Interesting, mine does this when Reduce Transparency is on, be it dark or regular mode. Just Dark Mode doesn't do this.

On another note, transparency is making my 2010 15" Macbook Pro slow to a crawl. Also, on an external monitor, activating Mission Control produces distortion. This reminds me of upgrading to Lion which broke my graphics card and I had to get my logic board replaced twice.

Just odd. I turned off the transparency - read here and a few other sites that this can help. It has...slightly. Also changed minimize window from "Genie" to Scale", turned off Dashboard in Mission Control, and unchecked "Use LCD Font smoothing When Available" Just any option that MIGHT help. I also read about the second monitor issues and distortion. I had the HDMI hooked up to my large TV and disconnected that when I did the initial install.

I was going to hook it up my old 2nd monitor again, after reading the problems and now reading your broken graphics card (that SUCKS, Im sorry) I'll hold off on that and I sure as hell wont connect it back to my TV.

After installing Yosemite my mac mini late 2012 freezes up when waking from sleep. I can move the cursor around but I can't click on anything or use any keyboard shortcuts!

I have a similar issue with my MBP retina 15" mid 2012. Whenever my MBP goes into deep sleep and I wake it up (e.g. open up my MacBook again) it shoes some weird gray screen which looks like a graphical bug. After like 2 seconds the usual login screen appears without any problems.

Another issue is that if I open an application after a deep sleep, which requires the Nvidia GPU and not the integrated one, the MBP freezes like you describe it. The cursor keeps moving, but I can't use any shortcuts or click on anything. Only way to get out of that is to press the power button and force a restart.
After the boot appears a warning, which says something like:
"A graphical bug has appeared, do you want to report that issue?"

That bug doesn't seem to appear after every deep sleep though, so I can't reproduce this error on purpose. Anybody else has this issue and is there a way to fix this? As I haven't seen many people complain about that, it seems to be a very specific error. I still sent the bug report to apple

does internet connection go off when switching users?

example, I was logged into my account and iTunes was downloading a software update. Then I logged into my wife account. After I went back to my account to see the status, it seemed that internet was disconnected and the software update stopped.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but I'm having two annoying issues on Yosemite. One is being addressed on a different thread (cursor lag when a BT peripheral is being used). The other is regarding the system volume.

Sometimes all I get when adjusting the volume using the keyboard is the icon like there was no soundcard present. Sometimes, I adjust the volume and nothing happens. But what I managed to reproduce every time is that, whenever I adjust the volume on the keyboard, it doesn't move the slider on the Menu Bar or Audio System Preferences. If I leave the slider at 100% on the Menu Bar/System Prefs and adjust the volume using the keyboard, the slider will stay at 100% even though the volume actually adjusted.

I reset the PRAM, SMC and reinstalled Yosemite. Nothing fixed it. Could you, please, try reproducing this and see if it happens to you as well?
I made a video so you could see what I meant in case it was a bit confusing. I'd thank anyone who could try this and let me know how it went. If this was like this already on previous OS X versions let me know and call me an idiot.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I absolutely can not reproduce this kind of bug. Audio is synced just fine.

Note: I did a clean install of Yosemite, so maybe it is different on a normal upgrade.

Thank you for trying! I was trying to avoid a clean install but I guess that is what I'm doing :(

Hi,

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite I'm having issues sometimes downloading files from browsers. I usually use Safari and I noticed that when clicking on file and selecting Download Linked File or Download Linked File As, Safari freezes and requires force quit. I had the same experience with Chrome. I'm specifically trying to download from Blackboard, if that makes any difference. The only way to fix this is to reboot. Also, perhaps this bug is related to Finder because today, Restart would not work. I had to manually force restart.

Anyone else having this?

Solved one bug here. If it's not a bug, fine, but it happened in concert with beta6 and final.

I have one address with my ISP (comcast Business) and 2 Gmail addresses.
Mail would hang for 30 seconds before quitting/shutdown/restart. I took the comcast address offline and all is well. I don't really use it, so no big deal.

Sent mail was stuck in the outbox, but that seems to be OK after taking the comcast address off line. Incoming mail worked. Settings did not change (checked a clone of Mavs)

It has been optional for years, many years...

It was already optional in Snow Leopard, even in Tiger (OS X 10.4) : http://www.aaronwest.net/blog/index...he-Volume-UpDown-Sound-Effect-on-Snow-Leopard

well there you go lol. I guess I don't dig around the OS as deep as I should

----------

Oh the option to mute it has always been there... it was just ON by default. I remember deactivating it as far back as 10.4.

thanks

Thanks, viizi. Just done a clean install and the bug is gone. Now let's reinstall everything again.

Finder launching when clicking other app icon

Post title sorta speaks for itself but I am seeing an intermittent issue, on my MacBook Pro, whereby I click on an icon for an active application instance and a finder window appear instead. This happens just after the OS wakes from a sleep.

----------

Another issue I'm seeing is that I have a Gmail account configured in "Internet accounts" with the Mail sync checked. The account config also appears in the accounts list in Mail preferences so it seems pretty random.

However, when I open the mail app all my Gmail accounts appear in the mailbox list except that one, which is configured in exactly the same way as all the others. After deleting and reconfiguring it it still doesn't appear in the mailbox list.

I fear this might be a quirk on my machine as I haven't read about it anywhere. Though best float it out there in case it is useful to anyone else...

I'm still seeing an issue of read messages popping back up as unread, only on the Macbook with Yosemite, and mostly just SMS messages. Even if the conversations are deleted, they periodically return as unread.

Run this command in Terminal to reindex Spotlight and that should fix it. Those numbers come from the Spotlight index and when corrupted make the graphic off.

Code:
sudo mdutil -E /

Not a true bug, but rather a very badly designed feature:

Screen Shot 2014-10-22 at 7.49.42 pm.png

9.70421E+07? Not quite the easiest to read number. Can't it just damn say 90,704,210? It would take up less space AND it would be easier to read.
