☆NEW☆ SurfacePad for the iPhone - TWELVESOUTH

Hello all,

I received my SurfacePad today, the Pop Red color way. I ordered it last Thursday, so it took just under one week to be delivered from SC to CA (FedEx Ground, $0.00)

The unit itself is superb. From the packaging to the actual product, TwelveSouth gave me déjà vu of unboxing an Apple product. There were two "Thank You's" I read while unpacking, customer appreciation is key. Many details of the product was discovered as well while unboxing, which was nice as I didn't know too much about it. (Just the write up and PR photos)

It's THIN! And barely noticeable to the touch. It does add some weight on the back of the phone though, as there are two seperate leather pieces sewn together. (The stand, which also works like a charm) The leather is top quality and like stated before, pleasent to smell, touch, and hold. It is stiff (yes, that is just what she said), so the flap is not staying down or bending back easily. I expect this issue to disappear within days of use... As expected with any high grade leather. The quality itself is stellar. The stitching is precise and perfectly assembled. The edges aren't frayed as there is an adhesive that sorta wraps itself around the edges. Speaking of adhesive, it's hold is quite strong on the device itself and I have no worries what so ever of it wearing or sliding around. The inside of the flap is an attractive suede with the word SurfacePad nicely stamped on the top left. It also acts as a cleaning mechanism (as expected) so that's a plus. I am quite pleased with the product as I am not a fan of cases or wraps.

All in all, this is a fantastic buy. Some may be on the fence due to the price and familiarity, but it's only a matter of time before this becomes the "SmartCover for iPhone" many have shown interest in. It's a top quality product, without cutting corners. The design is superb as mentioned above, it's almost as if iPhone was made for this case. Like I said I'm not a huge fan on cases as I like my iPhone naked, but this guy knocks it out of the park and makes it both a pleasure to use and an awesome appeal that not too many others possess. I can finally say I've found one I am thoroughly pleased with. So spread your wings and give this product a chance, You will not be disappointed.

Black iPhone with red case?

My Impressions (Black case)

So my initial impressions.

1. Works with glas.t
2. Suggest you size up the lineup before sticking to be sure the cover will close and stay closed
3. Leather is ok
4. I think they could have added a slight lip around the entire perimeter larger than the phone to add some additional protection.
5. Stand is ok, but does not stay in place due to the light nature of the phone (leather needs to loosen)
6. No cleaning swab
7. Not reusable if removed??
8. I am worried it wont stay closed in my pocket

Hey OafTobark,

Can you please post a picture of the front cover? I'm curious to see how it stays on (out of the box) without holding it together with iPhone 5. It should lay more flat after the leather settles down. Thanks!

I got the black one for my black 5, I love it. I generally hate cases but this one I think I'll hang on to.

Only caveat is the lack of a cut out for the speaker so I can use the phone while the flip is closed.

Taking pictures/video in landscape feels more secure due to the flap which is nice.

Overall I think its a winner.

Looking forward to it Larry. Please address how it sits on the front and also folded back. Those 2 reviews posted above don't really address much.

Now that I've seen more of the surfacepad, I would love the idea of something even thinner with no stand function on the rear. Something like the dodocase bookback with a thin, flat, and creased flap for the front. Purely for scratch protection and aesthetics.

Would like to see the White case on a Black iphone 5, Anyone got som pictures of that?
Except for the ones in the commercial

TIP: Lay your iPhone 5 face down when you're not using it... this will aid the SurfacePad's front cover leather to stretch and form flat to the iPhone 5 screen. Good luck!
