New2, you're right.

I hate to advocate everyone bothering the AT&T reps who are doubtlessly busy enough, but that seems to be the only reliable way to get things done with them.

I ended up with a total of 15 contacts with AT&T that I initiated. One of those brought my my tracking number--I never even got an email about it at all. My wife has the phones--I'm told they're beautiful, but I wouldn't have known if I hadn't pressed and asked.

15 contacts seems like a lot, and it is. It wouldn't have been so many if nearly 1/3 of those hadn't given blatently false information. I understand that a rep might not have an answer, but admitting that is much better than lying to me.

So, the moral is, if you don't have your phone yet, or your proper discount, or if something isn't quite right with your AT&T service, badger the hell out of them. It's apparently the way to go.

For you premiere members that received them, did you call and wait on the premiere line or can you just plug it in and go? This is an upgrade from a 2G iPhone.

The wait time on ATT Premiere is 60 minutes and it just automatically hangs up after 5.

60 minutes wait time on Premier line?

That gives me a bit of poetic justice. I bet those CSRs was all getting the same basic question: WTF with my iPhone order, and if the Supervisors weren't aware of the problem before, now they scrambling.

Sheer incompetence. I was just YELLED at by a Premier Customer Service member by having the NERVE to ask the status of my order. She told me to call back after 14 days. WTF?! AT&T? Are you serious?!

Well I am sure that is all they've been asked for the past week or two.

See if you can take 2 weeks of:

When is my phone getting there?
When is my phone getting there?
When is my phone getting there?
When is my phone getting there?
When is my phone getting there?

hey consultant, can you tell me when is my iPhone getting there ?

One of the big things they drill into your head in customer service is basically this....

It may be the thousandth time YOU'VE HEARD the question.... but it is most likely the FIRST TIME this particular customer has ASKED the question. So keep that in mind and answer the last person the same way you answered the first.... in a nice way.

Something tells me that "The Fred Factor" should be required reading for AT&T employees.

the only positive thing about this day is i sure have made a lot of posts here on macrumors.com

Wow I can't believe they left mine at the door.

What if someone took it? I thought you had to sign for these things.

So is there no details on when/if AT&T said they will receive more in stock?

The shatty thing is that it was "in stock" when I ordered, only to be "out of stock" in reality.

Everyone,
If you package IS AT A FEDEX LOCATION, you may have GOOD LUCK in going IN PERSON and trying to get your package early.

I was lucky and was able to pick up the iPhones!!!

A video of the opening will be coming soon!

Thanks!

Ordered through the Premier website the 12th.

Online status still says "order recieved, processing shortly"

AT&T chat all said "it's processing"

Just called 1 866 499 8008 and the automated thing told me that it was processed and will be shipped shortly.

Now waiting my estimated 60 minutes to talk to a human.

the waiting music is awesome

I think the problem with your logic, in this case, is that AT&T bungled this whole launch for a 3rd year in a row. So while in a normal circumstance it might be the first time you here from Mr. Smith, I know myself and many others have called 15-20 times in the last week trying to get more information about our orders and what’s going on.

I understand it’s annoying, part of my work is customer service, but then again you signed up for when you took the job.

Just off the phone with an AT&T CSR - their warehouse is showing negative quantities now. AT&T really dropped the ball on customer information.

---snip---
I'm pretty sure you still have to call since the iPhone has a new SIM card, and the one in your old non-iPhone probably isn't compatible. Join the club listening to the hold music on the AT&T customer service line. :p

EDIT: Just noticed the following bold text on the instructions sheet that came with my iPhone...

To ensure proper iPhone operation, you must use the SIM card preinstalled in your iPhone. Data services and Visual Voicemail may not function with a SIM card form another device.

i tried to cancel my premier order earlier, but no luck. so i decided to just go to an att store and get the phone there. all att stores around my area are sold out. now i just checked the premier order status, which finally showed a tracking number with a delivery date of 6/22.

got a tracking #. shipped today for overnight. delivery scheduled for 6/22. oh well.

WTF? I don't work for AT&T. You missed my point entirely. My point was that AT&T needs to stop being so freaking snippy to people just because they've heard a question a bunch of times. They need to realize that when I ask a question as a customer it is a totally different customer than the last guy who asked it, and I called looking for info... NOT attitude.
