Mm. I love it. What a fantastic example of abstraction. Love the simplicity of shapes and color. The only thing I wonder about is the "weightiness" of it. I feel like the bright light in the background competes too much w/ the red shape in the foreground.

But still... I enjoy this shot.

Nikon D40
Micro Nikkor 105mm D + Canon 250D closeup filter
flash, diffuser

I've had the closeup filter around for months but haven't used it much (bought for the Canon A640). Seems to be alright on the 105mm, but the depth of field is really, really thin, even stopped down... It'll take some practice to get used to it.

^^^ Sweet pic.

This is my first bird shot.
I only had a chance to take the picture once before the bird flew away, so, it's not as good as I would have liked it to have been.

Greenmac and epicwelshman.... really nice pics. Nice colors, and I'm going to assume Hindmarsh Island is HDR??

Another one from Kits a while ago; I'm not sure I'm completely happy with this one there is some vignetting, but I don't want to crop any more out of it.

JHT: thanks for asking those questions about macro photos, and posting your bee with the D40 kit lens -- you've finally forced me to admit my problem isn't that I don't have a macro lens, but that I'm still not good enough at getting sharp photos at that level of magnification. I'm practicing and getting better at it with what I have; it will definitely improve my abilities and I won't be disappointed when I do get a real macro lens.

^^ Great shot! Is that a rocket? ^^

Taken on the side of a river in Quechee VT. Thought the background looked cool, kinda like scales. Anyways let me know what you think.

Nikon D40
Micro Nikkor 105mm D + Canon 250D close up filter (reversed)

I had fun this afternoon in the sweltering heat. This was almost the last shot of the day. I came across a tip on the internet that most Micro Nikkors do better with close up lenses reversed--I must agree... :)
