking the new features will be multi-touch in a full screen Nano. This will make way for the iPhone Nano which will be smaller than the regular iPhone with less storage.

And as for color, how 'bout Brown? That brown Zune was a BIG hit!

I hope this rumour stays just that. I think if iPods ever became multi-coloured then they would look hideous. That being said, if there's anyone who could make a multi-coloured design look good, it's Apple.
Don't know if its been said, but it appears that the iPod event is 17th-20th Sep, with new products being released on the 17th.

http://uk.apple-expo.com/

Apple usually has a event in the first 2 weeks of September-last year it was the 5th.

I cannot believe that the iPod Classic still exists, I mean how much mobile storage for music do people really need before it becomes too risky for fear of loss.

64-128GB is about the most storage for music someone would need, unlike those who want Apple Lossless music since they claim they can hear the difference while wearing headphones.

Who an iPod to listen to music while at home, use your computer instead. The iPod was designed to be a mobile jukebox and nothing more.

The iPod Touch seems to make the path of future development because of the iPhone OS X project, which leave the iPod Classic and Nano in jeopardy. :apple: seems to be pulling and releasing any trick in the book to revise the iPod Classic and Nano line. However we all know this will die sometime if not soon in the near future.

I still cannot believe there is no DiskMode on the iPod Touch.

Yup. Here is how it will go down:

Holiday Season 2008
- 4 GB Shuffle
- 8 & 16 GB Nanos with new colors & software features (maybe iTunes WIFI)
- 16, 32, & 64 GB Touch
- 80 & 160 GB Classics with the new software features (maybe iTunes WIFI)
- 32 GB iPhone 3G after the new year sometime

Holiday Season 2009
- 8 GB Shuffle
- 16 & 32 GB Nano Touch (2.8" screen same resolution as iPhone/Touch)
- 32, 64, & 128 GB Touch
- 16 GB iPhone Nano (2.8" screen same resolution as iPhone/Touch)
- 32, & 64 GB iPhone 4G with iChat Video

Or something very close to that :) They will also release the Tablet/Bigger Touch sometime this year or early 2009.

See through cases, or Holographic cases, or just holographs, I'm sure they would sell like Hotcakes (whatever those are).

na. this is 2008, not 1999/2000.

Apple's Flower Power iMac is one reminiscent example of Apple exploring multicolored devices in the past. After being named one of the ugliest products in tech history by PCWorld, we would hope Apple has learned from their mistakes.

Hey, my 6 year old liked her "flower power imac" when it came out (it's still running), as did her Grandma who has a matching machine (also, still running).

Apple should get rid of the shuffle line and combine it with the nano line in something like this

all touch screen (of course the UI would be something a little more similar to the iPod interface on the iPhone.)

That would be pretty cool, but now that I think about it more... How many versions of OS X do you think Apple wants to have going??? What they want to do is consolidate. Therefore what I really see happening is the Nano going Touch AKA iPhone OS X, and the Shuffle will disappear by 2009 sometime.

Are you trying to be crucified? Bono followers know their music. There's a reason U2 is hailed one of the greatest bands of today, and of all time.

Anyhow. Let's consider this people.....

Multicolored doesn't have to mean the face.

What if the front is some anodized color as is now, and the back, instead of chrome, is another color, like the 2nd gen Nanos - metal all the way around. That or even colored chrome on the back.

Anything is possible. Jony Ive never did wrong by my book. Things only get better. :)

multi side iPod... with interface on both sides that folds in half and interacts with both hands and screens, it uses more advanced pressured touch gestures.

Something along these lines would be pretty sweet. I know a lot of people don't like watching video on the current Nano's screen, but I don't have any problems viewing TV shows on it. Movies are a tad iffy, but if the screen covered the entire face it probably wouldn't be too bad.

Assuming that the case is roughly the same size as the current Nano's, but it's all screen, would it even be possible to fit WiFi in something that small? I seem to remember comments from someone at Apple that they were focusing on getting more WiFi enabled iPods on the market at some point.

Oh, I love my shuffle! It's the PERFECT gym companion. Having music options is distracting in the gym. I make sure there's good music on it and it's good to go.

Cool, but it would need a better UI, as when it starts getting small, you start needing a stylus to touch the functions, as most fingers will be too big, including the iPhone UI.

Looks like the iRiver, though...

That's why I suggested it'd need something more like the iPod interface on the iPhone, however it should keep the hierarchal menu structure of the current iPod nano, classic.

I wanna try.....

They want one. They hope some day to have both the iphones OS and the macs OS be the same. Perhaps Snow leopard will be the first step and by mac OSX 6 we will see that.

Now if Microsoft can only to the same instead of tring to please everyone they piss them off

calm down. Times change, move on.

I did mock-ups of the 2G nano a couple of years ago, hmmm.....

looks ugly. No offence but I'd like to see some more modern colors then some colors some dumb 13 year old likes

Now thats not that bad. The side can have eirther physical buttons or a touch sensitive button to control the volume, play/pause etc.

I hope apple can create some products to complete with sony, LG etc. Time to get some glossy, blacks, whites, slivers, cromes in here....

I really think they just need to stick to solid colors and let case manufacturers do multicolor wackiness. I just don't see them selling well but who knows.
