OS X Yosemite (10.10) Bug Thread

CoreThemeRenderer: request for unsupported color kCUIBackgroundDialog

Some applications flood the console with "CoreThemeRenderer: request for unsupported color kCUIBackgroundDialog" when active on-screen. When hidden the output stops.

Tried GooGle, but no luck.

Installed, had a look and have just initiated a time machine restore to mavericks. Didn't notice any bugs but the UI's just not for me I'm afraid.

So what, you're gonna stick to Mavericks for eternity?

An update for me. I first said that I was having no real problems, but then I used Excel 2011 for a solid 90 minutes yesterday creating several new spreadsheets and noticed my first bug/issues. When I have multiple spreadsheets open--usually more than 4--than I would start to get crashes. I never seemed to lose any data and it always reopened fine, but I had 4 app crashes. Also, when printing a spreadsheet and choosing "Save to PDF," it crashed once, as well--though it did create the PDF file before it crashed.

This could certainly be an Excel/Microsoft issue and not necessarily Yosemite but I am just putting my experience out there.

Otherwise, this has been a pretty stable--knock on wood--release, especially for a dp1. Mavericks caused me a lot more heartache last year on in its first couple dp/beta releases.

Not sure if this is iTunes or 10.10:

Can't change payment information in iTunes account
iTunes has occasionally downloaded only partial tracks when purchased. Very slow download speeds.

Most of Yosemite seems Ok for a DP1 to me. Nothing really broken but:

iMac 2013 (Tethered) & MBA 2013 (Wifi)

Bartender not compatible yet
Safari incredibly slow unless full screen. Maybe.
Screen sharing seems disabled for me.
A few third party apps struggling to find their feet, but mostly functional.

Time Capsule

Hey
After updating my systems to OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 my wireless network sent from my Time Capsule started malfunctioning.
Now I bought a cheap router and the internet is working fine again.

Does someone else have the same problem with their Time Capsules after updating their machines?

My Time Capsule can be found but I notice malfunctions as well. Let's hope it's solved this monday? When Beta 2 will probably come out.

When I open the Mac app store, the icon shows the opening animation for a few seconds and closes. No window ever appears on the screen. Upgraded from mavericks. Anyone else experiencing this?

Yep. After rebooting a couple of times it seems to have resolved of its own accord :/

If I go full screen (Dashboard, Parallels etc) after a couple of minutes it jumps back to the main screen.

Shutdown blocks because iTunes won't quit, have to do a force quit.

Going into Network Preferences >> Advanced >> TCP/IP the icons/text from the first screen can be seen. Tried to screen shot it but as soon as I select the area the graphics glitch clears.

networking issues

i have two time capsules to extend my network throughout the home. Both are configured on 2.4 ghz and 5ghz band. My Macbook is shown four times on the shared computers folder, I believe OS x yosemite does know its the same computer that has connected through the four different options.

When I try to QuickLook (pressing space) any pictures from Finder it keeps randomly zooming in on a preview.... wtf? It only does it to certain images too. Haven't figured out why it does this.

Battery problem

Before upgrading to OS 10.10 the battery power remaining indicator showed 12 hours remaining while I left the computer at the home screen with no apps running..after upgrading to 10.10 I see the same battery power remaining indicator on the same full charge showing 6 hours remaining..the machine being tested here is a 11' MID 2013 MBA 1.7ghz i7 8GB..Hopefully this is just an algorithim issue ! any one else with this issue?

itunes airplay missing

Installed 10.10 on macbook air 11" late 2010 - all is well but airplay doesn't show up with my yamaha RX-v675. Used to see it in system prefs/sound/outputs - but nothing there now.

Not sure if this is a yamaha update or an airplay issue - but airplay functionality is fine from other mac iTunes to RX-v675.

Anyone else noticing any airplay issues?

I don't use airplay really, but if Apple treats their new OS X beta program like the iOS betas, the next beta (public release) should be available to the qualifying public either Monday (16th) or Tuesday (17th). Then I guess from there, Apple would release a new beta build or software updates every two weeks. That's what happens with the iOS betas at least...

Mail Problems

Email from my service provider does not work. The same account and password work fine on IOS 8 on my phone and IPad. I tried deleting and recreating the account both with Imap and Pop. Before deleting the accounts I was getting authentication errors. Now I'm getting:

The server returned the error: The POP server “pop.bellaliant.net” doesn’t support Authenticated POP (APOP) authentication. Verify your account settings and try again.

I however have the account set to do password authentication. Sparrow email reader works perfect, just bought it.

Otherwise everything works fairly well. Safari was unusable at first but all I had to do was remove the GLIMS add-on for Safari.

Did I mention how terrible Helvetica Neue is on non-retina displays?

By far more usable than the iOS8 beta for sure.

Turning off LCD font smoothing helps for the system font on non-retina displays. Atleast it did for me on my Macbook Air 13" (Late 2013) Planning to get a retina Macbook Pro anyways.
