Please reference the credible report. Its all rumors and here say as far as i can tell.

There are also reports the custom designed displays Sony manufactures for Apple's AVP are supply constrained. Apparently that's the big hold up.

Apple intentionally constraining supply to juice up demand is a favorite go-to by many here to suggest a product is flopping - ie in a state of flopism.

Not exactly a scientific sample. From the article:

“With the help of sources inside Apple's retail chain at 24 mostly US east coast stores, I've been keeping an eye on return volumes as best as I can for the last week.”
I know that but it is first article that did not title it as some kind of click bait that returns were high those are also not scientific and usually written by someone not liking or keeping theirs. At least it is one bucking the trend that pushes idea of big return rate. I am sure we will learn more.

This starts a whole new set of influencers and people in the forums having to justify keeping it.

I dont understand your comment. Apple is far from being “all in” with their investment on the AVP. In fact, they have invested far less than what they did for a still non existent car. As an investor what are your thoughts on that? As an investor I like that they are not staying stagnant. I acknowledge not everything will succeed, but i do know the result of stop trying And not gambling.
I'm talking about real investors, not the owner/ceo of apple.

While I am not buying currently and no nearby Apple Store all 2-3 hours away I am curious. I am nearsighted and wonder if one can send the prescription to zeiss and see if it can even be made for me before (if day comes) I order online given no near Apple Store? Can anyone who has prescription and ordered and received one comment on the experience ? Does Zeiss confirm they can make and then you order or they cannot and you know you are one of unlucky ones ;-)

I'm super nearsighted and did a demo last weekend. I brought my glasses to the store, and they put it in a machine to get the prescription. The inserts they used for the demo worked great. Everything looks very clear.

As for ordering, I just pretended to order online and you get to a point where it asks you to upload your prescription. I would imagine/hope that you would get some sort of notification if they have problems with your prescription.

the vision pro should be something use on the go outside that gives u real life information on anything u look at or touch but it’s not there yet

The big issues with VR as a media platform are 1) glare 2) light leakage and 3) resolution.

Vision suffers from all of these problems. It has glare. It has light leakage. It has lower resolution than a 4k TV.

This is why it will fail as a media platform. Unless it’s seriously upgraded … and so far as we know NO company has been able to overcome these issues yet.

No the biggest is comfort. If all you get is eye strain and facial discomfort then the above doesn’t really matter.

Eating the AVP would make more sense in that situation (and would be more interesting to watch).

I don’t think anyone will be eating any Apple products. It sounds strange but I think Apple is built up enough to have something not sell well but avoid being a classic “flop”. Worst case I see this being abandoned by app developers then quietly phased out.

Way too soon to tell now, and guarantee they have the next version going with an M3.

Mine's going back. The movies are cool for sure, but you're going solo. If you have a family, it's a great way to isolate yourself. I had it on a two week trip and it was great in my hotel room but back home I have no desire to use it. It's also not easy for others to use, instead of Guest mode they need to just have other user profiles, like a Mac.

Great tech, but just way too many shortcomings for $4000 (512GB +tax)... and I should add, those that decide to keep it, you are Apple's beta testers. The apps are severely lacking but getting better every day (in quantity and quality). I had problems with 4/5 AVP apps I tried, and most of them are pay-up-front, so I put in for a few refunds. If you want a great app to showcase the AR abilities of AVP, JigSpace is awesome and you get a ton of stuff for free.

I would just assume Apple have a helmet instead of the headset. The helmet can take the pressure off the front of your face and can house the battery. The battery cable and pack is lame. The headset will fatigue your face and nose, or wherever it happens to rest on your face. I have a hard time making it through a movie. There's also a glare coming off the displays, it's weird. I thought it was fog at first.

Glad I got to "test" it for two weeks though. I never wonder if it was a good buy or not. I'll wait and get the gen 3. Will probably swap my Oculus 2 for the 3 for now. Oculus has a ton of games and entertainment and it's amazing for the cost. Super light with no battery pack.

You bring up an interesting issue.
What kind of AVP sales figures and growth rates going forward do devs want to keep investing in creating best in class apps? The kind of apps Apple needs to make the AVP a success. It's a real chicken and egg situation.

"Developers, developers, developers."

I think that a huge number of people who thought that AVP is a product ready to use, will return it. Since it is not. Devs will keep it to develop and test their apps.
But this resembles just the opinion of the Apple staff who had concerns - and with Jobs, we would not have seen the AVP in 2024.

Tim is now doomed to succeed, if AVP fails - Tim might be history.

Lots of reasons to return. Even the App Store is a joke. There’s no way to even browse all the apps. Only the select few that Apple highlights.

Can’t answer phone. Notifications stink. Buggier than a beta. Lack of useful apps to do what Apple keeps harping on. No mouse. Millions of iPad apps except the popular ones. Lack of window mgmt. Barebones browser. Buggy Mac virtual screen. No way to stream videos of any kind not even immersive ones. Apps that can play downloaded videos are buggy. No easy way to download anything (has to be done via Mac and iCloud).

Comfort. Dangling battery. The big two.

List goes on.

Thanks good to know.

How is that relevant to the point being made?

Sub in whatever fashion conscious person one care to.

Daniel Craig is in the same boat. Although I’m not sure he’s even an Apple Watch guy. He is quite style conscious.

As relevant as your point regarding whether or not a celebrity thinks its fashionable.

Who cares if a celebrity thinks it is? How would you even know anyway? Its not like the Vision Pro is meant to be worn around in public as a fashion accessory. Its a device people use at home or when traveling on a plane if they want.

You see a lot of celebrities walking around in other VR headsets? Doesn't mean they don't own one.

Other than writing about it, you keep it so you’re ready for the moment THE KILLER APP is finally released for it hoping against hope that this happens before the next version is released.

The lack of support for Headphone Accommodations (HA) is one of the main deficiencies from my perspective. In a noisy environment (like on a plane), the built-in speakers won't do, and no HA support means AirPods Pro (USB-C) are inadequate, too.

I love that decades after I first set foot on Macrumors, here we are after iPhone, iPad, iMac, iPod, and people are still babbling about "it won't be as good for games".

Gaming is a $280 billion worldwide market. That's not the "elephant gun" here. that's peanuts..

Apparel is a $1.5 TRILLION global market... that's the elephant gun. And no, I don't mean "wearable tech".

There's a ruler on your phone... why is it there? What the hell use is it by itself?

Do you hate ordering stuff from the internet and it's the wrong size? Imagine visualizing any product in your home. That's the killer app for mixed reality...

I mean one day you're going to look at a person on the street, say, "I want those boots" or you'll be in a bed and breakfast and see a sofa you like, and say, "I want this sofa, will it fit in my living room?" and your AppleVision 8.0 is going to identify the manufacturer, create the order, submit your sizing, billing and shipping information, with a snap of your finger.

And that will be the end of Amazon.

Battery life is quite good (8 hours or more) with a ~$50 3rd party 20000mAh supplemental battery attached that is acceptable to TSA.

Spot-on. Using AVP adoption by celebrities out and about as a market success metric is bizarre.

And is really about some kind of weird defensive projection onto others - in this case celebrities, for some reason. Might as well be librarians, grocery store checkers, and potato farmers.
