Those are very nice. I especially like the second one, you've managed to capture their emotions just right. I used to work with the homeless for about 2 years (at a shelter), so your pictures are pretty visceral to me. I'd love to see some more.

Here's one for today:

I think these creatures are now my new favorite sea creature. They are about 6 inches long.

two today

I am in Brunswick, MD today at my weekend home. In the backyard, I have a small flower bed I've been nursing along. I brought some grape hyacinths to transplant in last night.

This morning I went out to see how they were doing, and found that a bee had taken up a guardian position over the bed. She hovers a couple of feet over the bed and refuses to allow any other flying insect close. Bees, wasps, butterflies - they all get chased away. So I spent an hour trying to get her in my viewfinder, and finally had to give up with this being the best she would let me get of her.

The next one was taken around the same time, I noticed that a clutch (dozens!) of tiny spiders had hatched and were crawling around on my BBQ, trying to get to where the wind could catch their webs so they could fly off. I like the way the light cast huge shadows of each one.>

The shot of the spiders is sweet. Are they flying?

haha thanks. I just got my 400D Friday. Switched over from Nikon. Can't say I miss the D50 TOO much.

i love that shot.

about what time was it taken at?

Thanks for the compliment, I've been lurking and admiring everybody else's, thought I might contribute something for once!

I took that one about 6:20pm, which was a bit over half an hour after the sun actually went down. The days are starting to get shorter as winter approaches here down under.

Here's another photo from that same trip to Sydney

Exactly. It's really simple, really.

One photo per day, and put the date that you took the photo, along with the place. You can post your EXIF data if you want, but that was never a requirement.

Anyway, I don't take a lot of photos, so I don't post many. Here's one of the Sydney Opera House that I took last Sunday (April 15th, 2007), I believe.

Well, I totally agree with you. EXIF data is nice, but sometimes, all those numbers are just technical, and doesn't really contribute to the photo itself.

Sidebar: You know what I want? A real birding lens. Like a 400 mm f/4. (VR or IS) I may go to Seoul and look for a used one.

Well the photos you have taken so far are quite nice. I have always liked photos of birds, but have never been interested in taking any myself. Too bad, because in Australia, I always see birds that any bird-lover would love to see in real life.

That's very nice, especially the perspective. It's hard to get a shot of the Opera House from a slightly different angle because in most cases, you need to be on a boat to do so.

When I was there last weekend, I heard thunder and it started raining shortly afterwards, which is why I took the photo I did (weather doesn't matter if it looks abstract enough ;) ).
