I made a video so you could see what I meant in case it was a bit confusing. I'd thank anyone who could try this and let me know how it went. If this was like this already on previous OS X versions let me know and call me an idiot.

http://youtu.be/N7Vvk0EU8lg

Thanks!

Did a clean install and the issue is gone. Thank you everyone who tested it and advised about a clean install.

Now if only the cursor delay bug was gone :(

Is anyone else having problems with Preview slowing down the whole system? Never happened with Mavericks.

Other major problem I'm having - can't connect to Airport Extreme as a server (I have a USB drive plugged into it). Again, worked fine before with Mavericks.

Finder: Language bug

Finder displays the original install language (which for me was Korean) for: Desktop, Download, Music, Movies, Photos. Even though I changed the primary language back to English, the sidebar reflects as Korean.

Screenshot Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9gqrwrtdmxu7ck6/Screen Shot 2014-10-23 at 1.49.21 PM.png?dl=0

The file open dialog box reflects everything in English and not Korean. Seems to be only Finder.

The only issue I'm having after a clean install is poor phone call continuity...but it seems like that feature is having lots of issues in general and wasn't really ready for prime time

1.Chess crashes if you try to navigate Achievements, following an auto log in.
2. If you select Show scroll bars 'Always', System Information navigated to via Utilities (and not through the Apple logo) renders the right hand bottom pane blank.
3. Finder does not render the grey and white horizontal lines, page design correctly in the HD/Library & HD/System/Library folders, plus others. And it is also a little clunky.
4. Some graphical glitches in Cover Flow when it displays Preferences Panes in System/Library and other folders too.
5. No transparency bug with the Volume/Brightness icons. (Apple are aware and have acknowledged my Bug Report).
6. Show Icon Preview is still flaky but slightly better than Mavericks.
7. Mail can reset your Junk Mail to off, even though you have switched it on.
8. Bluetooth is flaky.
9. App Store is still using Lucinda Grande font and not has not been updated to Helvetica Neue
10. FCPX preference pane flashes white when navigate through each setting preference. Kinda defeats the purpose of 'dark mode'.
11. If you hover over the location icon in the Task-bar it can crash Finder on occasion?
12. When using iCloud Drive, some apps do not select themselves (top left of the Finder Window), when it asks you what to do upon opening the app. i.e. New Document selection.
13. FaceTime graphics stutter if you open FaceTimes Preferences and move the mouse pointer over various sections of the preference pane. (Watch the shadowing it flickers).
14. iBooks is still using the old App Store design. And the Category Icons within the store page (i.e Top Authors... Charts...) are not sitting centre (reported this on DP3).
15. Garageband & Logic Pro have graphical glitches on the instrument skuemorphs.
16. Launchpad can sometime hold onto empty grey folders, with the only way to delete them, reset the Launchpad via Terminal.
17. Full screen glitches when using the 'amazing' green button. Small to big and then back and Finder rendering stutters.
18. GameCentre forgets your Photo when it feels like it.
19. Keychain graphics stutter when scrolling through System Certificates and others.
20. When you try to unhide iPhoto in the App Store, from your hidden purchases list, the app store flashes, and does not look to be doing anything, even though the item is unhidden and downloading.
21. The Holiday calendar (UK) is not showing within the app, even though it is ticked in Preferences.

Just a few things I have noticed spending the last three or four days with it, on a clean install. I think that covers it.

So guys, how to fix this bug?

I though it was just on the beta and preview, but it is still bugging me on the official Yosemite.

My customised dictionaries work just fine in Spotlight with all the versions up to Mavericks.

On Yosemite, four out of five dicts work flawlessly in Spotlight, but the main one (English-Vietnamese) doesn't. When this dictionary is selected as a default in Dictionary, Spotlight lookup keeps spinning for ages (see the image).

Image

I'm lured by Spotlight's new look and power, which drive me to upgrade to Yosemite. It has a new look. Oh yes! But is it powerful? Oh la la!

Does anyone help me with this? I often do my lookup using Spotlight.

In addition, (I did a fresh installation) in my Macbook Pro 2010, I notice that Yosemite is remarkably slower than Mavericks. The machine is warmer, and consequently the battery drains more quickly as well.

What did Apple do to make the latest version more shaking than the previous? It's ridiculous to get back to Mavericks, but such annoying matters are driving me mad to think ridiculously!!!

Slow Interent/LAN [RESOLVED]

Today I confirmed my findings:

Yosemite has a bug which slows down a browser/LAN.

After 10.10 install I noticed slower internet with Safari 8. Tested with Ookla and my 120Mb/s connections caps out at 65-70Mb/s download. Today I took out an old Macbook3,1 late 2007 with OSX 10.7.5 Lion and I get my full download speed of 120Mb/s down and 12Mb/s up. Also on a old Windows PC I get full download speed. What is going on here????

Could it be:
- Ookla had a outdated engine?
- Safari 8 has a bug? (although Chrome has the same issue!)
- Is there a faulty network driver in Yosemite (for a Mac mini 2009)?

Tested with:
Mac mini late 2009 upgrade 10.9.5 to 10.10 (so safari 8)
Same ethernet cable (CAT6 shielded cable)
Macbook late 2007 10.7.5 (safari 6.1.6)
Windows PC with Windows 7/Internet Explorer/Chrome

I filled a bug report with Apple Feedback, nothing heard.

UPDATE: it is an issue with Sophos AV and OSX 10.10. After switching off the Web Protection from Sophos I regained full downstream speed. This wasn't an issue with 10.9 and earlier.

Yosemite Scrolling/trackpad issue.

Since loading Yosemite I haven't been able to use the 2 finger scroll on my trackpad. My localMAC guy linked his computer on Lion to mine and the track pad works, anyone experienced this and has the solution? I'm using a year old 13 inch mac air.

Anyone else unable to change User name / Account name under Users & Groups? Just a blank area now? (blurred areas intentional btw :))

Had this on the Public Betas and now on a fresh, clean install.

EDIT: Scrap that, here's the fix for anyone interested :) http://www.dargadgetz.com/how-to-change-your-profile-username-in-os-x-yosemite/

There are Safari ghost processes - Web Content is NOT quitting gobbling up GIGABYTES - yes, GIGABYTES - of RAM. Just look at your Activity Monitor. It happens with some apps, too - they will not quite fully unless you force quit them.

I think I'll start waiting a year to install a new OS X. That way I'd be happy with it for sure. It's amazing how such a big release like this, with so much testing (including public betas) has so many annoying bugs.

I have completely declared that I will not go any further than Mavericks.
Glad I resisted the temptation.

Same here. And relaunching finder or restarting the machine doesn't solve it.

Incredibly slow an unresponsive UI after system has been running for a while. I've disabled transparency and that seemed to result in a very minor improvement. However, the system is still near unusable after it's been up for a while. The only consistent way I've found to resolve the issue is to reboot the machine (which I don't want to do so frequently !). This is on a Mid 2012 15" rMBP; 2.6GHz core i7 and 16GB of RAM. I never experienced this type of slow, unresponsive and unusable UI in Mavericks. I really hope Apple is able to fix this.

Along with the little annoyances, I had a larger bug crop up last night.

After opening a work Excel sheet and editing, I went into Save As to give it a different version name. The save as dialog box was flickering wildly and would not allow me to put the cursor into the document name to change it. I tried going back out and in 5-6 times. Finally, after many attempts, I was able to change 1 letter, which at least made it distinct from the other file, but could not change the folder it was saving to or anything else. I clicked save and then Excel locked up and I had to force quit. It is sort of a mess!

Volume graphic chamfer

Anyone notice the volume graphic? The chamfer around the corners needs some work.

Yes, a lot of users have noticed that but I guess it's random or only happens on a specific set of Macs. I have a rMBP and it does not happen.

This happenned to me today. I was doing some heavy searching on pdf files and after while the whole system was completely unsuable. Quit all apps didn't help at all. The only solution is restart or shutdown. This is happening every time that I start working on this pdf. And it is a light file (3mb), without images and such.
