Now that it’s been proven there is a broad market for a $999+ device with the original X, the sky is the limit. It will take a major market correction for prices to go to reasonable levels. Carriers will have to stop financing and leasing phones I think. And that is never going to happen. In fact we will likely start seeing longer terms soon.

Yup... even the xR starts at $1,399. I'm not sure what to do as my 7 can't last a day with not a lot of use..
Apple smart battery case for $99.

Lol... 5 year payment plan for a $2000 phone.

Talking about the 256gb, cause you would need that, €1350 for XS and €1450 for the XS max here in Ireland, if i sell my 8 plus 256gb it will still cost me €1000! There are some saying they will fly off the shelves, i really doubt that, i still haven't seen anyone with the X from last year, there just too expensive, people not willing to give that kinda money.

Oh absolutely. As they cram more and more tech in these things, and, culturally, as phones become the sole computer for most people (already happening) I can see further up-market shifts. I fully expect $2,000 iPhones in the next 10 years.
I think you are right. Look at how generation Z and younger has adopted the use of mobile devices. It's an extension of their body. Innovation will continue and it won't be a decade before we'll see things like holographic displays. The smartphone will take on more and more roles like artificial personal assistant, study coach, artificial friend, health safeguard, more entertainment options etc etc. With devices servicing more aspects of life, people will be willing to spend more.

Do these prices including the tariffs? If not, the prices may be higher if/when the tariffs take effect.
The price is the price.

Computers already do this and prices went down rather than up.

Was considering upgrading if T-Mobile was serious about their “aggressive” promotion deal they had been teasing. $300 for an iPhone 7 Plus is laughable at best and not a promotion when Apple offers $275.

Either way, I’ll do the $30 battery replacement before the end of the year and it can last me another year easily. I’ve always said the 3GB of RAM on the 7 Plus was the biggest seller for me, and with iOS 12 and a new battery it’ll run like a new phone (and $1069 cheaper ;) )

Seems to me they cared more about the watch than the phone today.
I have the IphoneX from last year and there's just not enough on these new models to make me want to get one. The R doesn't come out until October 19th so the pre-orders this week are only on the S and S Plus models. Because of the later release date I was expecting the R to be more expensive and the S to be the lesser. You'd think Apple would want to sell phones instead of turning people off. I can't understand why they're pushing the 8, that was from last year or did they upgrade it?

Seems to me they solidified a successful holiday season by modernizing the entire iPhone lineup and increasing the average sale price of an iPhone even though they added the more value-priced Xr.

The prices have always been high, but we’re getting less than ever for our money. No way in hell should the default X plus have 64gb of non expandable storage. Cloud storage be damned.

A TOP TIER phone like the oneplus 6T is going to be something like $569-$669. It’s camera and screen are below the X plus, but that’s about it. Considering a top of the line 6T will be nearly $1000 cheaper than the 512gb x plus, that’s absurd. $1600 after taxes for a phone is hard to stomach. I love my 8 plus and I think I will offset it with a 6T. On principle alone I will not pay $1600 for a phone.

Someone who makes $100k a year takes home enough to buy a 512gb x in one paycheck. It’s been a good run, but my frugal side won’t allow me to pay these prices when android is killing the game.

If I didn’t get the X last year I’d definitely get the XR.

Now that I have OLED I wouldn’t want to go back to LCD, but anyone without the X is getting a solid upgrade with the XR.

I’m not “super wealthy” but I do well for myself and $1,149 was really hard to spend last year on a phone...even though it was I justified it and I did it.

I have no idea how people are justifying the Max...because 64gb is a joke so you’re at least spending $1,249 before taxes on the 256gb option.

I’m coming from a 256gb 8+ on the IUP ($45 per month monthly payment) and just can’t justify an extra $15 per month for a max with the same storage. Now seeing that the XR has portrait mode on the camera and better battery life than every other phone, I think I’m going to hold out for the XR and save a couple bucks on my monthly payments in the process (XR is $43 per month for the 256gb).

Folks, this may be the kick in the pants you need to try android. Not trying to be “that guy”, but the value for your dollar is insulting right now when it comes to iPhones. Either pay insane pricing for 256gb or make friends with the cloud. Apple brought back 128gb storage but ONLY for the budget model. They know most people would be thrilled with 128gb, but the oled models are basically milking you for a few extra bucks and trying to strong arm you into going for the 256. Sad, really.

Naw. I like iPhones, and I've used both Android and iPhones. It's my choice. Nothing for you to be sad about.

In Canada, the iPhone the rumours were calling "cheap" and "entry level" starts at $1029 pre-tax haha

Incredible.

Somewhere, someone is justifying this outright as a good purchase.

Will remain to see what it is on contract. I presume similar to what the iPhone 8 Plus was last year at launch...$359 for the 64GB, $559 for the 256GB version...presumably about $459 for the 128GB version.

The iPhone 8 here was $229 at launch for the 64GB version, but the 8 was cheaper at launch.

299$ on contract would be possible, since the XR is 50$ US cheaper than the 8 Plus

The XS/ XS Max though overpriced are what I expected coming from X pricing

I thought if anything maybe they'd swing $1149 for a XS Max.

The XR though, is what surprised me. Kept hearing multiple colors, LCD, one camera, and thinking its going to be a budget phone, possibly even A11 recycled, like a hiked SE play. It wasn't that at all.

It was an A12 device that is almost on par with XS, but also has advantages (battery life).

iPhone XS Max 256GB - $1,249
iPhone XS 256GB - $1,149
iPad Pro 12.9” w/Cell 256GB - $1,079
iPad Pro 10.5” w/Cell 256GB - $929

If you want a bigger screen size and mobile freedom, there's a lot more value getting an iPad Pro with cellular. Even cheaper if you are fine with Wifi only. 120hz displays are also a way bigger improvement than OLED "burn-in" displays.

Remember when the top-end iPhone was $599 and that was "expensive" 11 years ago?

The iPhone 5 was $649 SIM-free. This new phone is $1099, assuming you're looking at the Xs Max.

The Xs Max is $200 cheaper than two iPhone 5's. Pretty close to me.

itsmilo's point stands.
Actually the iPhone 8 is $599 now. You can almost buy two 8’s for this.

Yeah. Was thinking of going back to iOS with a larger iPhone X being available. Sticking with my Pixel 2 for now. I'll then decide between the Pixel 3 or the OnePlus 6T with their in-screen fingerprint sensor (oh and that OnePlus 6T will probably only be $550-$600).

Oof.. No thanks Apple.

OnePlus 6T looks like it will be a great phone too. Can't go wrong

lol all you guys saying Im not getting one--as soon as you see friends with one or browse the apple store and SEE it, you will be ripping the CC out of your wallet

Yeah, that's why I'm rocking the X right now. [/sarcasm]

It's naive to assume that everyone thinks like you, and kind of sad if you are so easily swayed.
