Here is another shot from my trip, hopefully the image will appear in this one :D

I seem to only see a small blue box, with a question mark in it!

You need to grab what’s called the BBCode to get the images to work on this forum.

The BBCode for the image you are trying to link to is:

PHP:
[url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/113328036@N05/11735482623/][img]http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5478/11735482623_4deefb381b_c.jpg[/img][/url]
[url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/113328036@N05/11735482623/]Items not for sale[/url] by [url=http://www.flickr.com/people/113328036@N05/]-DK74-[/url], on Flickr

Paste that where you currently have your tags for the image and it should work and cause an image to come out in a similar fashion to mine!

As always comments appreciated!

Thanks for the help, and your image captures my expression when my image finally worked!

Thanks for letting mw know guys, but I really am stumped with this as I can see it on my computer??

Anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Sorry to clog the thread with newbie ******

And I can see it on my iPad, without signing in???

So did you copy the URL from your Flickr photo stream and insert it using the thread tool bar above. Use the picture of the globe with the paper clip underneath. Then without typing anything else go to your photo stream (in another tab) and click on the photo you want to use. Click on large then right click (or command click) and choose option copy image address. Open up the macrumors tab and click on the picture icon (mountains and moon picture) and copy the address into the box.
That's all there is to it.

Be sure that your Flickr images are not marked as Private. They need to be Public to be seen by anyone other than the account owner.

Flickr has changed since I last updated the tutorial in the link at the first post (or in my sig), but it still works. And it has pictures, too!

EDIT: Apple Fanboy: Mountains and Moon icon...duh... I always saw that as an envelope. ..

Think I may have it now, although I posted the wrong picture lol!

I take it there is no way easy to add the flickr links underneath the picture like some posters have?

Read the tutorial. It will do it for you.

Method two by pdxflint and three by me are more work but more control. And more consistent.

No worries! Not meaning to insult your intelligence but I didn’t take any BTS shots as it really was so simple.

Image

This is a diagram of what happened. the only light that was effecting the image was a ring flash attached to the camera. I then set a 2 second timer on the camera so when you push the shutter you had two seconds to get into position. I did intend to have a shutter release that they could just hold but it didn’t arrive from Amazon in time.

I have a Canon 6D with Wifi so I used my Dad’s old iPad (new one for his birthday from me so I could get away with it!) and this meant I could wirelessly send the shots to the iPad for review so everyone could check out their shots after without hogging the camera.

Any other questions feel free to ask. Got some more fun ones to post over the next few days.

In my opinion the elements that added to the pictures turning how I wanted was:

  • The simple setup
  • Animated expressions (good close company means little embaressment)
  • PP, I went for a strong contrasty image that is on the verge of blowing out the skin tones which always works nicely for girls.
  • Crumpled backdrop. I used an old off cut that was 'textured' from people standing on it which offered a little more grunginess to the images.
  • A little bit of alcohol. Although not advised for anything professional, amongst friends it definitely lowers everyones guard and also I think my friends trust me enough to leave out the shots that aren't quite so flattering!

It worked out well. Speaking of ring lights, have you seen this video done with ring lighting? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MteSlpxCpo

Our New Year's fireworks were more on the cheesy side.
