You gotta be trolling, aren’t ya?:)

It was quite obvious (at least to me) that an OLED display won’t change anything. Just more oversaturated colors, flickering, probably burn out in 5-10 years perspective.

I have had multiple OLED devices and believe me I know what I am talking about, these are not game changers and never have been.

I still remember those posts on MacRumors forum where people asked Apple to add OLED because every Android phone already had it. They have added it, aaaaand? Nothing really changed. I can barely tell difference in iPhone 15 and iPhone SE displays except for the slight brightness increase and oversaturated colors in 15, and my eyes get tired faster

But people need deep blacks when surfing the web or when watching unboxing videos on YouTube because it makes their web experience that much better. Yes the very first thing I judge when going to a website is how deep those blacks are.

100 gram, 0.5mm thick iPad
10,000 nits brightness
1 month battery life

Then maybe I consider it. What people tend to forget is that OLED is still vulnerable to burn in. I expect to be hearing all the horror stories 3 months from now on all the burn in iPads. This is Apple's very first try at OLED so in a way it's a beta project.

THIS, right here. All the people bagging on me for wishing this powerhouse came with the ability to run MacOS will be praising Tim Cook's brilliance for revolutionizing mobile computing again like they'd been simping for it all along the moment he announced it.
The fan base is so delusional at this point I want nothing to do with Apple products. Anyone that finds faults with Apple products or has opinion not shared by Apple (like MacOS tablets) is instantly an outcast and reticuled. Microsoft makes Windows tables and they are extremely popular in the wild. I have one in my kit for running Smaart for doing acoustic tuning, and it’s fantastic. Being able to run the professional applications I use on a tablet is so convenient. I would never buy an iPad again because it’s useless. It’s literally a large iPhone. I’ve owned several over the years including the first gen and I never found a reason to keep them. They always fall short enough that I just use a laptop. If they ran MacOS I could find a bunch more use cases. But hey, the blind fanboys here told us we are wrong and our opinions invalid so we must concede. We mustn’t go against Apple. They are always right in all things.

Why are you even in this forum, then?

It shouldn’t matter what other people think about Apple and what you might want or need in a product. This isn’t high school. What should matter is you being able to make use of the products you buy. Ignore all the other crap.

I'm coming from a 2018 3rd generation 11" iPad Pro to the new 11" M4 Pro cellular with 256 GB and I'm thrilled with the OLED screen, the thinness and speed. Heck, I'm even thrilled with the new denim blue case. But that's me. My cost was $425 with gift cards and previous recycled products including my current iPad so maybe I'm not as outraged by the price as some and just enjoying the upgrade.

Returning, not worth the dollars going from a 11" M1 to 11" M4 IMO
Might try the 13" out.
Maybe the new 13" speakers are closer to the 11" M1 lol

Looking at this thread reminds me of why I stopped coming to this forum….

if you don’t see the difference between IPS displays and OLED, good for you, tonnes of other folks do.

If you can’t make use or enjoy the power difference of going from a 2018 iPad to the current gen IPP, good for you, tonnes of other folks do

tldr; if the product isn’t for you then it isn’t for you. just like you have your own opinion about a product doesn’t mean you have to try and make folks look stupid for enjoying their new purchase, “hoho look at all those idiots speding 2k for an OLED, I can buy an OLED tv with that!” More power to you for saving $$

Microsoft’s Surface division has never turned a profit. It exists primarily to push OEMs to make better products. Perhaps with the new Snapdragon X Elite the Surface will be a compelling product. But even now Microsoft seems to be relying on Dell, ASUS, etc. Dell’s focus seems to be the XPS line, which is more a competitor to the MacBook Air than the iPad.

My iPad is my primary personal device. For the few things I do need a “proper” PC for, I use a Remote Desktop app to access my Mac from wherever I am.

Remote Desktop from an iPad is the definition of painful. Glad it works for you.

I’m glad you’re here to positively contribute your ideas and opinions. It would be a shame if you were just here to zip off one liners because criticism of Apple makes you cry inside.

I could care less about Apple criticism as I'm not an Apple-centric user - I also have 6 Android tablets (I'm a retired s/w & h/w engineer and have done a lot of custom ROM work) and a Surface Pro.

I never cease to be amazed at the emotions that the iPad stirs up. I love my new M4 iPad Pro and I’ve had just about every version since its release. Found this from long ago…so little has changed….https://scottkelby.com/why-is-everybody-so-imad-about-the-ipad/. The Mac was not perfect 14 years in. I know because I‘ve had them since the Mac Plus. Frankly MacOS is still far from perfect, but it is a mature OS which you’d certainly hope it would be after 40 years of development. iPadOS has a long way to go, but I’d argue it’s way ahead of where Mac OS was at the same time in its evolution. And I love Macs as well so not bashing on them at all. I can do all of my work on my iPad, and I work in finance. So not a programmer or podcaster. Most aren’t in fact. I don’t care if some can’t fathom how I get work done on my iPad. I just do. it will never run MacOS btw. Sorry, but just look at where Apple is directing its development resources. iOS, iPadOs, WatchOS and VisionOS. All based on iOS. Apple has never even hinted at MacOS on the iPad. Yelling and screaming on a forum won’t change that. Apple is already showing us where it’s placing its bets. That is not with MacOS and certainly not with MacOS on an iPad. Will they ever create some kind of hybrid device that runs both? Who knows? But personally I sincerely doubt it. To me, it seems obvious that the iOS ecosystem will eventually mature to make MacOS irrelevant. I’m sure I’m stupid for thinking this but it comes from nearly a lifetime of watching how Apple does things. Doesn't mean I’m right at all. Just an opinion like all the others here.
