i wish i had been into photography when the olympics came to vancouver back in 2010 as well. when i found out the cauldron was going to be lit every time we won a gold medal, i made sure to go out and photograph it.

here's another photo showing the cauldron with the downtown buildings in the background.

Another awesome shot! (Damn, I should be downtown like you)

I was here yesterday... North Shore...

Interesting technique. I don't believe you can do that in LR.

can't comment on that second part. I only tried it once and never opened LR again.

I thought you had converted an old DSLR to infrared! Very cool result of the inversion.

making it black & white first rendered the interesting monochromatic feel

I would love to try an infrared setup though

Looks more ROTJ!

I love LR. Best bit of PP software I have. I use it much more than the others.

Yeah this is still happening.....

G'day mate!
I'd send that one to Alexander.of Oz!

I reckon that should be the mandatory head-dress of our current Prime Minister, for official events of course.

"G'day mate, me name's Tony, I rulez dis place. Dya wanna buy some coal, uranium, maybe a globally protected forest or a chunk of a reef?"

Not my image, but it's the most trustworthy one of him I could find on the interweb

Beautiful sunny day today, which I spent blasting round the Dales on my Triumph. So much fun I forgot to stop and get the camera out, so here's one from last week in Brighton.
The gravelly floor is actually the pebble beach which has been washed onto the promenade by the storms. The bench should be over by the railings, and all the pebbles should be on the other side of the railings.

He looks reeeeally trustworthy ;)

What Triumph have you got mate? I used to have a Scrambler and then a Street Triple. Great bikes!

Tiger 800 (just the standard, not the XC).
Going for comfort rather than full-on maniac nowadays (showing my age there). The Tiger is all-day comfortable and surprisingly deft in the corners for such a lanky lump. And it's got torque everywhere.
I had the Daytona T595 when it first came out, which was essentially a Speed Triple with a sports fairing. Awesome machine until I somersaulted it in France.
I'm doing more long distance nowadays as my brother lives in Brighton, so comfort (and luggage capacity) is a big factor. I'd probably have been tempted by a Thruxton otherwise. Or maybe the Scrambler - that retro exhaust is beautiful!

Stick a camera on a tripod and point it at something, everyone that passes will have a good old rubber-neck at what you are aimed at. I was pleasantly surprised at how many folks stopped and didn't just walk in front of the camera! :)

The Tigers are great bikes. I've ridden both variants and really enjoyed them. I'm quite tall so I liked the XC model better but the standard model handled nicer. Surprisingly swift for such a big bike. The Scrambler was a beautiful looking (and sounding) bike but it was too top heavy and uncomfortable for my M1 commute and I fancied something with a big of oomph so went for the Street Triple. What a cracking bike that was, but my average speed was about 80mph everywhere and it liked to spend a lot of time on one wheel. I thought I'd best get something a bit more sedate for the sake of my licence/life. Bought a Moto Guzzi V7 Classic and ironically had an accident on it and broke a few bones :)

Sunday was indeed quite sunny.

Nice picture and beautiful model!

Great shot! :)
But please be careful when you approach them, they can get pretty aggressive. I was out in the woods hunting and a friend saw a baby moose alone and went near to kill it with his knife, but the godamn animal hit him hard. It was kinda funny! Good thing there weren't other adult mooses around!
Dangerous and unpredictable animal, this one!
