oh. her name is Java, she's a small westie, 6 kilograms only. has been with us for 10 years now, still going strong. even survived the baby which is 3 now :D

and yes, it's a great breed to have - cute, but it's actually a work dog and pretty low maintenance. did my research prior to buying the pup.

Thanks for the reply and for the back story - it is always interesting to read about one of the animals that has been pictured in the thread.

Lovely photographs.

In this context, what does 'foster turned failure' mean exactly?

Lovely photographs.

In this context, what does 'foster turned failure' mean exactly?

Duncan was originally a foster dog that we cared for during his heartworm treatment. My wife and I do rescue work through a local beagle/basset organization, and Duncan was one of their rescues. We actually found him a home initially; he went to a new family for a few weeks but the situation didn't work out. We got him back to foster again and realized we loved the little guy too much to let him go a second time. Thus, the "foster failure" term... we failed at fostering him because we just adopted him ourselves. :)

If there's any truth in the saying "Eyes are the mirror of the soul", these two must be great friends to have around.

My wife and I remark to each other all the time how much Cooper seems like a human trapped in a dog's body. He has the most expressive eyes; we can tell he yearns to understand what we are saying to him. Easily one of the smartest dogs I've ever encountered.

Duncan, on the other hand... lol. Let's just say he's sweet.

This is our dog, we rescued him from a Dog Shelter when he was 1-2 years old. According to the Vet/animal Shelter he is an Italian greyhound, which I believe because once he runs there is no catching him (actually measured him running at 26mph). His name is Ricky and when we rescued him he was recovering from a car accident apparently a car ran/hit him and broke one of his paws( now he only has a scar and made a full recovery if he could run that fast.)

These are our 2 Cane Corso, Blue and Lola though sadly Blue passed over the Rainbow Bridge just before Christmas.

We miss Blue dearly, but Lola another rescue we adopted has helped ease the pain of her loss.

Never experienced the Cane Corso breed until we adopted Blue and don't think we'll ever own another breed now, totally fallen for them

Until I read this thread, and saw your pictures, I had never even heard of the Cane Corso breed.

Very nice pictures.

That animal looks as though he has a pretty distinct personality; lovely photograph, by the way.

Super little dogs, but yappy blighters, and when you stop one the others go under a table and carry on yapping :)
I had the greatest fun with the puppies, 6 weeks old and climbing all over me (lying down in the garden for them).

They fit on your lap easily and stay still - our black dally cross labrador used to insist on sitting on me then trample me to make it more comfortable.

Cheers :)

Thanks Scepticalscribe, they are a wonderful breed indeed, we'd never heard of them either until we adopted Blue, she was a Princess in every way possible, but could turn into a fearsome Warrior when needed.

Here's a few more photos of the girl Blue
