Photo of the day September 2014

Imagine me sitting here clapping excitedly... so how are you finding the lens? I have bought a 40mm Nokton to play with... looking forward to it arriving..

I haven't really had much of a chance to play with it yet. That was a shot I took on my evening dog walk. It seems to render really nicely though and I'm loving the fact that I can zone focus without having to worry about critical focus so much. It's going to be really interesting for street work.

I actually ordered the 40mm a few months ago but Digital Rev didn't have it in stock and cancelled my order without explanation so I had a bit of a hissy fit and went for Fuji's excellent 35mm instead.

I find hissy fits a useful tool in the bartering process.

I like your work with the 35mm too and look forward to the examples of your zone focus.

F8 focus to 3 metres or something yeah?

This is one of those images in which I hoped the sky would be interesting enough to compensate for my lack of photographic talent. Whoops.

It was a very pleasant way to start each day. Sitting on a camp stool at the best vantage point on the edge of the marsh, camera and lens mounted on a tripod, extra large coffee in hand, watching the sun come up, occasional conversation if a fellow bird photographer showed up…very relaxing and my idea of a good time.

*sigh* My oh my do I envy you. In a year or two I may be able to go back doing just that. Good for you :)

Testing the straight out of camera colours of my 6D, using the 24-105mm lens, which is not one of Canon's better lenses, but is still perfectly good enough for me. This was a raw image which has had no treatments, apart from a touch of sharpening and cropping to square in Lightroom.

A Common Hover-fly in one of our wicking beds.

I think the 24-105 is a perfectly nice and great walk around lens and the quality of the pictures are really good, IMO. Of course, if you look at my signature you'r see why I think that. :D
