Why would you look at your phone at a weird angle? I mean if you get a text, you'd rather pick it up to be able to read the text etc...

I have the 6s+ and I always pull it out of my pocket and then proceed to unlock with the fingerprint scanner on the thumb. If it's on my desk/table, I use any of my other fingers to unlock it and look at whatever I need to look at. With the scanner at the back (and no secondary scanner on the side) I'd have to pick my phone up and then "unlock it" (or am I imagining it incorrectly?)

Sorry. I didn't mean to say that I look at my phone at a weird angle. I'm just disputing your claim that the back placement is bad. It is not. For me, it's more convenient, because I can unlock my phone while in the motion of bringing it out of my pocket. It's a natural position to hold with your index finger resting on the middle of the back. Yes I know -- first world problems. But it's nice to be able to unlock it before I even look at my screen. I feel with the iPhone, doing that motion would cause one to hold it in an awkward position.

But it's cool. Everyone has their preferences. That's the good thing.

6s+ is the best phone out there atm... Not sure how anyone can dispute that.

Having owned both the 6S+ and the nexus 6p I can dispute it.

Each phone has pros and cons in my book. For example:

Siri is not as accurate as Google Now. But some things about Siri I like are when you text with Siri she will repeat your outgoing text, something Google Now does not do automatically. You have to ask it to read the text back to you (kind of annoying).

With Siri I also have to raise my voice pretty high for it to pick up "hey Siri."

Google Now on Tap works within any app, something 3D touch doesn't do, we have to wait for developers to add in the feature (kind of annoying).

The list goes on and on, but I don't find any phone on top of the other; you have to evaluate what you find more important.

The reality is, iPhones run on Apple Services and Android phones run with Google services. There are not many services from Apple that are superior to Google's offering, and while Google has apps for iOS, the integration is not baked into iOS the same way.

?? Opinions ??

Definitely disputable if someone has a differing opinion! If someone hates iOS, it doesn't matter how powerful the 6S/6S+ are, no one would ever use that power and to them the phone is a pointless brick. Thus, not the best phone for them. There are plenty of things Android does and marry that with quality phones like the Nexus 6P and you have a phone that could arguably be better than the 6s+

Besides, in Canada (and other areas in the world) there is a cost difference; its a difference of paying 700$ vs. over a thousand for a 6s+ with reasonable capacity and after tax. 400$ savings is nothing to scoff at for some.

Anyways, this thread isn't about the 6s+ , its about the 5x and 6p and its been helpful in forming my opinion of it. I am likely going to get one of the two in December (probably the 6p) and it would be nice to read through this thread without posts that berate either the iPhone or other devices

I've had the 6p around 20 hrs now, not sure what's draining the battery but when in use it seems to drop charge really quickly in comparison to the 6s plus. It only lost 2% in 7hrs overnight which I was pleased with but the rate of discharge when in use seems really excessive considering the battery size. Any pointers as to what I'm doing wrong?

What is your screen on time? Batteries need to cycle a few times when they are new. I moved from 4 hours SOT first 3 days to 5.5 hours SOT.

LOL ha. Didn't know you we're a comedian, that's pretty funny.

There's absolutely no way you could be even remotely serious in saying that.
I'm not sure what he means, but there is no real better option from a strictly software standpoint than pure Android if you use Gmail, IMHO. The implementation of mail accounts on iOS is just so far behind at this point.

Can you screenshot your battery usage?

I have John Smith address in my contacts. I ask Google now: navigate to John Smith. It could not do it. It will give me an Internet search to John Smith or it will search for an establishment that has John Smith in the title. Siri can do that very easily.

Lol, I had this issue with google as well from years ago. I have a contact Mario, and when I would use google now it would always do an internet search for super Mario bro. I never could get it to work with that one contact. I must say though, being back on an iPhone Siri is MUCH worse than I remember, simply horrible and unusable, I don't even bother anymore. Just a simple reminder turns into an all day fiasco, the voice recognition is horrendous.

I can second this. The one thing I think apple could take notes on is the voice recognition behavior of Google now. Not to say Google now is perfect but recognizing what we're saying is really far superior.

A few pages back, I noted the same thing. I'm still hanging onto the 6p for now but not exceeding more than 4 hours SOT whereas my 6s plus can easily hit 7-8 with basically the same use that I've been using on the 6p (wifi browsing, Twitter, some music, no gaming or video streaming even). Screen brightness is around 50% though I still prefer auto adjust like on my 6s+.

With voice recognition Google has a definitive edge. I can actually perform some simple searches in Finnish on my Nexus 5 and get the correct results. Trying anything Finnish with Siri is a recipe for disaster.

Heh, I was just about to ask those of you with experience on both devices what's the battery life like, and right after posting my previous message the answer is already there. Not bad at all :D

EDIT: On my loaner 6s+ I got quite impressive results today. We had a trip to another city 200km away with the family, so I had some hours of Bluetooth audio playback in the car, some navigation, a few phonecalls and lots of pictures and video, and the battery is still going strong with the same charge. Usage is 4h 39min and standby 13h 48min, and I'm still at 47% of battery.

Hope it helps. Standby time with doze is now nearly iPhone levels, but what matters to me is use time and once I'm off the charger there's no returning to a charger until day's end for me with work, and am external battery is not my solution.

I have the 6s plus as and find the battery life comparable to the 6p. The 6s plus is slightly better but no fastcharge so about even in my book.

Yes, it definitely helps. I might be getting myself a 6s+ of my own since I want a battery that doesn't die on me constantly if I use the phone a lot during the day (I think I'm suffering from a battery trauma caused by the iPhone 6 I used before giving it to my wife). Doze does a good work with standby (it did wonders to my Nexus 5), but I would like a good battery life also when actually using my phone.

That's fair enough. My issue is that I don't have access to charge mine before I leave work and don't really want to go the portable charging route (I don't really think I should have to with this size battery). Still only my first full day so I'll give it a few more before I return or keep

I'd be happy to root it as I've heard of some good sot once rooted. I'm just not sure even with root how theyre achieving the times

Well for me battery life that requires root is battery life that doesn't exist as a rooted phone won't be getting anywhere near our company Exchange, so the phone wouldn't be a useful tool anymore. It's sad if even after all these years they can't achieve good SOT on stock.
