It worked out well. Speaking of ring lights, have you seen this video done with ring lighting? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MteSlpxCpo

Our New Year's fireworks were more on the cheesy side.

Like the fireworks, nice to see the ground not something you often see with fireworks shots.

I have seen that video before. Unfortunately my ring light is a strobe and I can't fit a modelling light to it so I'll have to hold off shooting video with it.

Only a few more selects from my photo booth before I'm back to my usual pics!

As always, comments appreciated!

11 exposures merged in HDR Efex 2? Thats a lot of different images. Why would you need that many?

Good question:

1. Because I could
2. Facing directly into the sun needed very underexposed right through to very overexposed to so I could capture as much detail as possible.
3. I would have kicked myself if I hadn't taken enough when PP.
4. finally because I was teaching my daughter about bracketing on the camera so I was taking more than I might have normally.

Here's one from Edinburgh. I don't usually do much architecture photography but I came across so many interesting buildings in the UK; also, there have been some extremely inspiring architecture images on these forums the past little while. C&C welcome.

In amongst the sunflower bed in the back yard, I stumbled on this scene. A small spider of which I suspect is a Lynx Spider consuming a smaller spider. We are not to sure if that was the spouse or a different variety being eaten. The larger one is 3mm from head to tail.

Click through if you want to see it much larger again.

Took this in the early hours of the morning whilst apocalyptically drunk at a friend's party. I do not feel well at all today!!

You focus better when drunk than I do!

Lol. I'm surprised at how well my friend looked in that photo considering how wasted we were at that point. I'm old enough to know better really and shouldn't be drinking like a teenager any more.....my body would definitely concur with that today!

I haven't posted here in years.. :)

Portrait I took of a friend whilst attending a photoshoot in Southend on Sea.

Using my 550d and an old Tokina 28mm 2.8 film lens I got given for free!

Just an opinion from me but when trying to view your shot in the thread the top and bottom get cut off because it's so big.

When I post I try to at least make sure that a 13" screen can view. I work normally on a 15" and 24" but understand that there are a lot of tablets and laptops out there.

Once I was able to fit it on my screen I did enjoy the picture.

Here is another one from, you guessed it, my photo booth. A little added twist this time as I decided to add in a bit of light painting.

As always, comments appreciated!

Was in NYC this weekend. *Bitterly* cold (10ºF and there was a wind blowing). Walking from Penn station to our hotel we passed through Times Square. While I've taken many pics here in the past, decided to try something different this night. Exposed for the lights and set focus on infinity. The opposite of how I would normally shoot it with people in the foreground. Aperture at f/1.4. Had this idea of faceless masses being pummeled by the elements with the advertisements going on oblivious. Not sure how good the idea was, but decided to post it anyway :)

I visited the Atlanta History Center last week, and we took the Capitol Tour at the Swan House. The Swan House was used as President Snow's mansion in the movie "Catching Fire". This wasn't the same room as in the movie, but it is a close replication of President Snow's office from the movie. The desk is not the original movie prop. The President of Mexico asked for the original movie prop desk after the movie was filmed, so the one in this room is a replica.

Unfortunately I couldn't use a tripod, so I wasn't able to do an HDR to fix the blown out window. In fact, being able to take any pictures at all inside the Swan House was a rare event because they don't usually allow that during tours, so I'm happy to get any shot at all.

Sunset over the Aegean Sea. This ranks as the most beautiful place I have visited so far. Maybe it was just my timing, but there was never a dull moment, it's like nature and people collided in the most perfect way to create scenery that is awe inspiring, no matter if you look at the unspoiled landscapes or the built up villages.
