My first impression of the phone when shown off is that the fingerprint scanner is in an inconvenient place. I really feel having it at the front where the home button lives is better.

Even when he held the phone on stage he had to adjust his grip to an unnatural pose to be able to reach the sensor. But apart from that the phone looks quite nice, I like the metal design. I'm talking about the Nexus 6P.

Totally agree, I think the 6S Plus and Note 5 have the fingerprint scanner in the right place.

Big Nexus fan, but man I have to say Google just sucks at big event product launches compared to Apple.

Apple has their big iPhone event, and then like ten days later the brand new iPhone is already for sale and in stock at all major U.S and European carriers, you can also order it online on Apple's website, and get it delivered quickly.

But Googles announces their flagship Nexus 6P smartphone, is nowhere to be found in any U.S. Carrier store  And when you order it online, it's 4 to 5 weeks out  that's weeks, not days like an iPhone.

I always go for dark coloured Nexus phones & light iPhones because of their differing UIs. Went for the graphite this time as I think that suits the metal construction on the 6P.

I wonder if Best Buy will carry the Nexus 5X and 6P in their little Google areas, where they have the Nexus 9 and stuff.

I'd like to see it up close, and play with it first. That's the problem with this phone being an online purchase only. Nowhere to see it in public and test it out. That's crazy.

Agreed. Would love to see the 6p in person to feel the size too.

Agreed about the comparison to apple. To be fair though this is probably the least stressful ordering process Google has ever had. At least you don't have to wait for a specific moment in the middle of the work day to check their site only to miss the 10 phones they put up for sale for a 2 second window. Providing preorders with enough time for Google to build up stock if demand is better than expected is probably the best they can do.

I can't with some of these Youtube channels comparing the Nexus 6P vs. the iPhone 6S Plus. Idk why everyone think that the Nexus camera will top the iPhones. We all know and have known for years that stock android image processing has been trash. Idc what sensor you throw in the camera, I will be patiently waiting for camera samples.

To anyone worried about the size of the device, the Nexus 6p is almost exactly the same size as the iPhone 6s plus. It is about 1mm taller but every other dimension is like exactly the same. I just went to check out the iPhone 6s plus at my local apple store for exactly this reason. Maybe because I've been using the Moto X pure for several days now but phones the size of the iPhone 6s plus and Nexus 6p almost feel normal now (which is kind of sad).

I have to agree with that. I haven't seen a Nexus phone camera come close to my iPhone's camera.

This hands on video makes the 6p look really impressive. Really really impressive

Look at how fast the fingerprint unlocks the device. It's very subtle, around the :34 second mark.

6p is really growing on me...

I actually like the look of both devices. I just wish they weren't priced so disproportionately in Europe.

For example

$499 is €443

Even adding/factoring 23% Tax it brings the price to €544; a clear €105 cheaper than the €649 starting price.

So taxes alone can't be blamed here for the increased cost, but clearly greed plays a part.

Even though I said to myself that I wouldn't have a phone this big again I went and ordered a 32GB aluminium.

Hang on, I thought the 6P starts at £449 for the 32gb?

That's not so unreasonable. I think it works out at about $65 more than the price all-in in USA.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Well having read about them, I think they offer good value for mney. I also think they look a little bland in the see of premium and colourful handsets we have these days.
Without any bloatware they all run fast enough and I like some of the software touches that have been made too.
I'll reserve judgement on the cameras until real world tests are performed. But they have a lot of potential. It sure about the finger print scanner location. Feel its better on the side or the front.

United Kingdom
For UK people:

Nexus 5X at Carphone Warehouse UK is available with free delivery from 19th October.. £40 cheaper than Google Store!

16gb - £299.99
32gb - £349.99

Same prices as the US Google Store after inclusion of VAT (for a change!)

Very tempted but waiting for Nexus 6P prices!

Woah, Dxmo or whatever is ranking 6P camera second best only after the s6 edge.

Wow.

http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...-available-second-only-to-the-galaxy-s6-edge/

Honestly, the 6p is growing on me. The camera hump houses nfc and the radio bands. Makes it a little more forgivable. Sort of.

That's certainly good news to start...want to see more reviews though. And how does dxomark have a review of the 6P's camera before it puts out its evaluation of the new iPhones?

Yeah I was wondering where those were too. I'm sure they'll be up there.

Lack of ois still hurt the video score of the 6p. Unfortunately.

It seems like the 6p could be a great iPhone 6+ android alternative. I'll be waiting for reviews too. My interest is piqued now.
