Time to move on folks. Apple is done with the professional market.

I've been one of the people vehemently denying this and arguing against it, but it seems as though it's true. They lack of an upgrade shows that they are planning to phase out. A price drop, no USB 3, no Thunderbolt, no upgraded GPU. All they've done is dropped the slowest mode, changed the product pages slightly and lowered the prices.

This basically a big xxxx you to Mac Pro buyers and a clear sign of the direction they are taking now.

my god... complete garbage. Worst update for a company that sells computers. Looks like they really are killing off the Mac Pro...

I can't believe there stillinst USB3 or TB on the Mac Pro.
I really wan't to buy a "baller" computer for my home setup. However Apple seems to be more interested in making us all use laptops or IOS devices.
Which may suit a lot of consumers just fine. However in professional environments we need "big iron" that wont fit into a laptop.
The exclusion of ethernet on the retina MBP is a shame. I would have loved buying those for the web dept at work, but no data port nixes that.

Totally agree, but there is an adaptor.

What annoys me is that if you want to run dual external screens (non apple) with a gig network, you can't, as you will need one of the TB ports, to run the ethernet adaptor :(

At some point tech has to move on, and Apple generally leads the way.

You're going to buy inferior laptops because of that one port? Buy a few Ethernet adapters, for crying out loud.

I refreshed the store a few seconds ago and it worked like it should, the Mac Pro had the "New"-label beside it. Though now the store is down again.

That's what I think.

This makes sense. It seems possible that they are clearing inventory before an update but at this stage that seems unlikely. They would at least offer a new graphics card if they were going to do a full update later.

Exactly this. If there were new models around the corner, they wouldn't bother with a slight price drop and bump.

Ill just leave this here....

Isn't this how Apple dealt with the xServe? Just let it sit with old specs for a really long time and then disappeared it?

well looks like its imac and thunderbolt array for me.....oh wait imac wasnt updated either....ughhhh. I got a $3000 apple giftcard ive been building and now I wish I could use it on new egg to build a hackintosh.

another update, if you go to mac pro not in the store and look at features it says mac pro 3.06ghz vs the old 8 core 2.93 so there is a small clock speed update

it's "updated"

official, eol for mac pro. I buy a 12 core and wait 10 years.

it's a minor bump on old hardware. This is exactly how xserve got killed off...

Hold your horses - some people reporting:
"The store briefly came back up for me. MacPro had a new next to it. iMac did not. When I went to click on the MacPro it brought me back to the back soon screen."
