I get it everytime I try to watch netflix on my iMac or Macbook Air...

Netflix' solution is to use another browser, probably a silverlight incompatibility.

Sorry to reply to my own post but I have a solution :D

I completely removed silverlight from my iMac (ALL TRACES) rebooted and launched safari and netflix, fully expecting to have to download and reinstall silverlight.

Netflix came up and ran the video without any issues and without asking for silverlight, hmmmm

YMMV

At least they don't admit to [reading this forum]. But they should at least read it, regardless.

Speaking as someone who just joined a month ago, if they haven't been doing it all along, there's no reason to start now. There's simply too much to wade through. This is a case where the longer you wait, the worse it is to catch up.

50 pages of bugs. I'm not putting Yosemite on my Mac Pro ever. The only thing that would change my mind is that 4K 60hz video might only be supported in Yosemite.

That's probably because Netflix changed the way of streaming videos. It is based on HTML5 now and Chrome38 and higher supports netflix+html5 out of the box without the need of silverlight. Obviously Safari does the same.

:) I would have been helpful had Netflix' support known that had happened. Their solution was to use firefox :roll eyes:

Thanks for the explanation... I had assumed that is what happened when I deleted silverlight and Netflix worked(one more MS item GONE from my computer, hahahahaha).

So is the wifi problem widespread? My Macbook is almost completely unusable now because of the internet. Wifi drops around twice a minute and then sometimes even when it's working ti will show the searching animation. I realllyyyyyy need this to get fixed.

Facetime bug???

Facetime seams not to work properly since i installed Yosemite (i have a imac late 2013 - 3.4GHZ) i can't really use face time... the program opens, i can click on people to call... then it rings on the other end but there is no option to answer the call... the little receiver icon is red... and the connection can't be made... my mice works fine, imessage works fine too (i even can record messages)
anyone has an idea what the problem could be?

thanks for your help

Not sure if it's been mentioned in the gazillion posts above, but I can't get rid of empty folders in Launcher. I've been moving my programs around and find myself with 2 empty folders that I can't delete.

Anyone else confirm this or know of a fix?

File Names or Directories - Finder/Spotlight

Also new and awkward to 10.10 Yosemite's Finder:

Previously, FINDER / SPOTLIGHT used to allow the
choice of search for NAME, as in Filename or Directory
name, (or TEXT). To accomplish the same in 10.10
you must key in the 5-letter parameter name:

Who'd have known? Certainly not intuitive and
requires more keystrokes to accomplish. And,
in fact, all it does is reorder the entire list of
results, where Filenames show up at the top of the list.
I.E., even with name: typed in, those files with this
name inside their texts will also appear in the list,
albeit AFTER the Names show up first.

Better than nothing, but I'd expect more elegance.
And, given the intuition this requires, who knows how
many other such parameters we're ignorant of.

Yahoo Bizmail pop3 resolution

After upgrading I lost my ability to send or receive emails on iMail. After changing passwords and many other things I finally found that the upgrade caused Yahoo to think I had a new device accessing my business email.

Solution was to go into my account through the Web, and add a password for a new device.

I'm so glad I didn't update to Yosemite. I can't believe Apple released it to the public like this.

I must have a different Yosemite, because I don't have to do this.

When I open up a Finder window, and start typing, my MacBook finds the files containing that word. It also opens up a window which allows me to search for files whose name contains that word, and in some cases (when I type .class), all files of that type (Java class files, in this case). (See attachment.)

Proginoskes, in fact Finder can search on Filenames;
I now notice that popup menu as you type that comes up with options.

How about your Spotlight search - seems it excludes the "Filenames"
option, no? Unless there's something counter-intuitive lurking.

It took me a few minutes to track "Spotlight" down. (It's something I'd never have used otherwise; if I'm looking for a file, I use Finder. If I'm looking for a website, I use Google with Safari or Firefox. Rather useless, from my perspective.)

I've attached a picture, where I typed in "Floyd", without the name: modification. It found ONLY files with "floyd" in the filename. It did not find files that contained the name "Floyd" -- otherwise, some other ones would have shown up.

Well I've just done a full reinstall...

Getting massive audio issues still. Hangs when switching between soundcards, even when I plug my headphones in or take them out, then I have to do the sudo killall coreaudiod to get it to work again.

Traktor will not load. Gets as far as the interface before freezing, reinstalled several different versions all with this issue. Oh and Rob Papen Predator freezes when opening certain presets.

Really fed up with this OS. Causing me so much hassle.

Edit: late 2012 MBP 13"

Ya, I agree. I've used Mac's since 2007. Praised them, and loved how they just worked. Since 10.10, not so much. IMO 10.10 is garbage. Nice looking, but crap in terms of use. Wifi still stinks, Safari swipes stop working after a bit and random when it happens. UI glitches, and just overall poor performance on a 2013 MBA w/8GB of RAM.

Maybe it'll get better by 10.10.9? lol

Just been on the phone with an apple technician to try and sort it. Did the full suite of resets, cleared my entire cache and tried everything, but no. Traktor STILL freezes on opening, unplugging or plugging my headphones in causes the driver to spazz out and it's still stupidly sluggish. Eugh.

Odd to learn of this. My Traktor works flawlessly on 10.10.1... No problems, glitches or freezes... I'm curious as to your setup and any conflicting apps that may be causing your problem.

Bluetooth though is doing my head in. My Magic mouse keeps losing, then reestablishing connection. Soooo annoying... Grrrrr!

Seriously considering a downgrade... In a word or three. Apple this is ********* ******!!!!!!
