This 6P shaping up to be a pretty sweet Nexus. Maybe the best Android phone of the year, right next to the Note 5.

3,450mAh battery on the 6P, and with Android 6.0 "Doze" feature that's supposed extend standby time, and then with some tweaked kernel and good ROM, this beast could get 7h Screen On time.

My rooted and ROM'd tweaked T-Mobile Note 5 is giving me 6h Screen On time, and it only has a 3,000mAh battery.

Size wise the Nexus 6P should be the overall same in hand feel as the iPhone 6S Plus, and Galaxy Note 5. So if your comfortable with those, this will be approx. same footprint.

Now, is the 6P worth giving up my Note 5 for ?

Does the 810 v2.1 solve the heat problems?
I hope the 6p starts at 399 for 16g

All 810 v2.1 are underclocked to help from overheating, so performance wise it's probably right there with last years 805.

The 6P will follow the Motorola Nexus 6 pricing, staring off at $649 = 32GB / $699 = 64GB / $749 = 128GB. It will have a massive 3,450mAh battery, all metal high quality build like the HTC One line, a gorgeous 1440p screen. It should be a really nice phone.

The budget spec'd Nexus 5X will be the affordable one, starting around $399. But has a tiny screen, and lower end specs, only 2GB memory, with a small 2700mAh battery, and older LCD screen tech. I have zero interest in this Nexus 5X

Question is, for around the same price, which is the better buy ? Note 5 or Nexus 6P ?

Note 5 w/o a question if the prices are the same. MST strip for Samsung Pay, 16 MP camera that cannot be beaten, glass/metal combo that looks sleek, has the same resolution display, properly placed fingerprint scanner, OLED display, etc.

I am actually considering the Nexus 5X since I am looking for a cheaper device than the $590 I paid for my Note 5 since I will use my android device from time to time, I prefer something with a fingerprint scanner and timely updates, so the 5X would serve its purpose. The 3GB of RAM would've helped too since Android is buggier and consumes more RAM. The Note 5 is nice and all, but it makes me want to reevaluate my position once the Google devices are unveiled.

I cannot wait for the comparison reviews between the Note 5 vs. Nexus 6P. These two are very similar and yet very different.

IMO the Note 5 and 6P will be the top two dogs of 2015 for best phones of the year.

Curious the battery life on the 6P ? Yes it has a nice huge battery, but the SD810 is known to be a battery hog, will be interesting.

We all know damn well the Note 5 will have a better screen and camera than the Nexus 6P. Google always drops the ball. I was certain the Nexus 6 screen would be better than the Note 4 last year and was sadly disappointed. From the looks of it, the Nexus 6P prices will be in the $600s, while the lower end Nexus competes with the OPT and Moto X PE. I am surprised people aren't complaining about the 810 when thats all they did with the OPT. Bias, perhaps...

Personally no one is touching the Note 5 and iPhone 6S Plus. Same story. Different year.

The Note 5 going for same price as the Nexus 6P is a no hrainer, the Note is a beast, with fantastic display, and one of, if not the best smartphone camera to date.

The SD810 is the worse thing about the 6P, they should have just gone with the 808, or waited to release the 6P in January with the SD820. The battery life will suffer due to the 810.

Just a shame then if you live in Europe you can't buy a Note 5 thanks to Samsung genius move!

The 6P looks great.

I think it will be the same price as the Motorola Nexus 6. That will annoy me.

I hope Google just decide to undercut everyone.

I'm feeling conflicted about this phone. I currently have an iPhone 6 Plus and I'm going to switch to android. This phone is very appealing to me, but all the negativity surrounding the 810 processor is making me question if this is the phone for me. Also, i was hoping for an AMOLED display - I know the resolution will be higher than my iPhone but will the display on this nexus phone have better viewing angles and color saturation then the Moto X Pure?

We won't know till it ships and is reviewed. It's entirely possible it could be the same panel bought in from display manufacturer / Foxconn supplier.

I knew the 6P was gonna be running an AMOLED display, heard that long time ago.

But, which AMOLED ? Something from last years Note 4 would be a dream :) I hope not the same crappy panel from the Motorola Nexus 6, that was the worst AMOLED I've seen in awhile.

Also curious on two things. Will it have a LED Notification light ? And DT2W ( double tap to wake ) ?

So apparently it's about 1mm taller than the 6s plus but a smidgen less wide, same depth but 14 grams lighter?

But the 6P has a larger screen than the 6S Plus, while bring the same overall footprint size.

Apple needs to really trim down the ugly large bezels on the iPhone. The phone is too large for the size screen.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I thought that the Nexus 5 had overall big bezels until you compare it the the Xperia Z5, going by the 5X measurements leaked from the FCC document, it is 0.9mm taller then the Z5 and it has a 5.2" screen also. So the bezels aren't any bigger.

Also nice to see some leaked facts about the 6P, only confirmed 5X info are its screen size, physical size and that it will come in a 16Gb version apparently. Everything has been based on rumours apart from the photo of its back.

The Nexus 6P phone has a HUGE battery :) But needs it due to the SD810 :( Which is very power hungry and a drainer. So don't expect off the charts best battery life phone of 2015, not with the 810, this will be another average battery life phone.

Look at the OnePlus Two, it has a 3300mAh battery and only a 1080p screen, but with the SD810 it gets mediocre battery life. Now imagine a 1440p display.

What, the slides? No, I just checked, it said (quote) 5.7" WQHD high-resolution screen.

http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...tal-body-gorilla-glass-4-and-3450mah-battery/

The original presentation slides have been uploaded to Google Docs, which include a few more details in the speaker notes. Specifically, they augment the existing specifications with more information on the RAM, camera, screen, and dimensions:

  • The screen will use an AMOLED panel (the same display type as the Nexus 6 and most high-end Samsung designs), not the more typical IPS-LCD
  • The phone uses 3GB of RAM.
  • The rear camera is 12.3 megapixels with an F-stop rating of 2.0. If that seems a bit low for a flagship, it's because the sensor design uses 1.55 μM pixels, which are designed to capture more light than a conventional sensor, much like HTC's former phone designs with "ultrapixel" cameras. The resolution of final images may be less than 12.3 megapixels. The 8 megapixel front-facing camera uses 1.4 μM pixels (the standard design).
  • The Nexus 6P's official dimensions are 159.4 x 77.8 x 7.3mm. That's about the same height as the Nexus 6, slightly less wide, and almost 3mm thinner.

Let's just pray it's better than the N6's in every regard. Colour accuracy, white balance, viewing angles and more importantly outdoor visibility which is where it really fell flat on its face.

Tomorrow will reveal all :)

I would love the G4 camera in the 5X, but I know it's doubtful.

They will gimp both the cameras, I fear.
