I don't like any of those things - I just posted similar on another thread.
iOS is my opinion is out of date and lagging behind, i wont use apple music after what they did to the independent artist regardless of the u-turn after Taylor Swifts letter. The apple eco system is corrupt, you should be allowed to move your purchases from brand to brand as and when you want. The purchases should also be in an independent cloud platform. IMO this is far worse than MS and the internet explorer debacle of old. Media you can get into iTunes, but thats a total dog that should be put down to save us all from its misery...

I dont know the truth about GT and most of the stuff is a little cloudy but i agree, they bullied GT and then dropped them in the trash when it wasn't going their way. Sure the fanboys wont agree..

I dont have double standards, I'm binary, its on or off and I'm not brand loyal to ANYONE.

It still does sound a bit strange given all the high-end Apple devices you feature in your signature. That's quite an impressive collection, by the way. :)

My point is that none of those larger companies operate with particularly high ethical standards, including Apple. If ethics play a significant role in someone's buying decision, I think Linux would be the way to go for OS and Jolla for phone/tablets.

Pricing is as expected really. Sony and Samsung flagships will always be IPhone level money. However as always wait a little for their significant price drops.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Blimey! The new Compact is only £50 less than the standard size Z5. That's a brave move. But carriers will most likely just charge the same for them anyway.
But I'm sure the Z3 and Z3 Compact had more of a price gap?

I actually think Sony have a right to charge near enough to the normal Z5 for the Compact...

The only difference is 1GB RAM less and the screen, really. Yeah 50 quid less is probably fair! Everything else is the same, albeit in a different form factor.

If the Compact didn't have various stuff, then yeah the price difference would reflect it.

I like the Z5 Premium, lets see if I get it come November... :)
Me too.

Yeah the price is high but not too much more than other big hitters.

If the camera shines then it could be a stunner:

- 5.5 screen @ 806ppi (VR ready)
- 23mp camera with new sensor
- 3,430mAh battery (yeah it'll need it)
- Quick Charge 2
- waterproof
- SD card slot
- Chrome build
- SD810 / AD430 (can it drive 4k?)
- Near-stock software
- Fingerprint scanner

This could be an all round great phone, likewise the Z5.

Don't mess this one up Sony...

Yeah I want to see not just reviews but read people's hands on experience with it from a battery and peformance standpoint. They really messed up the z3+ and I'm still skeptical over need for 800dpi screens on performance of other apps and multitasking (more pixels to push, more ram used, less multitasking peformance)

The teal Z5 looks nice. There's simply too many phones aghhh. I will pick up either the Z5 or Z5P at some point, likely in the new year when we have a quiet period before the next wave in Spring.

Yup, if they nail the camera then I'm definitely in.

Just yesterday I wanted to get some shots of my boy's first day at school. On the way, my OP2 and S6 were fine with the OP2 missing a couple of motion shots (slow focus whilst walking).

Inside results, where it wasn't exactly dark, were a bit hit and miss. The OP2 struggled and even the S6 struggled to focus on what was seemingly obvious (a child in the foreground!). The S6 tap to focus and shoot was obviously much better.

This is an unfair comparison but all the while I was also using my RX100 iii which, unsurprisingly nailed every shot - rapid focus, rapid fire, great results. If I can rely on a phone camera to get the job done every single time (capturing memories of children is usually a one-time chance) I'll be first in line.
This looks VERY promising news on the camera: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/legal/testresults/xperia-z5/

(Only caveat is the source)
That does look promising so I hope the new Exmor RS has been kept exclusive by them for good reason. The sceptic in me wonders what other manufacturers might do with the same sensor. After all, Sony were usually outdone by Samsung and others with the software and processing.

Really interested in this as well as the 6S Plus... another usually trustworthy rarely-miss-a-shot device.

Oh, almost forgot... poor M9 :(

Oooh the RX100 iii is so lovely. Have always considered picking one up for exactly the situations you describe.

Do we know what storage sizes it'll come in? I don't want to use microSD cards...

The frustrating thing about the unlocked Z3 in America was that it came with only 16GB onboard. The rest would rely on microSD.

The whole Sony release fiasco in the US has me wary. I mean you could get the Z3 on TMO then there was the Z4v edition that was exclusive to Verizon. I wouldn't mind trying the Z5 but not sure how it will be released in the States.

I believe 32gb only possibly but all have SD card slots I think up to 200GB, should be enough? And I think Android 6 will let you install to SD card too.

And as said above, the US release of the Z5 range seems to be very up in the air, T Mobile have said no thanks.

Thats what I dont get with you SD card slot fanboys. Even with an SD card you cant use it. MY Sony devices have 16gb internal and 128gb SD cards but the cards are empty. You cant save anything on them. I have Sky Go and Amazon Prime Video and would love to save the downloadable movies and TV shows but cant do that.

Glad to hear Marshmallow will support SD cards. The current Sd card situation is the worst thing about Android ( I dont want to root). Books from kindle, comics and games are other things missing from my Android devices.

yes it is rather silly that legitimate sources usually dont utilize an available sd card, spotify is a rare exception here (it detects and automatically caches to SD over internal - like all media apps should).

but you can torrent and download to your hearts content on the SD with no problems

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
It's not looking overly promising, thermal paste and heat pipes and it still overheated.............

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sony...als-dual-heat-pipes-and-thermal-paste_id73415

Most of you guys have probably been introduced by now to the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, the world's first smartphone with a 4K display. Although our quick hands-on time with the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium was enough to verify that the smartphone really comes with a breathtaking display, there are still many reasons why we think that the industry doesn't need a 4K smartphone just yet. One of these reasons is that current-generation chipsets already have a tough time dealing with QHD displays and that the extra stress on the chipset will lead to increased temperatures and sluggish performance due to thermal throttling.

Since the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, a mobile SoC that's been very often criticized for its thermal performance, many are probably wondering if Sony was able to keep the overheating issues in check without limiting the performance of the chipset too much. While that's still to be discovered when the final units get to our testing lab, a new photo leaked online today allegedly revealing the measures that Sony had to come up with in order to keep the Snapdragon 810 overheating issues under as much control as possible. Take a look:

Sony-Xperia-Z5-Premium-Dual-Heatpipes-Thermal-Paste.jpg

If this image turns out to be the real deal, then Sony did its best to ensure that the heat coming from the Snapdragon 810 is dissipated as efficiently as possible. Aside from integrating a pair of heat pipes, it looks like Sony has also applied some thermal paste right over the chipset. As the name suggests, thermal paste is a viscous substance that can be applied over the CPU to help with the heat dissipation. Thermal paste is a vital thermal control ingredient as far as desktop-class CPUs are concerned, but we've never seen it applied on smartphone SoCs until now.

Unfortunately, the real question - does the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium overheat to a greater extent compared to other high-end smartphones? - remains unanswered for now. It will be interesting to see just how efficient the dual heat pipes - thermal paste combo turns out to be, but that cannot be analyzed until the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is officially launched.

AND...................

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sony-Xperia-Z5-overheating-Snapdragon-810-still-an-issue_id73422

z5-heat.jpg

Call it the modern age blue screen of death. Despite numerous reports about Qualcomm fixing overheating issues in the second version of its Snapdragon 810 system chip, we still find some evidence that the issue persists on the Sony Xperia Z5 at IFA 2015.
One disclaimers is due first, though: the Sony Xperia Z5 units that we tested on the showroom floor are non-final prototypes and those issues might be resolved in the final version of the handset.

With this in mind, we were still not very pleasantly surprised to see the 'overheating, shutting app down' message while checking out the camera interface on the Xperia Z5. And no, we were not even recording the demanding 4K video that is known to cause phones to get hot - it was just looking through the various camera options available, right after checking out the overall interface. Put simply, the camera app shut down with no apparent reason, and that's what's bothersome.

We should also note that the phone itself is getting pretty warm, while maybe not as scorching hot as some earlier Xperias. Still, this is a troubling issue that we hope Sony and Qualcomm will find a way to resolve in the final units of the Xperia Z5.
