A view to the Langdales...

Just got home from my San Diego trip. Going to be posting some pics from the zoo and possibly some others. For the zoo pics I was using a Nikon 80-400 which let me get in *really* close for many of the pics.

Image

I'm planning a day trip to the Wild Animal Park in the next week or two. Glad to see some pics from it, and glad to hear the 80-400 was perfect.
I'll be taking the 100-400. Keep the photos coming!

Your pics never disappoint. I now recognize the "style" of processing without even seeing the name of the poster.

Isn't it likely that all zoo animals are depressed? If they were human, we'd call them 'lifers' (I'm not a big fan of zoos )...

Agreed. Also, what a great capture here. The solitary figure adds to this already beautiful landscape.

Another great capture. Love the feel of this.

Going back through my archives, this is from an open plains zoo here in South Australia, with many breeding programs to help assure the survival of endangered species that suit our Mediterranean climate.

There is actually a herd of about twenty in the long grass here, you can just see some of the others ears.

This image surprised me, it's taken a couple of months after I got my first camera, the amazing Canon 1100D, using the kit 55-250mm lens and shot on manual, from inside a moving tour bus. I have no idea why I never edited it initially!?

I've never posted before. Just got a new kit and I am VERY amateur...but I learn through doing.

I live near the beach in NJ - so this is sort of a Summer kick-off shot.

Another one from last weekend. My wife's favourite animal. They rarely come down from the trees in their enclosure, so I was lucky to get this. Image20140516-_DSC2424 by apple fanboy1, on Flickr

Comments always welcome.

Cracking shot. Great browser too...

This screams "man I should have stuck with the wine!"

Hello guys, this is a photo I took a while ago but my girlfriends mum has just had the 'back room' in the house decorated, it's like a beach theme. So I did some editing to the photo for the purpose of getting it made into a canvas to put in the newly decorated room! I've never had any pictures made into a canvas so I'm unsure how it will look - just looking for device if you think the editing is appropriate for a canvas? Also if anyone in the UK has a recommendation for a good place for canvases -let me know please! The initial editing was done in Lightroom, then the main effect you see was done in Analogue Effects 2 from Nik!

EDIT! - This was useful posting this here! The white boarder around the image loots great against the dark background of Lightroom, but is totally lost on the white background of the forum! Might have to rethink this one as the walls in the room are white!

Not sure where you are in the UK, but we had some nice canvases done by this guy. http://shop.canvasframes.co.uk/
