For everybody posting stuff here, please also give feedback via the Yosemite app for it. Then Apple can fix all the bugs and Yosemite will be perfect!

I'm fairly confident that everyone is doing just that. It would be a shame if they weren't.

Longtime reader, first time poster. Normally I just peruse these threads and find my solution, but alas, is time it's not here. Running the public beta on an early 2008 Mac Pro. Other than he obvious graphics glitches, my main problem is my wifi no longer works. It looks like it's trying to connect to something but it does not. I've done SMC and PRAM resets, deleted prefs, turned Bluetooth off, repaired permissions and even turned off and on other network settings. No dice. Anyone have any advice? I'd like to have my Mac back online! Posting from my iPad btw...

I am experiencing the exact same thing on a mid-2007 iMac. Fortunately, I installed Yosemite on a different partition, so I know it's a Yosemite issue instead of a hardware issue. Something that *may* have caused the issue is that I used the migration assistant to move my data over from my old partition to my new partition. Have you done something similar?

Late 2013 MBPr running fresh install of Yosemite.

Every time I change my wallpaper the changes take but if I shutdown or reboot, it reverts back to the default Yosemite wallpaper. I have a 32GB Nifty drive that contains the wallpapers so I am wondering if OS X is not reading it in time by the time I log in? The funny thing is I can see the wallpaper I changed it to on the log in screen but once I am logged back in, it's back to the default.

Already submitted this via Feedback Assistant.

I found a new bug, safari, safari loads sometimes the pages not completely! :D

Have the same issue as well as my tabs disappearing, other than that, I like the performance. Using Chrome in the meantime with zero issues.

Have you tried setting an alternate desktop in which the image file is on the same drive as the Yosemite boot disk? Might be worth a try to see if there is an inherent problem with the desktop picture staying through a reboot, or the file being on external media is the problem.

Anyone else having issues with Safari that keeps freezing up with the Public beta version? This is insane, sadly writing this message with Firefox.

I dropped a few wallpapers into my Pictures folder and applied the wallpaper from that directory and all is well after a reboot, shutdown and logoff. It appears to be something with the Nifty drive that I did not have with Mavericks.

Going to update my Feedback Assistant case with this new info.

Thanks

I have wallpapers in my pictures folders on ssd of my macbook. My login wallpaper "occasionally" changes to yosemite default wallpaper. I have no idea why is that.

Sometimes it shows my current wallpaper in the login screen and other times it shows yosemite mountain wallpaper. I have filed a bug report. Lets see!!!

Problem with symlinks.

Problem with symlinks.

Any symlinks for Applications that I have created in 10.10 don't show the icon.

Background: as some of you may remember, in OS Tiger or Panther, Steve previewed the software in June at WWDC one year, and as part of the new "stacks" that was coming, was the ability to make App Stacks. They actually resided on the left of the "crosswalk". However, this feature never made it to the actual release, most likely because they didn't know how to fully implement it. If you have apps in stacks instead of just in the dock, when you launch a stacked app, how does it behave, you can't have it light up when it is in a stack, etc. So I believe they scrapped this.

A while back I decided to create an implementation of this. I put a folder in my docs folder, and created category folders inside that for Media, Utilites, Reference, Office, and other things I made up like Interchange, CFO, etc. Then I set a terminal command so that aliases did not show their arrows, so the icons wouldn't look different. Then I created aliases for almost all my apps, and placed them in these folders. When I was done I dragged each folder to the dock and set them to grid mode, stack view. The result was categorized app stacks. I could now removed almost everything else from the left side of the dock and just have the open apps there. Obviously I left Mail, Safari, iTunes.

Then at some point I discovered that OS X aliases of applications are unusually large. Some as big or bigger than the app size itself. It wasn't a ton of space, but an alias should be in bytes or kb, not MB. So I changed them all to symlinks.

However, now in Yosemite, all newly created symlinks made in terminal using ln -s, create a link, and point to and launch an app, but don't have an icon matching the linked file. Odd behavior. Hopefully just a bug. And one they'll fix soon.

Outlook v Mail

I used to use Mac Outlook, but after switching to Apple's Mail software, I have not looked back. I didn't realize how many quirks I was putting up with in Outlook...

Thanks for the response SuperMatt.

I rely on some critical Gmail Accounts and need to share Google Calendars. This all works well with Outlook, when Outlook works well ;)

I worry about Mail not playing nicely with Gmail Accounts. It took Apple eight months and three updates to address "most" of the issues.

I thought I had a fix for Outlook on Yosemite but the original issue (no Home Screen) came back on re-boot so, I may be off to Mail sooner rather than later.

Thanks again for taking the time to offer your thoughts.

Same thing here

I have an early 2008 MacBook Pro with Mavericks 10.9.4, and I'm running Yosemite Public Beta on an external FW drive.

In Yosemite, Airport looks and looks and looks for a network, but never finds one.

When I boot back into Mavericks, I can see networks and connect fine.

I *would * have reported via Feedback Assistant, but that only runs under 10.10, needs an internet connection, so how do I report?

Anyone know what to do?

For whatever reason, every time (for the last 15-20 min) I try to unlock my screen upon coming out of the screensaver, my Mac freezes and slows down to a grinding halt. It didn't happen when I freshly installed Yosemite but after working with it for the last 10 hours or so, this problem has become more apparent.

Anyone else have this specific issue?

Thanks!

Pages won't let me style

After i've styled one paragraph, subsequent attempts to change a paragraph style (of the first or any other paragraph) don't do anything, and "update style" is greyed out on the dropdown. Anyone else get this? (report submitted)

Yes, I have exactly the same problem. For some reason safari will froze my whole system from time to time.

Guess it's time to switch to chrome.

Safari has been working fine for me. I opened Firefox once just to see it worked and it did.

I've seen several people report this problem, and I thought there was a fix for it in this thread somewhere, but I can't seem to locate it yet.

Since you don't have access to a an Ethernet port, have you tried doing another fresh install to see if it will fix itself?

My screensaver has come on several times and I had no problem coming back out of it and performance remained fine.

Wired network DNS issues

My MacPro will connect to the network fine and connect to websites and servers by IP fine, but will not find servers or sites by DNS.
Other computers running windows and mac 10.9 work fine. Both macs running 10.10 have this issue.

Network is setup with static IP's and was working fine before the upgrade.

Wireless on both macs works fine and DNS works fine.

Tested with both local DNS server and Google DNS server.

I noticed when you right click on a file in Finder and select open with it takes a few second (between 2 and 7) for the list of apps to actually populate.

Late 2010 iMac 27" with 16Gb. Found that the system would not fully wake up after sleep. The screen lit up, the mouse cursor moved and the caps lock on the keyboard would light up. Other than that nothing worked. Had to do a hard restart.

Obviously I reported it to Apple. Later I noticed that when it happened I had been using the Activity Monitor. Found that if I made sure that Activity Monitor was not running when I was leaving the machine for a while that it would restart without any issues.
