Great photo, as are several others of yours here. My apologies if you have explained elsewhere but I have been puzzled by the lens used here - is the 18-55 not an ef-s lens? Have you modified it for full frame use?

No worries, can't see ever post in every months thread!

Yes it is modified, it works pretty well and some of my best photos have been taken on it, the light weight and super wide it offers are too good to pass up most days I shoot.

I rarely make prints of my photographs, but I'm thinking of having a print done of this; I'm rather fond of this photograph. "Red Man"

Side thought: Any suggestions as to what I should do when posting my photographs online, particularly this website? I see many of you have watermarks. I've never created such a beast before, but I'm leery about others printing my photographs without consent, possibly for distribution. Or am I simply a paranoid patty in that regard?

Personally I don't bother. Watermarks can be removed.

Nice lighting on this one.

A two frame combine, one up, one down.

I think stitching photos is about the only thing I would use photoshop for. Nice job.

In the age of political correctness and all of the controversy over the name of US pro football team the Washington Redskins be aware that the print's name might raise some controversy, Personally, I find no problem with the name of the proposed print. With respect to watermarks, there are two sides to the issue with most, IMO, favoring not placing watermarks on a print. In the age of Photoshop, watermarks have been easily removed. You'd be better served copyrighting the picture through the US Copyright Office at www.copyright.gov. I'm sure you could do a google search to see how this can be done. Oh, and I love the picture:)

I'll have to look into the copyright laws. While I color corrected and cropped the photo, the photograph is of a much larger Native oil painting. Not sure how that works when you photograph someone else's work and alter the image. But thanks for enjoying my photograph!

Ps- when processing for online, I set a photos DPI to 72. When printing, is it 300 or 360 that is the general rule of thumb to set the DPI to?

The copyright would seem to belong to the artist who painted the picture; you have just copied a portion of it. Ironic to be talking about watermarks when you have appropriated someone else's image without permission or attribution...

One of my favorite subjects in Providence is an old power plant. The 3 stacks make up a recognizable part of the skyline. I've shot it multiple times and have posted several of my results here in the past.

There is water in the foreground from my preferred shooting location. Since it's near the ocean, there is always some breeze and I've never been there when the water is still (not sure it is ever still). Wanted to try to capture reflections from the power plant in the foreground water. This prompted me to try a different approach to the subject when I shot it this morning.

Used an 8 stop ND filter stacked with a circular polarizer filter to allow for a longer exposure than I have used in the past: 30 sec, f/8, ISO 64 @ a 34mm focal length. The water isn't perfectly still, but the long exposure allowed for the mini-waves to kind of cancel each other out.

I don't know about the legalities of this but I have to side with Doylem. I'm wondering how you would feel Beastman if someone took a photo of your photo and then tried to claim ownership through copyright laws. I know I wouldn't be happy.

I have no problem with people grabbing a shot for a desktop image or some similar purpose but ownership is a different matter entirely.

I wonder how it works because the art museum allows photography. Hmm I wish I could remember what the plaque read next to the painting but I don't have the files any longer (I cleared my SD cards). When I go back during the Christmas holiday I'll be sure to find out.
