It's quite good practise, I used to be a member of a car forum and like Xorro said there is the risk that someone could clone your plates but also (And this is more relevant for a car forum that here) if you post a picture of your car with the plate showing and then mention how you did 130mph down a country road the other day...

I guess it's paranoia but you can never be too safe :)

its pretty easy to get someone's home address from the plates. Fancy car implies fancy house with fancy things inside...maybe fancy alarm system...but maybe not.

what amuses me is that people are afraid someone on the internet might do this, but people see your plate thousands of times a day, and are much closer to you if they wished to rob you or rip you off or whatever else.

as far as doing 130, unless you evaded a cop who is currently looking for you you'll probably be okay. people on the interwebtubes say lots of things, if the police checked out every one they'd never get any work done.

No point in actively advertising it though is there?

I've been a Toyota fan for a few years now. I also have a 4 door Tacoma Truck but don't have any pictures.

you know....some people use their trucks for things like towing and hauling that you cant do with a car

why does it matter to you?

a truck is the most useful vehicle without a doubt in my mind

I'm just wondering because I noticed the other day that lots of the people that own large vehicles don't use them for their intended use.

And a lot probably do.

It's their choice at the end of the day, it's just like a lot of members on this forum have a Mac Pro and would probably have been better off with a Mac mini for the amount of computing they do, but they're still entitled to buy whatever they want.

So why exactly do you need a truck as large as that and gets 15MPG?
Actually, it's more like 12 mpg, haha. (City). But even before the lift and the heavy 35" tires it only got 13 mpg. You don't buy a truck for the mileage.

Thank you! Well said. Having grown up on a dairy farm in Idaho, I can attest to the truthfulness of that statement.

While I don't tow or haul stuff every day, it still comes in handy more than you would think. Last week I was able to help a friend haul a new bed he'd just bought. The week before that I helped some people from my church move some stuff. Recently my wife bought a desk (already assembled) and it was ridiculously easy to load it up in the back of the truck and take it home. This truck can also tow 9,000 pounds, so it comes in quite handy whenever we move and we can hook up a large trailer or at the very least tow my wife's car.

Besides it's use as a pickup, the thing is huge and it's the only vehicle I've owned that I truly fit comfortably in. (I'm 6'4" 290 lbs). In addition to that, this thing can MOVE. It's no 370z or BMW M3, but for a truck she's quick, and a blast to drive.

I agree with iJohnHenry, it looks so perfect. Like its brand new. It is very beautiful!!

Thank you! I do take very good care of it, less the occasional mud slingin'. :D It's a 2004 model, and most people think it's only a year or two old.

That is very true. You also need to take into consideration that many people, who can afford to use 2-3 times the gas of an economy car, choose to do so because these big vehicles are much safer than most tiny cars in a collision.
And a lot probably do.

That's exactly the analogy that I was going to use. I mean sure, I could get along without quite this much truck but like many of you have probably dreamed of owning some luxury car, I always wanted to own a big lifted truck, and I finally do. I've paid it off completely on my own, and I plan to drive it for years to come.
