Great pic, really love the differential focus ...... cool

FJ

Thanks, FJ. Appreciate it.

I just noticed now though that my horizon may be off which annoys me. :( I based the shot composition off of the vertical straightness of the pier posts but the dock in the far background looks like it's slightly sloping to the left. It could just be an illusion, though, because of the formation of the rocks near the dock and the boats.

Would it have been better to make sure the pier post was vertically straight or to make sure the dock in the background seemed straight?

A friend of a friend

I'm totally new to photography, but i love to learn about the 'pro' industries; video, audio, and now photo. I do sound and video quite well. I was trying the 'Orton' effect. i think i did it right. The girl on the left is a good friend of mine. On the right is a friend of her's that i don't know. Sorry no camera info, it was her low end P&S. Please, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. Cool

I think the vertical post is more important and personally I would leave the photo as it is.

If it's annoying you, a little bit of Photoshop could fix it.

Hi I just open the image in Photoshop, the horizon is 1.33 Degrees out, I wouldn't bother fixing it. :)

Here's my Beginning of Spring shot taken today. Took it with my crappy Fuji while the ole 300D was on charge. Macro without a focus ring = hell.

You've outdone yourself again! I'm so jealous.

I saw some deer (11) behind my dorm the othe day and quickly tried to capture them but I wasn't able to get ver close to them. Shot with my K110D. Very cropped. Click for full size.

As usual, you always get the great shots! How do you do it? Are you using a fast multi shot mode to get it just right? How many do you have to take to get that one good shot? Or do you just have a fast set of reflexes? I always seem to hit the shutter just before or just after the critical second...

Probably f/5.6 - was trying to narrow the DOF a bit
quick shot - bright sun and snow, maybe 1/500 or something
