Nikon D40
Micro Nikkor 105mm D + Canon 250D close up filter (reversed)

I had fun this afternoon in the sweltering heat. This was almost the last shot of the day. I came across a tip on the internet that most Micro Nikkors do better with close up lenses reversed--I must agree... :)

What is reversed? the lens or the filter?

I had a delightful Saturday walking in the forest on the mountain and through a couple of gardens in a misty rain, listening to British radio comedy on the iPod. Sweet.

Congrat.s! ALways nice to upgrade. :D Look forward to some "Panny" pic.s. :)

Thanks, epicwelshman! I saw your comment earlier today, but it seems to have vanished (again)...strange.

I like this shot. It reminds me of an time when I took some pictures of folks on a freeway overpass who were gathered to watch the funeral procession of a local policeman who was shot and killed in Portland in 1997. Here is one of them where a solitary woman observes the procession on the closed freeway below...

the filter lens :D

Sorry for seeming so dense, but I like the effect and would like to build the configuration you used. Did i understand you to say that the lens is mounted normally, the filter is mounted in reverse? Can you tell me what parts you used to do this?

Thanks.

By the way, you have some great bugs there.

The close up filter is reversed. Easy to do. The filter is 58mm and the lens has a 52mm filter thread, so I have a step down ring. I duct-taped the step down ring to the front of the filter, allowing it to be screwed on in a reversed position. Works fine to give more magnification or a greater work distance.
