here are my temps in Celsius:

Isn't it slightly unhealthy to have my computer fans running at 6000rpm and still being in the 150 degrees F range even though i'm running a few pdf's, aim, and firefox? I used to have cooler temperatures say a year ago and back then i used to watch movies, play World of Warcraft, and have firefox/aim open all at once and my computer would run fine.

Mac Model:
Mac Pro v1.1
2.66GHz Quad
Self upgraded to X5355 processors = 8-Core 2.66GHz
12GB Memory
1TB RAID Internal
1TB System Drive

My fans are:
CPU Fan: 1600 RPM
PCIe Fan: 1500 RPM
Rear Fan: 1500 RPM
PSU Fan: 1400 RPM
This is still VERY quiet

And I guess I'm the coolest guy in the thread. ;)

How did you make that bigger?

Anyway I guess they weren't 1st generation X5355's They just run very cool! But every time I've owned Xeon they run cool so... At 100% on all 8 cores these hit 35C in the winter and always less than 45C in the summer. The Chip is rated at 80C I think. Or is it 85C ?

What scares me is how fast they can jump from 18C ~ 20C where they idle up to that 35C or 45C. It takes like 3 or 4 seconds and that's a fairly massive temperature jump.

its pretty scary how it can do that!! i wonder what is the cause, fans not kicking in fast enough?? heat sync problems?? interesting...

Excellent conductivity from the CPU trough to whereever the sensor actually is I would guess.
