Also on Mavericks you could be listening to music or watching a video and a FaceTime call comes in or Skype call and the music or video would automatically mute so you could answer the calls but not anymore you have to flip to the window and mute or pause manually.

I have been using a Mac now for just 4 years but this is the worst OSX I have experienced, all the other releases and upgrades have been great.

Very disappointed Apple you should slow down and go back to quality assurance and stop rushing everything.

make sure you report that to them, that would be a valuable bug fix i would think. Ive never used the feature, but not having it would be annoying.

I had crazy bad delay/slowness with the magic mouse and my mid 2012 MacBook Pro, i use Magic Prefs to speed it up a bit. Works great for me, and I'm also running 10.10 :)

Thanks for the solution but it's completely random. It happens for 4/5 seconds and then stops so speeding up the cursor wouldn't make a difference as I would only have a faster cursor most of the time and probably still have delay randomly during that 5 seconds or so.

I have just found a bug in Audio Midi

I am using a relatively old (2011) macbook pro and just updated yosemite. It then took me about a week to figure out why audacity was not recording my tapes.

After a lot of hair pulling I unmuted master volume in audio midi and miraclously everything sprung into life again. However the master volume didn't look muted (no check box marked) in the first place...

And don't get me on about libre office crashing frequently LOL

New (?) bugs

- Has anyone else noticed that if you create a folder in the launchpad it automatically lose all the apps inside it when you reboot?
The folder is still there actually, just... empty.

- The new calls/texts feature is pretty slow for me and still not very efficient.
If I receive a text on my iPhone it usually takes 1-2 minutes before i can see it/reply on my MBP. Especially the first text.
Same things for calls, no problem for the ones I make, the problem is receiving calls.

I keep the bluetooth off, is this the problem?

Multiple accts is not the problem

I do not think that installing with single user accounts will solve the problems. Having multiple accounts is actually a pretty basic feature for OS X.

I had some of the wifi issues before but they stopped. I have not had preference issues. But I do have multiple accts on my machine and no such issues.

Also, I love your username. That's from SNL celebrity Jeopardy, right?

I think my next plan will be to wipe both and reinstall with only a single user account. Lame.

Any thoughts from anybody?? Hurray for early adopting!!

tl;dr: i have network issues and preferences issues. similar issues on a clean install to a mac pro w/o wifi as to an MBA with wifi. multiple user accounts as the culprit is my working hypothesis. any thoughts appreciated.

Is anyone else having problems with Preview slowing down the whole system? Never happened with Mavericks.

Other major problem I'm having - can't connect to Airport Extreme as a server (I have a USB drive plugged into it). Again, worked fine before with Mavericks.

Mee too. I've huge problems trying to scroll down a NORMAL PDF.

Not sure if this is related to you, but i'm experiencing issues connecting to my old (mavericks) iMac... Haven't tried a lot tho.

Yosemite and MS Word

I am strongly inclined to return to Mavericks for a sort of simple problem, but one that hasn't been solved.

Yosemite has slowed down the performance of Word for me, particularly in saving files, and that is a big problem for me. I use a lot of files that have "track changes" engaged and I have noticed that other users have been having problems with these sorts of files. The problems others have had have been more serious, whereas for me it's just that it has made saving files take 2-3 seconds. Which isn't really a long time, unless you are continually saving files (I do as a matter of habit because I write and edit a lot of different documents continually, and frequently while working on a single document).

At first I didn't thought the appearance of Yosemite was too dark and that the menu bar was hard to see, but I managed to fix that using the Accessibility preference. I actually like the look of the system generally and I really like the new appearance of Spotlight.

Handoff hasn't worked for me because my phone and MbA won't connect through Bluetooth. That is really annoying. So I haven't tried making calls through the MbA ...

I did have the Wifi issue that others mentioned about being knocked off a router continually, but that went away.

I have updated MS Word, hoping that would solve the problem, but in vain.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, Norm MacDonald in a big funny hat : )

So I went the lazy route and just deleted one user account on the MBA and the situation has gone away. The account I removed also had parental controls turned on, so maybe it's just that small aspect. But you can't have parental controls w/o multiple accounts, so there is a corollary perhaps. I guess I'll just do the same on the Pro until/if Apple decides to address it.

I've been playing with it on an external drive on and off since last week, but for the 4th time (5th year) in a row I've gone back to 10.6, i'm glad I didn't install it on my main drive. These are the main bugs I noticed while using it...

- The right 1cm edge of my magic trackpad seems to ignore fast single finger movements, it's as if its waiting to see if i'm doing the notification area swipe gesture - even when that option is not ticked. very annoying.

- Trackpad gestures seem to randomly stop working, you have to go to trackpad settings and change any option and it starts working again.

- I can't seem to update Aperture, I have a boxed retail version, so can't use the app store to download it.

- In safari, bookmarks in the bookmarks menu appear faint until you hover over them, then they look fine until the next time you use the menu.

- No page title in safari unless you have tab bar visible at all times.

- In iTunes if you block access to the store using parental controls you can still get to it via the "go to the store" button in the videos or tv shows sections when you have no movies etc.

Other annoyances - probably intentional...

No option for key repeat in keyboard options, you always get the foreign letter popup when you hold a key down.

And it is too bright, i can understand what everyone means about the new styling, which for the most part is OK, but it's just so washed out and button are hard to understand.

Preview .pdf annoying slowness and instability

I am experiencing a very annoying issue, with large pdf files the preview app is almost unusable. Zooming and scrolling is terrible slow and the app becomes unstable. Preview in Mavericks handles the same files on the same hardware without issues.

MacBook Pro Retina 13 Late 2013
8GB RAM 2.5GHz i5
150GB free on 256GB SSD

PS: other apps based on the Mac pdf kit like Pdf Pro and the Graphpad Prism viewer behave the same.

Strange!
2 Finger Swipe left / right in Safari triggers the back and forth + animation.
4 Finger Swipe left / right in Safari and Finder are the same as clicking on "back" and "forth"-button. (so no animation)

I want to use 4 Finger swipe for switchting tabs via BetterTouchTool, which works. But it also goes back and forth :/ - Any ideas where to switch that behavior off?

Thx!

Anyone else seeing that with multiple displays, switching window focus to a window on another display causes icons in the menu bar to repaint?

For some reason Yosemite doesn't appear to remember my notification preferences. I've turned iTunes notifications off, but whenever i reboot, they're automatically turned back on.

Common problem, lots of us, unfortunately, are having this issue, exactly as you are experiencing it, me included...

Text Wrangler

In Text Wrangler, when I select Open, then search for a filename, a file which I last modified in 2014 (most recently, in fact) is listed under the year 2000. See attachment.

UPDATE: This bug has been reported to Apple.

Spotlight Not Finding Apps

I'm new here, so sorry if I've not followed proper etiquette. Since Yosemite, my spotlight only pulls up dictionary definitions and bing results, but nothing else. No apps, documents or anything. In the preferences everything is selected as searchable... Help!

Fetch

I found another bug, involving Fetch. (I thought I posted this elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it.)

When you connect to a remote server and click on the "Put" icon, the window with the files to select from is too big; the "Cancel" and "Put" buttons are behind the Dock. (See attachment.)

This bug has been reported to Apple.

Try running this command in Terminal to reindex Spotlight. Give it some time to complete the reindex.

Code:
sudo mdutil -E /

The bugs that are affecting me are:

1. Finder crashing when I try and shut down my computer. It will not relaunch and the mac will not shut down. I have to hold the power button to force it to switch off.

2. Wifi failing to respond.

3. Safari being unresponsive.

This is on a late 2013 rMBP.

1 is by far the most annoying for me.
