Memories.

My mom had an eccentric friend that attended my/our wedding, and took a roll of pictures that she gave to mom that day. She developed them, and for some reason they were taken over other pictures. She saw the pictures and tried to toss them out, but I flipped through them to see if any were worth saving. One picture was the newly minted wife and I, that was taken over a picture of what looked like a sunrise! It was actually beautiful, even though the backing image was slightly blurry. I thought it was pretty cool, and mom kept it. I was looking for it after she died and we were going through her house, and was kind of depressed I couldn't find it.

Yeah, *sometimes* the bad ones are the best. Yeah, the rest were tossed, but that one was pretty damn good...
Thanks for sharing your story.
When memories and feelings come in the picture, the "bad" picture is better than the most.
I have a similar story with not so happy ending😁
When me and my wife was newly married she took some pictures on our first apartment. I think the pictures was not so good so I deleted them...
She still remind me about this after 16 year, and I have apolized like 30 times😂
Do I have to say that I haven't done this fail again?😁

This is a Northern Flicker. As far as frequency of visits to my feeders, this species is one of the rarest. For a few days that fall this one came to feed on peanuts…and I haven’t seen one since. I do hear them, though, once in a long while.

This is perhaps the single bird that got the most enthusiastic “Wow, what a beautiful bird!” from me.

Sequel to yesterday where looking at a film negative strip, measuring the concentrate to set in temp controlled water bath, acclimating while load the film on the reel. NOTE: picked up different colored water bottles cheap at Dollar Tree, then labeled with a Sharpie, both ml for dilution ratio (1 reel 35mm and "2" reel 120) and ending solution lines. For dilution rate, precisely measure the ml of concentrate as shown in photo then fill with water to the solution line. Only have to measure the water once then mark the line for the future. The green bottle shown is Ilfosol 3 with 1:9 ratio with bottle marked 35ml + water to 35mm line, 58ml + water to 120 line.

I read an article years ago where the author was lamenting the fact that people with digital cameras are quick to delete extra photos whereas with a roll of film you print the ones you want, then save the entire roll. Years later you can go back find photos of people or places that are gone, that are an important record that would be gone if digital.

That might be true with some photographers that shoot digital. Those who take their photography seriously don't.

Most others, such as myself, effortlessly import their day's shooting of digital pix into Lightroom or some other digital catalog structure. Where it remains, with multiple backups in multiple physical locations, for many years. Just like rolls of film. Except much easier to access with EXIF and attached digital keyword notes - all easily searchable within a second or two.

I had a friend lose his entire life's film library during Hurricane Katrina. Something to think about.

I know that stretch of 550 reasonably well. Always great morning light especially in the fall.
This had been a trip I planned for over a year. I live in east central NM and drove to Durango and spent the night. Next morning, early, I headed to Silverton, then Ouray, Ridgeway, and Telluride. The only problem I had is, every time I drove another 1/2 mile, I saw a view I had to take a picture of. I was stopping a LOT! Also did a bit of hiking.

I'll post additional images from the trip in the coming days in this thread.

I’ve been recently posting photos from a driving trip I took with my daughter, age 12 at the time. On the portion through southern Utah, I could tell she was starting to roll her eyes at me for stopping every five minutes to take yet another photo. Sometimes it was something I had just photographed the last time, only this time this was an even better view (which made it purely a stop for me and not for her). Bless her heart, she took it with a lot of patience.

(This happened a LOT in Monument Valley, right @dwfaust? ;))
