I just successfully placed an order for a 3090 on Nvidia.com. Only issue is the card is 313mm and I'm nervous about cutting that part in the computer to make it fit.

Has anyone actually done this? Tips and tricks please! Cutting up a $12k computer is very scary.
I'm just curious to know if the Mac Pro can power this beast. If it works I will adopt this config. 2XRTX3090 blower edition.

For people putting in GPUs: have you guys experienced gpu sag? i noticed when putting in a titan rtx, the card moves a little in the slot? (perpendicular to the plane of the board)

For reference, here is the precise fitting of both founders editions, note that 3080 3rd party cards are larger than shoown here.

So which manufacturer's model would be best to harmonize with the thermal concept of the MP?
The Palit Gaming Pro?

I would say a blower design would be the best, right? So the Gigabyte one looks quite interesting to me, and looks like it would fit into the case without cutting anything.

I'm considering a 3080... so only the Founders Edition has a blower fan design?

got my RTX 3080 today
installed in the Mac Pro 7,1 very easy process, also installed latest nvidia driver

doing fast testing using 3dmark and play doom eternal well it is a 100% up performance vs W5700X

Do you have any thermal problems? Or noisy fans?

So far until now there is no problem whatsoever, even I overclocked the card and test using game(s) and benchmark apps. I set the fans to at least 50% that's keep my card cool and still quiet while using it

I switched from the msi card to the founders addition. Much cleaner look and a better fit in the Mac Pro

Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

How does the card perform? Any hiccups? Did it fit without any mods? Noise? Does increase the internal case temp significantly?

I'm I correct that you have your card in PCI-E slot 5 and Sonnet in slot 3? What's in slot 4?

Thanks again :)

Trivia
The RTX 3090 is longer than an Xbox Series X is tall.

I don't know. If I have to cut something away from Mac Pro to run Nvidia + Windows 10, I'd rather use Mac Pro as a sole Mac OS machine while building wholly a new PC for Nvidia.

It's great that you guys are working to put Nvidia in Mac Pro, but it being non AMD and probably never run in Mac OS, why try so hard to run through windows...

Of course, to some people, having one machine is must.. but I can't stop thinking all this try is creating more problem to meet that one requirement.
