lol! I don't know if I could ever justify $1999 CDN for an 512GB iPhone Xs Max. That's insane! :) Gonna see how long my iPhone X 64gb will last. I only shoot in 1080p and 200GB iCloud storage i got almost 40gb free on my phone. I guess if you did A LOT of 4k videos and didn't use iCloud maybe 512GB is justified?

The prices are as high as I expected. My upgrade from the 8 Plus to the Xs Max is $15 more a month ($60).

May drop to the 64GB or the Xs...not sure yet...

again, 1,100$ for a phone (basic configuration...). For a device that in 2 years will be slow and unusable...
If you don't want to pay the price, don't get the phone. You save money and have one less thing to gripe about. Problem solved.

Really don't see the need to complain to internet strangers, about a phone you don't want to pay for, unless you are looking for a handout.

We'll see how many people that now say the new phone is too expensive, get into the frenzy on the first hour of ordering and end up buying.

Just like apple wants. You can't resist missing out!!! (Not including me!)

The IUP program was a signal that Apple would charge more. Apple is following the new car business in terms don't focus on the high upfront cost, "tell me what you can afford each month". I anticipate within 10 years IUP will be charging a customer $100 per month if not sooner.

Here is Canada you essentially pay for the top iPhone half of its retail price, then $30/month for 2 years. But for the 512GB iPhone Xs Max at $1999, they may need to raise that $40/Month on top of your plan or have the customer pay more upfront for the phone.

Its not "just a phone" I use this thing for everything. I use Home Automation heavily, so it is my home's remote control. I use Apple Pay extensively, so it is my credit cards. Of course who carries a camera anymore, so everyone uses the camera on this thing, and the cameras on this thing is amazing.

A phone is better than 1100 pieces of dirty green paper
I use a card :p.

Agree with the argument that $1100 is too much for the phone, but to say they will be slow and unusable after 2 years is a bit of a stretch.

You might need a new battery after two years but technically my GF’s iPhone 7 Plus that is two years old runs plenty fast and is plenty usable.

They should have priced the iPhone Xs at $900, and the Xs Max at $1000. That would’ve been more reasonable to me.

Yep, it's crazy. I will still buy it, but Apple will lose my sale next year as for the first time ever I'll most likely keep it for 2 years. I disagree with the 2 year thing though, my wife's iPhone 7 runs perfectly and that's on iOS11 which is so buggy. iOS12 is supposed to breathe new life into older hardware.

I was thinking the same thing..those prices are damn ridiculous you have people upgrading to those prices every year?lol...geez...Im looking hard at the note 9 deal now buy one get one FREE!!!!

Remember they're cheap cause Google et al eventually make money off selling you...

I dont get why folks complain, these devices will easily last 5 years nowadays, and no other company offers the support and privacy for this duration.

Dont upgrade until you have to just like any other computer.

The prices have always been high, but we’re getting less than ever for our money. No way in hell should the default X plus have 64gb of non expandable storage. Cloud storage be damned.

A TOP TIER phone like the oneplus 6T is going to be something like $569-$669. It’s camera and screen are below the X plus, but that’s about it. Considering a top of the line 6T will be nearly $1000 cheaper than the 512gb x plus, that’s absurd. $1600 after taxes for a phone is hard to stomach. I love my 8 plus and I think I will offset it with a 6T. On principle alone I will not pay $1600 for a phone.

Someone who makes $100k a year takes home enough to buy a 512gb x in one paycheck. It’s been a good run, but my frugal side won’t allow me to pay these prices when android is killing the game.

Talk to me in 5 years about the support and security updates you've not gotten on that cheap oneplus.

Tell me ONE iphone that is 5 years old and is still tolerable to use. The 6 and 6+ are not 5 years old, but are borderline unusable.

I strongly suggest you don't buy that phone. May I kindly suggest maybe a Moto G5 Plus, it probably does everything you want for around $200, they even have forums you can post in.

Good luck

Slow and unusable?! What are you smoking?

We ain’t talking about Android phones here. With this chipset this thing will fly for at least three to four years.

Yeah nice try.

I'm not playing at NZ$2099 for the 64GB Xs Max. At least not initially. I'll put iOS 12 on my 7+ and see how it runs, then reconsider when I qualify for a phone subsidy in November. Even then I don't think I will be able to justify the Max to myself.
64GB is plenty for me. I'm currently using 40GB, and could drop another 10GB with no effort, just by removing stuff I don't use.

Very disappointed with the pricing. Xs max should’ve started at $999. Nothing different between the x and xs other than the screen.

I know several who still use the 5s which is 5 years old this month. Tolerable for you and I might be different for others.
Its nice to know the phone will actually be supported for a long time if I choose to use it for 3-4 years.

p.s. Ive heard iOS 12 performance is better on 5s, but proof is to be seen next week I guess.

Bingo.
I can afford it. It’s only $15/month more on the AUP than I pay today. .. there is just something about that price. Maybe I give in. Maybe I don’t... but I have gone from being 100% getting the XSM before today to about 25% today.

Pretty much me as well, 64 gb is really making it a tough choice.

Kooky prices .. but hey, it's the market, right? Apple targets the top end. Nothing wrong with that. That's why we buy their stock.

Except I don't operate there ;-( I'm hoping ATT comes out with some kind of upgrade deal for my 7 Plus trade-in. If not, I'll just hang in for another year. My 7 Plus is pretty sweet - and, there are lotsa good iPhones around if I get tempted ...

$749 for a phone with 64GB of storage, one camera and 326 ppi in 2018? I'm not sure what Apple is currently thinking, that's crazy.

Agreed.
