Thanks for the 'best wishes', folks. I don't plan on doing any great mileage, and I'm quite happy to spend the forseeable future exploring these islands (especially the Hebridean islands, plus Orkney and Shetland). Instead of rushing about, I want to explore places. People 'do' the Lake District in a weekend, but God only knows what impression they get. Maybe just a few photos and a souvenir tea towel!

Souvenir tea spoons are better! I think us 9-5ers a all a bit jealous! I hope your journey finds many a good pub!

Raindrops

Was raining yesterday, so didn't go back to the zoo. Instead decided to take some shots of the rain falling on my driveway.

'Spots' by Niall B.

Canon EOS 350D • 50mm • 1/250th at ISO 100 • f/5.6

The 500D turned up today (a day late) so I did get one last run-around with my 350D yesterday evening and I'm glad I did. It's been a great camera.

Feedback greatly appreciated.

Shipley Glen Tramway

Opened in 1895, this is the oldest working cable tramway in Great Britain (not including cliff lifts). Originally built to save Victorians from the quarter-mile uphill walk to Shipley Glen, it closed briefly in 1981 due to a right-of-way dispute. It reopened shortly after thanks to the council and the Bradford Trolleybus Association. It is now operated on weekends by volunteers.
I have fond memories of this, as it runs right next to my old school.

For the next few years, home really will be 'wherever I hang my hat'.

I’ve got two weeks to settle my affairs, and sort the paperwork, then I’m off. Whoopee!

I'm so envious! ;)

Seriously, I hope it's all you ever wanted and more, Doylem. Have fun following your heart and photographic eye!

When I was in High School I was a track photographer for a local drag strip. I've been getting back into that lately and this is one of my photos from a Stock and Super Stock race at Pacific Raceway here in Washington. It's not art, but it's fun.

Thanks for obliging us with your car shots as requested! A friend of mine shoots a lot of Motorsport. With a 75 mm lens I guess you are pretty close. He shoots with a 600 mm prime.
