I think the prices are correct other than iPhone XS Max. They should have added more GB in iPhone XS Max and some additional features that iPhone XS doesn't have.

If you look at it this way. Previous iPhone X vs iPhone XS - lots of speed improvements and Smart HRD, A12 chip, Faster Face ID, Better Portrait etc overall many upgrades in performance rather than any additional features. Cost? it's the same USD999.

Now looking at iPhone XS Max. It's very undervalue. Apple may think it's just USD100 more but just for an upgrade of Bigger Screen and Landscape Apps doesn't justify at all. Worst part is 64GB on iPhone XS Max. I mean just for 2 features 100USD more? It's a rip off for the people who want Bigger Screen!

iPhone XR - Competitive price.
iPhone XS - Glad it's still 999USD and it's still worth it.
iPhone XS Max - Total Rip off & Worthless but still worthy enough for Big Screen lovers

The Xr is a downgrade from the 8 Plus in too many ways.

It does however have the newest design, silicon (A12 Bionic), and wide-angle camera. In retrospect it compares best to the regular 8 in features and its position in the lineup.

iPhone 8 -> iPhone Xr
iPhone 8 Plus -> iPhone Xs

iPhone Xs Max is a new size/price category.

I think Apple has seriously misjudged their price elasticity of demand. £100 cheaper and I think they would fly off the shelves.

If that’s the case, that’s why carrier promotions exist. But I think carrying over the $999 price shows that it’s Apple’s intention to continue offering the flagship iPhone at a $999 price point.

Meanwhile Xr is a great value at $749 for the average consumer who may not care about the OLED display or 3D Touch.

I’m only slightly disappointed they didn’t bump up the base storage to 128GB or offer 256GB for $100. iPhone Xr at $799 for 128GB is easily the best value in the lineup.

So I guess updates on the 6s is finally done right?

Didn't Apple shorten updates on the 6s? Apple usually goes 5 years per model.

6s came out 2015,

Your missing an incredible point and that point is that Samsung allows expanded memory so realistic the 64gb would be 256gb if you had expanded memory. And you also leaving out you can get bogos on Samsung phones. And please don’t go the route of Apple is better or premium that’s why no bogos

The new Samsung note also starts at 128 gb of storage with the aforementioned expandable storage.

The design is less important to me than ppi, and I’ve gotten used to 3D Touch and the dual cameras at this point. Still not sure which way I’m going to go on this.

Sounds like the iPhone Xs might be your best option if you decide to upgrade.

It's not just "a phone". It's a pocketable super computer.

I’ve been saying this for a few years now when the price issue comes up. For most people the smartphone is their primary and likely most used computer. And the bit about being slow and unusable in 2 years is nonsense. The current 2 year old iPhone feels brand new still on iOS 12. And I have many family members who are currently using 4 year old iPhones 6 and are quite happy.

Does it suck that the top of the line iPhone has slowly raised in price? Sure does. But it’s improved significantly over the years as well. And they do have models that aren’t $1100.

Not happy with the price? Don’t buy it.

I thought the Xr would be $700, but the upgraded memory would be $800. Now I find out it's $750, with an upgrade of memory price of... $800. That's fine by me lol. Coming from an iPhone 6S+, seems like an upgrade in every way. All this talk about PPi and 720P vs 1080P on small screens seem insane to me, but I'll be waiting till people who actually know what they are talking about (some of the reviewers, with actual units doing a side by side comparison) get their hands on them before I decide what I'll actually buy.

The video quality between the 8 and 8 Plus is noticeable. I’ve personally tried tested them. This is a deal breaker for me and the Xr

Most other consumer electronics improve year over year as well, but the price does not increase. Technology gets cheaper with time.

Apple is shoving more features into their products to justify the higher price they want to charge.

As you said, people are free to not buy if they are unhappy with Apple's decision. There's no sense in anybody getting upset about the new phones, nobody is being forced to buy them.

People will pay full price for the Max without batting an eye. The funny thing is that the people who are on the fence about spending that much $ (the $1100+ price range) who still buy a new iPhone will probably end up spending at least $800 or $900 and feel like they got a pretty good deal. But that amount of $ is still higher on average than past phones... so Apple still wins.

Yes these devices really are social media devices. When I got rid of my social media accounts earlier this year I also realized I don't need my phone much, and downgraded to an SE. It's proven to be a great decision for me personally, but I'm left without an upgrade path with Apple. I hope they maintain the SE for some time to come.

I'd go with the 8 as an upgrade to the SE. It really isn't that much bigger.

All due respect, that's simply not true. I work in IT and this phone is my lifeline for my career. I can remote to any PC/server in the entire organization, check email, run scripts, fix issues of nearly any sort, etc. If I get a call from one of our automated notifications at 3am because a server went down, I don't even have to get out of bed anymore to get another device. I can answer the call, log in to the server, fix the problem, email/text/call anyone else involved, and all of this can be done on the same device.

Yes, the cost is almost ridiculous... but this device is a massive convenience for me and it's definitely not for Social Media.

If I am on call, I am on call. Dont call me at home, Ill be inthe office waiting for the trouble call.

All these phones have done is brought work into the home after hours. Not healthy at all.

I’m considering it. I can get the Xs at 256 GB for the same price as a 64 GB Xs Max. However I’m used to the Plus size and battery. When I used the regular 7 for a year it felt too small and the battery drained too fast. I may stay with the 8 Plus.

It’s not a bad size difference. I had a 6 in the past. I just love how the SE is easily used one handed. The 6 and other phones of that size aren’t usable one handed for me.

The prices were going to be high, let’s be honest. What really sucks is the default storage being 64gb. They offer 128gb but ONLY for the “budget” model? F out of here..

Again, it may be for me too, but I need to see them side by side before I can make that call.
