I think the earthy tones are amazing in this one and the blue of the jersey really contrasts it. Thats just my take (I took so I pretty much have to love it :p)

Tall Crane in the Clouds | 4/19/07

I was walking by a construction site on a cloudy day and saw this crane that was so tall it faded into the clouds. Of course I couldnt help but blend it in even more...

One part of a control room for the neutron spallation facility at Oak Ridge, Tn. Pretty cool place, especially if you know what it all means (thanks to physics, I do, somewhat :) )

That's amazing. So you didn't do any extra blurring in PS? Amazing selective focus my friend.

Thanks! No, no extra blurring. Just some sharpening, b&w conversion and cropping. These little birds hang out in the low bushes, so I was kneeling and peering through the branches and leaves. Most shots didn't turn out due to camera-shake blur, bird-movement blur, branches-in-the-way blur and out-of-focus blur.

What a superb treatment. I continue to be impressed with 1) your photos, and 2) the stuff coming out of the D40s!

Thanks a bunch!
The D40 is pretty good. And it's nice to have some telephoto.

I like the color and composition of your dock shot. Pretty sunsets are extremely rare here for some reason.

I'm awfully fond of small birds. (...and small children.)

Sidebar: You know what I want? A real birding lens. Like a 400 mm f/4. (VR or IS) I may go to Seoul and look for a used one.
