Made the switch! Just placed an order for my first Mac.

24" iMac
2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600 GT w/256
250GB Serial ATA Drive

Estimated Ship: Monday, Oct. 2

downlaoding would have no impact on the mouse or UI, have you adjusted the speed of the mouse in system prefs?

well i just set it up and now posting on my new iMac.... i used the migration assistant to transfer all my files everything is going well.
how many GBs should their be after the drive is formatted. I only have about 390 left i thought i would be in the low 400's

edit i saw the drive only have 465 NOT 500

24 Inch iMac Arrived Today

Mine arrived today at my house today. The problem is that I am stuck in California on business and my home is in Cincinnati

Even worse: I am typing this on my work issued Dell laptop.

Mine was the same (got mine about a week or so ago) - it was kinda slow and quite sluggish for the first few days, then one day I turned it on and it was running perfectly; even the boot time halved from 40 seconds to 20. Just give yours a few days, and if no luck, give Apple a call.

Mine has arrived 3 days earlier than Apple predicted and 2 days earlier than I really expected. Nice. Shame I won't be home till tomorrow evening. My wife sure had fun unpacking and setting it all up.

I like the giant black keyboard by the small display, and the slim Mac keyboard by the massive display.

What's that about? Spotlight indexing? I know Spotlight indexing slows your Mac down at the very first, but days? Maybe if you have a LOT more files than I do?

Reference Manual

Has anyone found the link on Apple's website to the hardware reference manual for the new iMac C2Ds? Usually they are available 1-2 weeks after release, but I still can't find the link. I am particularly interested in the section on memory.

Finally got my 24"/2.33/7600/2GB/500GB. - Took 2 weeks and one day!
Everything seems great, including a pixel perfect screen. But I am still getting used to it - bright even at the lowest setting, and I'm not sure if there is a very slight flicker - but I guess that's just me, as I find it hard to believe that I get something perfect at the first shot!

got iMac?

Received my 20" iMac three days ago, was up and running in 15 minutes. I've cluttered it (in my usual fashion) with stuff like Cyberduck, Nvu, Firefox, Thunderbird, Gimp...had to try to replace all the Windows stuff I can't afford to buy replacements for yet . All in all I am pleased but am feeling lost at times. The last Mac I used was OS 7 or something some years ago...I am going out today to look for the "missing manual"...PS, I got the trial version of Parallels and it just locks this puppy up solid whenever I create (using the default wizard settings) a VM and try to launch it to install XP (remember those apps I can't afford to buy?)...Is Parallels having trouble on Core 2 Duo's?
