I know chances are slim but I'm still hoping for a 5.2 inch variant. This leaked phone looks massive and I sincerely hope this isn't the next Nexus.

I was kind of hesitant with the Nexus 5 too because of the size, but it was okay in the end. A 6 inch screen is just way too much for me.

If this indeed is the next Nexus, I'm gonna have to find an Android alternative. Currently on a 5S and the iOS restrictivness is starting to annoy me.

The Nexus devices (phones) always had screen sizes that were usual at the release time. 5.2 seems pretty common these days, so I'm prettty sure this will be it. I just can't imagine google releasing a 5.9 inch abomination, or at least not without a smaller phone at the same time.

My prediction for october:

- ~5.2" phone based on the new Moto X
- 9" tablet made by HTC (seems already confirmed)
- more home automation stuff

I've never been more curious about an android release than this time... october will be great!

Nexus X (aka Nexus 6) rumor round-up: features, specs, price and release date
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Nexu...features-specs-price-and-release-date_id59911

Nexus X specs:
- 5.9-inch display with 1440 x 2560-pixel (Quad HD) resolution
- quad-core Snapdragon 805 system chip with CPU running at up to 2.7GHz
- 13-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization
- 2.1-megapixel front cam

Why the huge 5.9-inch display? Since the Nexus is a device aimed at developers, it’d give a boost to development for phablets, plus it’s a perfect vessel for the new, Quad HD resolution, with benefits that could only be noticed on such a large screen. Since this is a fairly extravagant screen size, as wild as it sounds, we don't exclude the possibility to see a second, ~5.2-inch Nexus as well.

Interestingly, just like the Nexus 5 was a doppelganger of the LG G2, the Nexus X is also said to be ‘inspired’ by another phone: the yet unreleased Moto S. The Moto S is rumored to have the same, 5.9-inch display, and we might see it right before the Nexus X.

So why have two devices? Basically, it seems like the same Nexus 5 story repeats itself all over again: some issues with Verizon Wireless and the Nexus program might result in the Moto S being a Verizon exclusive, while all other carriers get just a regular Nexus X. Not just that, the Nexus X also goes by its Motorola XT1100 codename.

Just like last year, we expect to see the new Nexus arrive right in time for Halloween, on Friday, October 31st (but hey, it’s not set in stone, so Google might surprise us!).

In the best Nexus traditions: much more affordable than other flagships
Last, but not least: the Nexus X will continue on the noble tradition of being priced very affordably. Leaks show that it will come in a starter, 32GB version going for €419 ($419), and a 64 gig model for €449 ($449).

I hear you. Give me 4.7 to 5 inch phone with a great screen and an all day (and then some) battery and I'm a happy man.

I somewhat understand what Google is doing. The Nexus X is not meant to be a big seller phone, but 6 inches is just too big for a phone upgrade for a number of American end users

Been following this thread for a while. Seems like the Nexus X is getting confirmed so my question is: would anyone still buy the Nexus 5 if they were looking for a 5 inch phone? Will the specs hold up against future Android OS (noting that 2gb RAM is being dropped in favour of 3gb). Is the battery as bad as advertised?

My partner doesn't get work phones, and she can't part ways with 1k for an iPhone. Thoughts?

Best "affordable" phone out today, would be the OnePlus One,. for $349. it has flagship specs, is a great phone, sort of on the large size with a 5.5" screen, but smaller than the iPhone 6 Plus.

IMO the Nexus 5 is outdated, that battery is low, and not good. I say at least wait for the Nexus 6 announcement, they may just surprise us and have a 5.2" model, not just the huge 5.9" Phablet.

I've been following that phone and it seems a bit hit or miss. There have been issues with performance solved by firmware updates, but there are also QC issues it seems. Also, tech support seems a bit spotty.

So maybe on raw specs it's the best, but I still wouldn't count out the Nexus 5.

At this point the HTC M8 should be in a reasonable price range, at least in comparison with what a new iPhone costs. I often hear people say that they still love that phone as much as when it was new. And you can convert it to a pure Android OS which means it'll take updates for a long time to come. Also the chassi is super well built and all metal, so it's a sturdy piece of kit.

I am very curious as to what Google has up it sleeves for this new Nexus phone ?

People need to keep in mind, that Google is NEVER trying to make an iPhone killer with the Nexus phone, or a Galaxy S5 killer either. That is not the goal for the Nexus phone, it is NOT supposed to be a flagship fighter, and match up against the hot selling smartphones. It is a developer phone #1, and may have odd specs, or strange size, etc...

Also keep in mind, the Nexus phone maybe sells 0.05% annually, compared to all other smartphones that come out each year. The iPhone 5S maybe sold what 75 million phones last year, and the Galaxy S5 like 40 million phones, and compare that to the Nexus 5 which maybe sold a hair over 1 million.

So a 5.9" Nexus Phablet would not surprise me, it would be new territory for Google, and with the popularity of the Note line, and now the iPhone 6 Phablet, maybe Google wants to jump into something new ? And Google may not even make that perfect sized 5.2" Nexus 6 phone at all, their thinking may be, hey check out our partners phones from HTC, or LG or Sony, they offer smaller Android handsets if so want.

They never plan to sell a lot of nexus phones, but 6" is just ridiculous. They do want people to try their new OS. If this is the only pure android option in 2014, I will keep using my n5 or get an oppo just to have better battery.

MAJOR NEWS !!!!!

This Is The Motorola Nexus 6: A 5.9" QHD Display, 3200mAh+ Battery, Dual Front-Facing Speakers, And More
http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-6-mock-up-531774/

With this new confirmation, we are at a 9/10 confidence level that Shamu - the Nexus 6 - will be the new Nexus phone at 5.9". We've seen a ton of evidence from multiple sources (and other outlets) to suggest this, while we've heard absolutely nothing credible about a smaller Nexus phone this year.

We can confirm that the edge of the device will have the same aluminum frame as the new Moto X, and the back will carry the same sort of camera module (a 13MP shooter with OIS) with the new dual-flash ring configuration. Inside, the Nexus 6 will have a 3200+ mAh battery, and a QHD display at an ample 496ppi. The front-facing camera, by the way, will be 2MP.

We can also confirm that the Nexus 6 will be compatible with Motorola's turbo charger for super-fast charging. For reference, Motorola currently claims that 15 minutes on the charger will give the new Moto X "8 hours" of usage.

Besides the form factor, we can see a bunch of new stuff just on the home screen. Revamped icons for the dialer, Play Store, Gmail, and Play apps all generally match what we've seen before, while there are new tweaked icons for Maps and Google, and a new folder on the home screen specifically for Drive's suite of editing apps. There's also a curious new icon next to the dialer, presumably for the "messaging" app, though the messaging icon does not show up on press images of the Nexus 5 (the Nexus 5 actually doesn't have the messaging app exposed), making this icon's appearance odd. It's possible the Messaging app will return, with Hangouts hanging... out as an option.

Additionally, the status icons for battery, Wifi, and cell signal are all solid (without breaks like the current icons), suggesting they've been refreshed for the new release (which we can confirm will be 5.0, in case there was still any doubt).

Ohh man, haven't been this excited for a phone in a while.

If this really is 5.9 inches, that's the perfect size for me. I just hope they keep the body in a manageable size (Note 3 size perhaps).

As excited as I am, I'm still a bit worried. Loved the Nexus 5 and hated it at the same time.

I couldn't stand the battery and cheap "QC" of the phone. 2300mah in a 5inch phone is unacceptable and I had to charge my phone 2-3X a day. The buttons were extremely loose, cheap vibrating motor, etc.

Please, please google. Put in a large battery and fix the QC issues.

That's all I ask of you. :(

Such a mistake if no 5.2" model too.

If Google were at all interested in mass selling these, yes, it is a mistake. They're clearly not as the Nexus line continues to be a line geared for developers.

I think the problem with Nexus speculation has to do with the fact the Nexus 6 is based on existing devices. Motorola isn't going to build some special phone with feature its models don't already have. In terms of functionality, I would expect vanilla android with a bigger screen, and 32 gb processor, and no features the Moto X 2G doesn't already have.

Yep definitely my next phone and the icing on the cake is that it looks like there's going to be a 64GB config too. A week a go, i was a button click away from ordering the 6+ now i'm very glad i waited. The only other thing i can hope for is landscape orientation system wide.

Found this on the AA comment section very interesting mockups of its possible size

The N5 is way too big in that picture, or are they trying to depict a new N5 with a 5.2" screen?
