You know, Bukka, I don't mean to deflate any of your post, but if you have a "Various SIM" or whatever line that has a tracking number, your phone is in that package. Same thing happened to mine, and I got it today.

Thanks, hasel0001, I'm glad to know that everything's been shipped (but too bad ATT couldn't tell me that before you did). Of course I wish I had the phone today, but I'm happy I can at least expect it on Monday. I know some people are getting them today even though they had an expected delivery of 6/22, but I think those are all FedEx. I don't expect the same from UPS.

And thanks again to the ATT rep who called me back - I wish I would have gotten your name so I could thank you personally.
 
So annoyed right now!

I ordered on the morning of the 10th via Premier, everything still says backordered. Just spent 45 mins on hold before I got to speak to a Premier rep, he said my order was submitted on the 10th but didn't get processed till the 16th, so I missed the initial batch and will have to wait 7-14 days for the next one.

I asked what caused the processing delay a couple of times and he basically danced around the question. First he tried to say they had so many orders and I didn't order soon enough. When I mentioned that I knew the cut-off date was the 12th, and I ordered the morning of the 10th, he then said it wasn't order date that mattered, it was proccessing date that mattered, and due to their processing back log I ordered too late to make the cut-off. So I mentioned that I know people who ordered 3 days after me that got their phones today, Finally he said something about an internal error applying the rate plan to my account and that there is nothing he can do to speed up my order, and that I will have to wait 7-14 days for the next batch.

So even though I did everything right, and he admitted the error was on their end, he can't or won't do anything to try and fix the error, or even give me any kind of status other than "7-14 days". Great first experience I am having with AT&T. Makes me wonder what the next 2 years will be like.

I guess I'm going to take the weekend to re-consider my purchase, and if things haven't changed by Monday, I might just cancel and get the Palm Pre. I'd much rather have the 3Gs, but I don't know if I want to deal with AT&T as my provider. My company gets a better discount with Sprint anyway. :mad:

And THAT is exactly what worries me. The last guy I spoke to told me that it was order date that counted, not processing date - but I fully expect him to be wrong and for me to be told that I missed the window, even though I ordered on the 10th. This just plain sucks. Try to do the right thing and get screwed every time.
 
I ordered from Premier on June 9th (Early Upgrade) and choose 2nd Day shipping. My phone shipped on Thur and arrived in Portland, OR at 5:51am this morning. It was sorted and on a truck for delivery at 8:20am (even though the FedEx status page said delivery was scheduled by 4:30pm on Monday). The phone was left at my doorstep at 11:09am (no signature required).

Still no charge to my credit card that I have seen.

This is my opinion: You've been fed a complete BS by CSR. The bottomline is: he has no clue the real reason, and because of his role as the Expert (before you start asking for escalation to his sup.) he made up a complete BS story. ATT CSRs and DirecTV CSRs appeared to be made up of the same cloth. Since the wait is such a long time, it's hard to just hang up and find somebody else who would know what's going on, or ask for supervisor. It might take several calls before you get to the real reason/story/excuse.
 
Sipping 2nd day air not Overnight!

My husband has been on the phone with AT&T for over an hour now about why our iphone is still in TX, shipping 2nd day air instead of the overnight shipping that the premier site promised in the predelivery phase? Anyone else in this situation? Sorry if I missed it in previous posts. An email they sent today to us also says the billing starts today! What!?!?! We don't even have the phone! Yikes, this is not boding well.... I know AT&T isn't stellar, but this is really ridiculous....:mad:

yep this happened to me as well. my phone is still sitting in texas and has been for 36 hours. :mad:

Same thing happened to my bf who also ordered on June 10th. He called yesterday to see if it had been shipped yet (since I received my tracking number) and they told him there was a processing error. They had to re-enter the order manually over the phone. The rep told him that the order would be given overnight priority (it's a family plan with more than one phone) but the iphone wouldn't be included but would ship in 7-10 days. So he checked his online order status and it replaced his order date from the 10th to the 18th! He called back and another CS rep told him that she would give it priority since the mistake was on ATTs end and that it would ship today (19th). He called again this afternoon to see if there was any update or tracking info and the rep told him that his phone won't be shipping for 7-14 days because he missed the first batch. He asked if he could cancel the order and they told him no. He asked why he can't cancel if it hasn't shipped yet and they just said he couldn't. He's on his way to an ATT store right now to try to talk to someone in person. :mad:
 
I'm a premier customer and don't even have an option to purchase a 3G S at any price. I only can buy the 8gig 3G and the other iphone options are marked sold out. The 3G S is not even on the page.
 
An update on my situation, I just received a call from a CS rep who gave me a bit more info on what happened. I guess there was an error in confirming my number port, and that is what caused the processing delay. I still don't understand why that should have caused me to lose my place in line if they were shipping on a "first come first served" basis, but at least I understand what happened now. They still can't do anything to get me a phone any sooner than 7-14 days, but the rep was very polite and apologetic and that at least makes me feel a bit better about AT&T customer service.

Good luck to the rest of you still waiting, hope you get better news than I did.
 
Update: Received email notification that iPhone is shipped Standard Overnight, to arrive on Monday June 22nd.

Better late than never.

I wonder if this has been a planned delay all along, to mitigate Phone Activation server overloading? Imagine if everyone received their 3GS today and (obviously) everyone wants to activate them immediately? oh well.

I was listed as backordered up until the time I canceled my order today. I got tired of waiting, so I went to the ATT store today to try and buy in person, and thankfully they had 32gb Black still in stock. Thus, called to cancel my order from Premier,while the folks at the store re-did my order and bought the phone in-store. Was not about to wait needlessly until God knows how long...I recommend everyone still waiting go to the store and try to buy in person and just cancel your Premier order (make sure they have the phone you want in-stock before canceling!) Time to enter into iPhone bliss...see ya ;)
 
I ordered a black 32g 3GS on the 15th and it just shipped out, it should be here Monday! Whats funny is I received an email and the ATT page said it shipped. The premier page still says "We have received your order request, and we expect to begin processing it shortly".......

Was not about to wait needlessly until God knows how long...I recommend everyone still waiting go to the store and try to buy in person and just cancel your Premier order (make sure they have the phone you want in-stock before canceling!) here's an update on my status: Just got a call from a ATT rep that explained that she understood our frustrations on not receiving our phones today (mine is stuck in TX for delivery monday) when my order was placed early AM on the 11th. She said she was working very hard to try to get UPS to deliver it on Saturday (since she said they were supposed to have an agreement to deliver them today). I guess for FedEx it worked out but not with UPS. She could not guarantee Saturday delivery (which i'm skeptical and not counting on) but she did apologize for the mishap. She said ATT really valued my business and is doing what they can to get me my phone.

I would like to say I really appreciate receiving a call from them and while it doesn't make the situation completely better, it's nice to talk to someone who sounds like they know what they're talking about and not trying to give you the run-around or get you off the phone. I appreciate the gesture and hope I can get my phone tomorrow. If not, I'm stuck till Monday. I do feel better knowing I will at least GET my phone whereas others (like my bf) are stuck waiting 7-14 days because of ATTs errors.
 
OK, I am ready to post what is probably a dense post, but I want to make sure I am doing things right since this my first iPhone. ;)

I just got the phone and opened it. I have plugged it in to a USB hub on my MacBook Pro and iTunes popped up and I am starting at a "Welcome to Your New iPhone - Let's Get Started" screen with two buttons "Register Later" and "Continue". That is where I still currently sit. I basically just plugged it in to start charging it. I am not going to do anything through iTunes right now. (Correct??)

In parallel, I called 1-866-499-8008, where I am on hold. This is where I am actually going to activate, right? I have to talk to an agent before I do anything with iTunes, correct?? Btw, they 60 minutes hold time -- I wonder, if I wanted to, could I go to an AT&T store and get it activated?

That's what I was thinking. Can't you just go to the store and activate it there? At least you got your phone. I'm still waiting. The FedEx guy is running late. and I'm typically one of his last stops!

USPS says that my package was just processed at my local processing center. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow. Based on my past experience with priority mail - I'm pretty sure I'll get it!

Exactly what happened to me. Ordered on the 11th. The guy told me it didn't even process until yesterday (18th). Absolutely ridiculous. I canceled of course. I was thinking the palm pre anyways and similarly my company has better sprint discounts.

Hey, if ATT doesn't want my money, I will go somewhere else.
